Season 1 Episode 4: The Great Dime Chase!
November 23, 2947
At the Sunchaser, Louie was sitting on the couch watching TV. Drinking a pep. "I'm Jonny, the brains of the operation."
"And I'm Randy the handsome one!"" Randy said. "And this is the Ottoman Empire!"
"Ugh...this show is so dumb." Louie said. "Then why are you watching?" Scrooge asked coming in. "Because the remote is all the way over there."
"Then get up." Scrooge suggested. "Ugh...that's too much work." Louie said, Scrooge groaned, Louie opened another Pep and took a slip before putting it down. "Got any more pep?"
"You got thirteen full cans right there!"" Scrooge yelled. "Enh I like that first test, I'll just call Beakley." He pulled out his PADD. "Aw it's dead well better get a new one." He threw it, smashing it. "You could have changed it!"
"Who cares we got units!" He said. "No, I'm the one who got the units! And the GA! That's it, you're coming with me!" Scrooge grabs Louie. "Hey! Where are we going?!"
"To the bridge!" He said, dragging him away. "Noooo!"
Meanwhile Dewey was sneaking into Webby room. "There got to be something in here about my mom." He thought, He grabbed a journal that said 'The secret flies of Webbigail Vanderquack.'
He got a hold of it. "This looks promising." He began to look through it. A trap caught him. "AH!"
"Aha! I got you!" Webby said, jumping out from a hiding spot. "Oh hi Webby can you let me go please." She released him and he fell to the ground. "Oof!"
"Why were you looking through my locker?" She asked suspiciously. "Oh...um...I was wondering if I could borrow your boots?" He hid the notebook behind his back. She snatched the book back. "Hey!"
"So Whatcha looking for?" She asked. "I was looking for... information about my mom."
"Oh Della Duck!" She said excitedly. "Yeah!"
"What do you know about her?" She asked him."All Uncle Donald ever told us is that she's...gone, the only thing we have of her is this photo." It's her dunking Donald into a cake.
She took it. "Photographed evidence?! This is going into my Della Duck file!"
"You have a file!" He said excitedly, he grabbed it to see what was inside, it was just the picture she just put in. "Really, this is it?" He sighed in disappointment. "I've been looking into her for years, but there's nothing."
"There's got to be at least something, nobody just up and vanishes." He said. "Well apparently she did."
"Great another dead end." He said disappointed. "Maybe there is another source."
"Where?" He asked. "Come with me." She grabbed him. "Woah!"
Meanwhile, Scrooge takes Louie. "Do I have to?" Louie moaned. "Yes, you're going to learn the value of hardwork, you're a part of the GA, it's time you act like it." Scrooge said as they entered the elevator, Louie sighed. "This is not fair."
"Life's not fair." Scrooge added.
Meanwhile, Webby brought Dewey to the archives. "Where are we?"
"This is the archives." She explained. "The archives?"
"Yep, if there's anything about your mother it's here." She added.
She knocked and the doors opened revealing the archivist Emily Quackfaster. "Go away, Webby."
Quackfaster began to close the door. "I told you that the archives are off limits."
"Except for maybe a descendant of the Captain?" Webby said. "Meet Dewey Duck." Quackfaster took a good look at him. "I see."
"WELCOME TO THE ARCHIVES HEIR OF CLAN MCDUCK!" Quackfaster yelled, opening the doors wide.
Meanwhile the elevator doors opened into the bridge. Louie had hands in his pockets. "Captain on the bridge!"
Scrooge and Louie enter, Louie looking around the room. "Sup, guys."
"Hi Dewey's brother." Launchpad said, waving at him. Louie turned around. "Where do you think you're going?" Scrooge stopped him. "Captain, the Admiralty board wishes to speak with you."
"The Admirals? Why?" He asked, confused. "I don't know there holos are waiting in the ready room."
Scrooge sighed. "Fine. Guess we'll need to meet with them." Louie tried to sneak away again. "Don't even think about it." He grabbed the boy's shirt collar and dragged him into the room. "Ugh..."
Meanwhile, "So what's in here?" Dewey asked. "I keep track of the events of this ship." The Archivist said. "Like what happened to my mom?"
"Patients, young one." She said as Webby looked around. Dewey sighed. "Is there anything you can tell me about my mom?" He asked stopping her cart. "Do you think you're ready for that information?"
"Um...yeees?" He said. "WRONG!" She yelled. "Huh?"
"You must first prove yourself worthy by passing...THE TRIALS!" She said before throwing down a smoke bomb and disappearing.
"This is my new favorite place." Webby whispered to Dewey.
Meanwhile, at the meeting, Louie was trying hard not to fall asleep. "As you know patrols are down at the neutral zone." Admiral Bradford explained. "And Royal Navy ships were spotted at Dawsonia, Lillehammer IV, Eldorado Prime, and Culebra."
Louie fell asleep. "We feel that..." Someone then kicked the door open. "Shut up everyone I've done something brilliant!" It woke up Louie. "Ah, Gyro." Scrooge said. "I'm sorry, but we...
"Apology accepted. Now try to keep up with my mind-numbing genius." He said. "Behold! Lil Bulb!"
"What does it do? And how do we know it won't turn evil like the others?" Admiral Bradford asked. "One, only half of my inventions turn evil. The other half are just wildly misunderstood. And two it does it all."
Lil Bulb did a death motion. "What is it doing?"
"It means it likes you." Gyro explained, the board looked at each other before Bradford said. "Request denied."
"Sorry, Gyro." Scrooge said. "I'll show you. I'll show you all!" Gyro vowed. "Maybe next time you wait until you're out of the room before saying that next time."
Closed the door. "But Uncle Scrooge, why wouldn't you want something like that?" Louie asked. "Part of being in the GA is knowing how to listen to your superior officer. The Admiralty board's top priority is keeping both the GA and its people safe. I trust them completely to make good decisions..."
"I'm glad you see it that way Scrooge, which is why we called this meeting to discuss your unnecessary spending on the Sunchaser." Bradford said.
"WHAT?!" Scrooge yelled. "You heard me."
"I don't spend one penny more than I have to!" He said. "According to our research you're spending 15 million units on magical defense."
"Do you know how many curses are on my head!?" Scrooge argued. "Um...I think I'm just going to go and get a drink." Louie said bored, so he got up and left.
Meanwhile, at the archives. Dewey and Webby. "So what do you know about my mom?" He asked. "Was she really part of the GA?"
"First you must complete..."
"Yeah, yeah I know the trials." Dewey interrupted. "Behold your first test!" Dewey groaned and rolled his eyes. "You must decipher the ancient and mysterious code within."
"Huh?" It was a library card catalog. "This is a waste of time! Just tell me!" Dewey said. "Not until you complete the trials!"
"Besides, it even has your name!" Webby said she pointed at a sign. Dewey-decimal , Webby begin to work.
Meanwhile Louie walked by a display case that had a dime on a velvet pillow on it. "Man, I don't have any units."
He then remembered the dime. "Aha!" He snapped. He ran up and grabbed the dime. "Good thing Uncle Scrooge keeps a dime for emergencies."
Louie ran up to the vending machine bot. "Hey I know this isn't a unit but is there some way to work with this?" He put it in and a pep came out. "Come to papa."
He took it and went back to the ready room. "Is it really necessary for a dime to have an expensive pillow, Captain McDuck?"
"That dime deserves its own velvet pillow." Scrooge said as Louie came back in. "It's the very first dime I've ever earned!" Louie's eyes widened as he realized what happened. "I got to go!"
He ran back outside. Ran back to the bot. "I need that dime back!" He ran to the vending machine bot. "Hey, can I have that dime back?"
"I'm sorry but I was just cleaned out of chairs by that man." It said, pointed at a janitor in a tracksuit. "Hey!" He called after him but he had headphones on and couldn't hear. "Wait!" But it was too late as he entered the elevator. Louie ran over, the door closed on his face. "NO!"
He looked at which deck he'll be on. "Guess I'll take the stairs!" He was out of breath when he reached the next deck. "Phew..." he looked and he only went to one deck. "This stinks!"
Meanwhile, "Alright! Do you or do you not know anything!?" Dewey asked impatiently. "Patience, in order to gain knowledge from the Archives, one must offer up knowledge."
"That doesn't make any sense!" Dewey said.
"It's not for us to understand the ways of the archives." She said passively. "That is literally your job! That's it she doesn't know anything! I'm out of here!" He takes Webby and tries to leave. "I'm out, she doesn't know anything." She grabs his arm but Quackfaster gets in their way. "No! None shall leave once they are undertaken. There are those who will destroy you for the knowledge you seek."
"Destroy me? Really? And who would that be?" Dewey asked. "Me." She said. "What?"
"Aaaaaaaah!" She pulled out a big cannon, and they ran for it as she fired.
Meanwhile, Gyro. "You are great, you just need to prove it."
Louie ran up to the elevator, just as it was closing. "Wait!" Too late. "Ugh!" He ran up the stairs again. "There's got to be an easier way!" He was the janitor. "Hey you!" The janitor still has his headphones on. Elevator shut again. "Oh come on!" He went to a locked door.
He got on his PADD. "What on the other side of this door?" The janitor dumped. "The Dump?!"
Louie tried to open the door but it was locked. "Welp...I'm dead."
He then played about how to pick a lock on his PADD. "We're going to teach you how to pick a lock, first you need a small, thin object like a dime."
"If I had that I wouldn't need the video!" Louie yelled at his PADD, it went to commercial. "No, no! Don't switch to an ad!"
"This week at Ottoman Empire, our guest, the Captain of the Royal Duke, Flintheart Glomgold!" One of the brothers said. "I'm a commodore!"
"Ha! Ha! They'll never get that fixed." Louie laughed. "Focus!"
He saw Gyro and Lil' Bulb. "Hm..." then he got a idea. "Ding."
"Hey." Louie said, getting their attention. "What?"
"You are the inventor guy right?" Louie said. "Look, if this is about the Gearloose Magnetic backpacks, I specifically said they should not be used as school bags. Blathering blatherskite, one kid gets sent into low orbit, and you never hear the end of it.." He began to press an elevator button.
"Wait! I'm actually The Captain's nephew...his high ranked nephew..." He stopped. "Keep talking...sir."
"I might be able to get your bulb sanctioned but I'm going to need to test run it." Louie said. "Anything you say, high ranked nephew." Gyro saluted when he picked up Lil' Bulb. "Lil Bulb, you be good. Don't you rise up against your masters."
Louie looked at him weird. "Haha, just a little robot humor." Louie turned around, Gyro give Lil Bulb the 'I'm watching you gesture' as the doors began to close. "Wait! Can I ride with..."
Too late.
Meanwhile, Scrooge was still arguing. "And if you can find me 3,000 gallons of ship cleaner for cheaper, I'd love to hear about it!"
"Captain McDuck, this is getting nowhere." Bradford said. "If you won't make your own cuts, then we're forced to discharge crew members at the Sunchaser to save units."
"I can't do that!" He yelled. "Then we will."
"How about Quackfaster." Bradford suggested. "Get rid of Quackfaster?! Never! For 50 years woman's level-headedness has kept this ship's archives secure and orderly!"
Meanwhile, Quackfaster is seen chasing Dewey and Webby with a cannon. "YOU DON'T DISRESPECT THE ARCHIVES! YOU SHALL BECOME ONE WITH THE ARCHIVES!"!" She fired at them, they ducked. (Lol.)
"She's insane!" Dewey yelled. "Here. Knowledge is the greatest weapon of all!" Webby gave him a book, Dewey threw it at Quackfaster. She caught it. "Keep throwing!" He did.
Meanwhile. "Alright, how about Dr. Gearloose?" Bradford asked. "Are you insane?! Gyro Gearloose is one of the most brilliant minds of our time!"
Meanwhile, he was at the vending machine bot he put his units in. It spat it out of its mouth. "You're denying my units?!"
"Yes." The bot said. "I am man, you are machine!"
"I don't care." it said. "Do as I command or I'll will pull your plug!"
Meanwhile, Louie is with Lil' Bulb who picked the lock, the door opened. "Good job me!" Louie cheered and Lil' Bulb glared at him. "Alright, better get to work."
Louie kicked him and Lil' Bulb got to work. Louie sat down and began to watch a video on his PADD.
Meanwhile, Dewey and Webby were running. "Did we lose her?!" Webby asked. "I think so." Dewey said, a cannon ball went over their head. "Ah! keep moving!" They run.
Meanwhile, the dime rolled to Louie's feet. "Hey you find that dime, good work little..." he looked up and saw Lil Bulb turned itself into a giant robot. "Guy..."
Lil Bulb looked at him. Scanned him and the dime. Target: Dime. "Um... what are you looking at?"
It reached down at him and Louie ran. "Aaaaaaah!"
Meanwhile with Gyro. "Give me my units back then!" Louie ran by and Lil Bulb crashed through. "Aaah! He's turned against me!" Louie screamed, Gyro sighed and pulled out his PADD. Crossed out Lil' Bulb and put him in the evil place before running after them.
Meanwhile, Dewey and Webby panting. "Did we lose her?"
"Yeah, finally." They breathed a sigh of relief. But then Quackfaster came out of nowhere and grabbed them. "That's what you think!"
"Let us go!" Webby demanded. "Get off me!" Dewey demanded. "You don't know the dangers of the knowledge you seek!"
"I don't know anything and it's really frustrating!" Dewey protested. Louie ran into the archives.
"Louie!" Dewey and Webby cheered Lil' Bulb followed soon after. Crash! "Um, never mind." Dewey said. "Look, a distraction!" Louie said it turned, when he turned back around and he was gone, he looked around and ran after him.
That distracted Quackfaster long enough for Dewey and Webby to get free.
Meanwhile, Scrooge. "If you're going to fire all my crew, why don't you just go ahead and shut down the ship?!"
"That's another question, do we need this ship, we have plenty others." Bradford said with a smile.
"That's preposterous!" Scrooge growled. "You may think my crew is a bunch of crackpots and weirdo's, but they're the ones who pushed innovation, creativity and spur the GA ever forward."
Boom! "Huh?"
Louie and Lil' Bulb come crashing in and Gryo jumping on Lil' Bulb. Then out of the room. "Look, they're all mad as loons, and if you get rid of them, they're definitely gonna seek revenge." Scrooge pointed out.
"All in favor of keeping those freaks far away from headquarters, say I?" Bradford said concerned. "AYE!" The other two buzzards said.
Outside of the room the dime was rolling. "NO!" Louie chased it and Gyro got in front of Lil' Bulb. "Stop!" Lil' Bulb looked at him. "You're not evil, you are good."
Lil' Bulb grabbed him. Scanned, Gearloose, Gyro. Genius. Inventor. Father. then found some units, Bulb then spond him around and took his units. Then threw him away. "Oof!"
Meanwhile, Dewey and Webby stopped running. Dewey grabbed a book. "That our last one make it count." Webby said.
"Stop! I demand answers or I will crease this page!" Dewey said, Quackfaster just calmly walked up to him. "Look for yourself." He looked at the title of the book. Life and times of Della Duck. "This is it!" He opened it to find..."it's....blank.."
He looked down sad. "Not entirely." Webby said. "What do you mean?" She turned a page. "There!"
It was a number. "Random number?"
"No, I've seen them before, come on." She grabbed him and ran off. "Woah!"
Meanwhile, Louie went after the dime it rolled with Lil Blub right behind him "no!" It rolled off a diving board.
Gyro tried to figure out what's wrong with Lil' Bulb. "Don't worry he's a little cranky!" He took out his scanner. "Oh he wasn't put in the right way." He screwed the bulb on right. It changed color. The dime went over Louie went after it. He dove. "Come on! Come on!"
Scrooge on his way. "Thanks for the meeting call if you need me Admiral." He paused. "Please don't need me, Admiral."
With Gyro and Louie as Louie is swimming in gold to get the dime. "So do I have the green light or?" He looked at Gyro like 'really?'
With Dewey and Webby. "It's a dead end."
"Wait." Dewey said, he looked around. "The card catalog is in the wrong order." Quakfaster is a lot of things but sloppy isn't one of them!"
"Use your training. The most valuable knowledge must be learned." Quakfaster said in their Comms.
"Alright, how much of this is just us doing your job for you?" Dewey asked. "About 50%."
Everyone was in slow motion, Louie was running to put the dime back, Dewey and Webby were searching through the catalogs, and Scrooge was on his way back. And slow motion ends
Louie was out of breath as he just put back the dime. "Phew." Scrooge just walked in. "Oh don't complain. A day's work has never killed anyone."
Meanwhile, Dewey found a code. "There!"
"Enter it in!" Webby said, he did and something pricked his finger. "Ow! What's wrong with this library?!"
"DNA match." Computer said. A secret door opened Dewey went in, with Webby following. "It's a whole room about my mom." Webby was taking pictures. There was a message. "Why would this place be hidden? I got to tell Huey and Louie."
Della's message played. "Uncle Scrooge, I took the Spear of Selene. I'm sorry." Message ended. "Huh?"
"What's the Spear of Selene and why is she sorry?" Webby asked. "Did....your mom betray Uncle Scrooge?"
"Until we find out for sure we need to keep this to ourselves." Dewey said.
Meanwhile with Louie and Scrooge. "I think you earned this." He flipped his dime at Louie. "You're giving me your number one dime?" He caught it. "That's not my number one dime, it's too valuable to let out of my sight." Scrooge showed Louie a necklace with a dime in it. "It's always nice when you earn it isn't it?"
Scrooge walked away, Louie looked at it. then to the vending machine bot . "Oh a pep." He gave it to the bot, and took the pep only to realize what he had done. "Nnnnnnoooooooooo!!!!!!!!"
That night Gyro was thinking out loud. "Gyro becomes robot...." He put the name of his new project on his PADD.
Project Blatherskite.
