CHAPTER 1 (Part 1/2)
Dujapsorn's tall and thin body like a model walked into a high-rise building that was the office of a nationally famous real estate company. After she applied for the job about two weeks ago, the human resources manager called and told her to come in for an interview. The first round went smoothly, and in the second round she was interviewed by the director of marketing and product development, and maybe a senior manager at the company came for the interview because the girl on the phone told her so.
Dujapsorn wasn't too worried because she had gone through many interviews, from when she first graduated until she started working. Answering confidently and appearing comfortable will make the interview atmosphere more comfortable. Especially when being interviewed on a round table, Dujapsorn should act more comfortably. Otherwise, she will be so embarrassed that she won't be able to say a word.
Today she wore a dark blue Japanese silk dress, a little longer than her knees, the soft fabric fluttering along her long, slender legs. Thanks to her tall body, she can easily choose her outfit no matter what she wears. Every outfit is very beautiful.
Dujapsorn believes in first impressions. When she goes to work, she has to impress everyone she meets, so she chooses to wear a short-sleeved white lace shirt and a comfortable jacket that's lighter in color than her dress, wears a leather bag that emphasizes function and uniqueness, not brand name, because even though she graduated abroad, it's not her money and her family's status is not rich enough to use it expensive items
The elevator door opened, Dujapsorn took a deep breath before resolutely stepping out. She informed the female employee behind the counter in front of the door. Behind her is a sign with the name of a large company in English 'JT Property Group'. Everyone knows this company well, everyone knows the acronym is the name of a large, long-standing family in Thailand.
She was taken to sit in the reception room, where a man and a woman were waiting, presumably Dujapsorn's rivals.
Dut-apsorn smiled at them both, speaking only respectfully, neither too much nor so little as to seem false. She didn't start a conversation, while the only guy in the room introduced himself as Pirachai. He started a conversation to relieve tension, appearing quite friendly while she also responded somewhat. The other girl looked up at the ceiling and said nothing.
Then the interview started, the guy was called in first, there were two girls left. Dut-apsorn didn't want anything to do with the rival girl, but the opponent started again.
“They have already recruited people for this job, did you know?”
"Really?"
“I said that the interview was just for formality, so as not to look weird.”
“So you know who it is?”
"Sure." The girl with the beautiful face answered confidently.
“Actually, if you don't want to waste time, you can just go home.”
“Ah… so it's you.”
“That's smart.”
Dujapsorn smiled gently, his eyes roaming over the girl's body without hesitation.
“Thank you for saying, but maybe I can't do as you suggest, because it will become a disgrace on my job interview resume.”
“It depends, then don't blame me for not mentioning it.” She looked up but Dujpsorn didn't care and picked up the magazine to read. A moment later, the door opened and a dignified middle-aged woman walked out.
“Is that Mina?”
“Aunt Kanlaya, hello.” The answering voice was so sweet. "It's been many years since I've seen you, you're still as beautiful as ever."
“But when you grew up, I didn't recognize you either, you were as beautiful as your mother.”
"Thank you, aunt." She clasped her hands and bowed gracefully, glancing at the person sitting in the small room as if to mock, but Dujapsorn pretended not to know, bowed her head and continued reading the magazine, but in her heart she thought this girl was really very good acting.
“The director, Mr. Petch, will come for an interview.” Kanlaya spoke loudly and this time Dujapsorn had very good ears.
“I heard this is a special case.”
“But auntie…” She hugged her arm and whispered. “You took care of that for me, right?”
Kanlaya was silent, not wanting others to wonder, so she hid it.
“Do your best Mina, no need to worry.”
“Yes, auntie, in that case, when the interview is over, my mother will already have booked a table.”
“Yeah, I have to go to work first, talk to you later.” Kanlaya interrupted and left the room.
Dujapsorn didn't know whether to laugh or feel uncomfortable. It seemed like this girl completely didn't understand that things like this couldn't be talked about outright. It would have a negative impact on the work of the person entrusted to her, and at the same time, she also secretly thought that if this company was lucky, it would not accept the girl in front of her to work.
In less than ten minutes, that gentle guy also walked out of the room. Before leaving, he stopped by to say goodbye and wish her luck. She smiled and answered because she thought he really had a sense of responsibility, very different from the empty-minded girl opposite.
She waited another ten minutes before that girl walked out of the interview room with a happy, confident smile on her lips and certainly did not stop by to say goodbye like the previous person. But she didn't care, just determined to do her job as well as possible. If she could work here, her mother would be happy, as if she had fulfilled her duty as a good child.
She entered the small conference room following the call of the female employee. She looked around the room and immediately saw three interviewers. The first person is the human resources manager she met before. She had a gentle appearance, about 40 years old, like the chubby woman sitting opposite.
Sitting in the middle is a guy that Dujapsorn has seen in magazines and on the news quite a few times. He is Major Mom Luang Asira Jutathep, the only son of Mom Ratchawong Tharatorn Jutathep, chairman of JT Property Group Limited (public), one of the country's leading real estate companies.
He was really completely different from the last time they met, two years ago, he must have forgotten that he helped her.
The interview began with her introducing herself in Thai and English and stating the purpose of the interview. That was the question that Dujapsorn had prepared an answer for, but because she didn't want to create an overly grand image, she only answered after introducing...
She wanted to do something new and challenging for a girl who was starting a real working life after many years of hard study. Excellent academic results, excellent rankings in both bachelor's and master's degrees, including participation in the university scholarship exam to study abroad until completion, can be considered a plus point for with her.
The two women helped each other for nearly ten minutes. Dujapsorn also confidently answered all questions. Her eyes gradually glanced towards the man and saw him sitting back in his chair with a relaxed expression. If she thought the military uniform suited him well, then work clothes like a shirt and tie looked better on his muscular body. He has short hair, perhaps he is familiar with it since he used to be a soldier. He has a muscular square jaw and a tanned face, perhaps due to his Thai blood and long exposure to the sun. Sharp eyes always looked at her but showed no emotion, looking like they were calculating, probing, and measuring heavily.
The two women asked so many questions that they didn't know what else to ask, but their superiors still didn't start asking, until the human resources manager had to remind them.
"Boss, is there anything you want to ask?"
"Sure!." Asira sat up straight and asked. "You have a boyfriend yet?"
She immediately gasped, her face felt hot, but still tried to suppress her embarrassment and answer, thinking that perhaps he was testing her for something.
“No, I like studying more because my father passed away when I was young. I only have my mother. I didn't want my mother to worry, so when I went to study for a master's degree, I had to complete my studies on time according to the scholarship regulations, so I had no time and no interest in love. I think when the time is right I will think about it.”
“So when is the right time?”
The two older women looked straight into each other's eyes and seemed startled by the series of questions from their superiors. But Asira has never followed the company's regulations, so they don't find it strange.
“When I'm ready, I have a good job and a stable income to bring home to my mother without trouble. Then I will begin to open up opportunities for myself."
Okay… then I will accept you into the company.” He concluded before closing the folder, paying no attention to the two remaining women in the room.
The human resources manager seemed surprised. “Wait, boss, accept it now? Don't we need to discuss and then call to inform?"
Asira turned to look at the person speaking, his knife-sharp eyes flashing so quickly that the questioner's face almost cracked.
“Why discuss? Or did you accept someone else first, or is the decision not mine this time?
"Oh...It's not like that.” She quickly denied it and still made excuses. "Normally our company still does everything in order."
“It will take time, okay, everyone go out, but Miss Fah stay here for a while.”
The two old ladies opened their mouths, neither of them was named Fah, so who else was there?
“I said get out.”
We already know.” The two older women quickly grabbed the documents and walked towards the door.
Dujapsorn was confused when he suddenly received the job unexpectedly. The meeting room door opened, two people walked out, Asira stood up and walked towards her.
“Do you recognize me? We have met before.”
“Um… I don't really remember.” She lied and didn't tell him that she had seen him in the magazine. Although she couldn't see his face clearly at the time, she later found many newspapers related to him. If she said it, he would know that she wanted to know his story.
“We once met on Ratcha Damnoen Street, you let the students hide, I was a soldier in disguise at that time.”
Thin lips slightly parted before smiling.
“At that time you disguised your face.”
“Yes, but I recognize you, Dujapsorn, little fairy.”
*The name Dujapsorn translates as 'like a fairy/angel'.*
Her cheeks immediately heated up, then he opened his mouth.
"Let's go get coffee. I'm too lazy to go to meetings so we'll just talk about work."
“Oh… should I start work in the middle of the month or the beginning of the month?”
"Alright." He shrugged. “But today is like meeting an old friend again, let me invite you out for coffee, okay?”
"Oh okay." She put her bag on, stood up and followed the person who opened the door. When she went out, she saw Kanlaya talking to the human resources manager, looking tense. Asira put his hands on his hips and asked immediately.
“What's the matter, Miss Jum? Miss Kanlaya?”
"Nothing." Ms. Jum or Jurairat, the human resources manager, quickly panicked. His eyes looked towards Kanlaya before guessing something.
“If there's nothing, I'll go first.” Asira said, planning to leave but changed his mind, turning back to look at the two women. “But for everyone's comfort, I will make it clear here that my department does not need people who talk a lot. Having said that, everyone should understand.”
The two women opened their mouths in surprise while Asira touched Dujapsorn's elbow and led her out of the company. When the two people were out of sight, the surrounding employees immediately gathered to question Jurairat, but all they had was the new employee's name.
