Part 23:- Back Home
"Saanvi! Suchi!" Every member of the family screamed.
"Sit here both of you must be tired" Sumi addressed Saanvi and Suchi.
Andy and Bade Dadu quickly came up with orange juice wanting to feed their little Granddaughter. Bela followed behind them holding some snacks for them.
They kept feeding Saanvi and Suchi, Caressing their hair or sometimes patting their cheeks. Their affection was overflowing for them. In all the family moments, one person was bluntly ignored, none other than Mr. Junior Seghal. There was a complete drought in the name of affection for him.
His jaw hunged low looking at all the attention his wife and daughter were getting. Even his dear Mumma was busy feeding them. She didn't even look at him properly.
Lazily stretching his arms, "K for Karma" Mahir muttered under his breath but enough loud to be heard by Rishi.
"Dad" Rishi gave him an irritated look but Mahir pulled his cheeks, "Aww! My son is feeling like third-wheeling? No worries I am here for you darling son tell me what do you want? " Mahir sugarcoated his tongue at Rishi.
"Dad, only water would be fine" Rishi said being emotional at his father's sweet words.
"That's it?" Mahir patted his cheeks and Rishi nodded at him.
"Go straight then right, you will find kitchen take it from there" Mahir parroted in a baby voice, battling his eyelashes.
"Dad" Rishi glared at him, "How is baby Suchi?" Mahir ran to them ignoring Rishi's whining. Rishi huffed looking at his family, "hopeless they all are", he stormed his foot before going to the kitchen.
Rishi sat on the couch, trying to gain some attention but all his efforts went out of the window when nobody even spared him a proper glance.
Knowing well it's useless to be a cartoon all of sudden it was better to go in room and rest.
*
He was tossing and turning on the bed with a puffy face behaving like a total jealous kid.
Saanvi entered the room with a big smile on her face, "your family is just too sweet, Rishi" She giggled remembering their cute faces.
Not getting any response, She looked at him who was looking at the particular picture with a pout on his face. "Are you alright, Rishi? " She came to him but he turned his face away like a cranky kid.
She tried to shake his arm but gasped as soon as she touched his arm. It was burning hot. She checked his forehead and it was burning too, "you have a fever", she ran out of the room and he sat straight on the bed.
" I have a fever? I thought I was angry that is why I was feeling hot".
"Why did you get up you idiot? Just lay down " Saanvi again pushed him down to the bed, keeping the bowl containing chilled water and cloth on the side table.
"Saanvi... I... Am"
"Shut up" Dipping the cloth in the chilled water she squeezed it before putting it on his forehead.
"Are you having pain anywhere in the body?" she asked anxiously.
He didn't want her to get worried over him. But the fact she was worried about seeing him in discomfort made him feel relaxed. He smiled, shaking his head.
"Why are you smiling? " She was restless here and he was all smiling. She controlled the urge to punch his face.
"Nothing" His smile widened realizing he was successful in making Saanvi annoyed yet again.
"Idiot" She would have smacked his head only if he didn't have a fever.
Grinning ear to ear, Rishi let her take care of him. She kept changing the cloth from time to time while caressing his hair simultaneously. She massaged his head with her soft fingers sending him into oblivion. He silently laid there with a peaceful smile and content heart. The solace her care was providing him, he kept enjoying it.
"Rishi" Bela and Mahir ran to him looking at the cloth kept on his forehead.
"Bela, Call the doctor." Mahir sat beside him, caressing his cheek. "Is there any pain in your body? " He asked with a worried face.
"Dad... Please don't worry I am fine. "
"I can see that" Mahir glared at him.
"Saanvi, you go and rest. You must be tired. " Mahir said taking the bowl from her.
"Papaji... It's not" Saanvi tried to protest but Mahir interrupted her in between, "Don't worry dear, I will take care of him. You won't be able to handle this pig-skinned animal. Let me help you " Saanvi chuckled listening to him and silently sat on the couch. Rishi glared at his Dad for calling him pig-skinned but Mahir rolled his eyes at him.
Bela came back into the room, keeping Rishi's head on her lap she started caressing his face.
Mahir touched his legs to massage them but Rishi quickly withdrew his legs, "Dad don't touch my legs".
" Shut up Rishi before I slap you. "Mahir ignored his protests proceeding with his work.
"My dear Mumma" Rishi kissed Bela's hand looking at Mahir. He smirked making his Dad jealous. "Only this time I am letting you kiss my wife's hand. Once you get better then I will show you " Mahir narrowed his eyes at Rishi making the other three laugh at his possessive face.
Chuckling to Mahir's word, Saanvi imagined Rishi, herself, and Suchi sitting like that and giggling to something like a happy family.
Spending so much time with Rishi, she knew he is a genuine man who value his promises.
He never made me uncomfortable. He broke all the stereotypes I had made all these years about men. He doesn't run away from his responsibilities. He is a cute Man with a child-like heart and a mature mind. Why is he so perfect? How it would have been like if I had met him earlier? He would have a perfect life only if he would have got a real wife. Who wouldn't have been stupid like me. He would have loved her with all in him. He would have his own child, his own blood. Not that he loves Suchi anything less but he would have connected to his own blood more. Just like his parents connect to him and shower him with all their love.
For a person like him, I wish him loads and loads of happiness. I wish he gets the love that he would have desired. When he would love someone for real if he would want a divorce from me, I will happily let him go because he has filled my life with happiness. I won't be a hurdle in his perfect love story. I will never shatter his dreams. He must have thought a lot about his wife and kids but to his hard luck, he got me. I wish he gets someone who loves him as much as he loves everyone and makes them feel special.
Why are you so good Rishi?
"Saanvi? Why are you sitting there alone? Come here" Bela called her patting the space beside her.
Saanvi went to her plastering a forced smile on her face.
How would she leave such a loving family? Will Suchi be ever able to accept the separation?
"Dadda" Suchi's whistling sandals marked her presence. She climbed on the bed with the help of Mahir.
She looked at him with a sad face. Her Mumma keeps that white cloth on her head when she feels very very hot and her head pains. Her Mumma says it's called feber. Did her Dadda got a feber?
She sat near his head, "Dadda close your eyes" She demanded touching his forehead with his little palms.
"Feber go away. Go away. Don't come to my Dadda again " She yelled tapping Rishi's forehead.
"Dadda see it's gone. Now you are fine" She chirped indicating something in the air.
All four of them chuckled at her innocence making her confused.
Did she do something wrong? Her Mumma always does this when she hurts her leg or hand. She scolds the pain to go away and it always goes away.
She blinked her doll eyes looking at everyone laughing, "Awww my baby" Mahir make her sit on his lap.
Rishi lifted his face kissing her fluffy cheeks, "my baby".
And soon a battle of kisses starts between the Father and Son making Suchi giggle. Bela and Saanvi shook their head at their childish behavior.
