Warm
Tw: Suicide, main character death
The story of Theseus ends with him being thrown off a cliff. The myth does state who had done this act, but it's only a myth, it can be changed. The murderer isn't always someone else.
Tommy was goofing around in the nether with Techno, they had just accomplished something and were now going to celebrate.
"Look at me Techno! I got my pep back! I don't need this stupid lava! Watch!" He chugged a fire rez. potion, feeling the icy liquid make it's way through his systems. He then took a deep breathe and jumped off the bridge.
The feeling of falling was exhilarating. He loved the way it felt to have the air rush past him as he plummeted. He then hit the lava, the thick molten rock hardly splashing as he landed in it. The warmth surrounded him, it was actually quite lovely the way the cold potion and the hot lava countered eachother.
Tommy sat in the lava a moment. When was the last time he had felt warm? He always felt cold. Not the kind of cold from the potion or the snow at Techno's place, but cold on the inside.
The last time had had felt warm, was back when he was sitting on the walls of their not yet named country. Wilbur, Niki, Fundy, and most importantly Tubbo were sitting up there watching the sunset. They were laughing about different names suggested, but how one really rung. L'Manburg.
Tommy popped his head above the surface and smiled a semi-forced smile, "See! I don't need this stupid lava! I can be just fine without it!" He had lied, he wanted to experience this again, he wanted to feel warm again.
Time passed after that celebration. Tommy had seen Tubbo again, but it wasn't the same. It would never be the same. Tommy sat on a roof in L'Manburg, Wilbur's old coat around his shoulders, as he watched the president run errands and laugh.
Tubbo had such a pretty smile when it was genuine, and with the way he was laughing every part of it was genuine. He looked so warm. Tommy frowned and turned away, jumping down and walking away. He was jealous that Tubbo could move on. Tommy wanted to move on, but he couldn't, he always felt so cold.
Walking throught the nether to return to Techno's, Tommy watched the lava bubble and swirl. So many shades of red and orange that glowed vibrantly compared to the dull red nether rack. He ached to look that vibrant again, feel that warm again.
Deciding to take a break from walking, he sat down on the 1x1 log path and dangled his feet over the edge. The heat reached out to his toes throught the souls of his shoes, the pops and fizzles of the lava called Tommy to join it.
Tommy didn't necessarily want to join it, but he wished he could. He knew that dying wouldn't get rid of his sadness, only push it onto others. But the thought teased him anyway.
"Maybe they won't notice," he commented aloud to himself. Tubbo was busy having fun, and Techno was probably in some sort of argument with Phil about if the logs should be bark up or bark down.
The longer he sat there, the more he realised that he would be doing the world, and himself, a favor. Sure, it would hurt his friends for a little bit, but they would get over it and move on. It would be no different then when he was exiled. As he thought about this, the heat latched itself onto Tommy's feet, wanting him to feel warm again.
He look his shoes off, then took his socks off and placed them inside the shoes so they couldn't get lost. He took Wilbur's coat off, giving it a final hug befor folding it and setting it next to his shoes. He sighed as he let himself fall backward, into the lava.
The fall was just as exhilarating as before, the feeling of the air rip through his hair was calming in a way. Then he landed in the sea of lava, it only hurt for a moment, but he quickly became accustom to the extreme heat as he closed his eyes and smiled.
<Tommyinnit died in lava>
Tommy was right, no one had noticed in the beginning. When the notification ringed, Tubbo was in the middle of a meeting with a few others. They were unable to check their phone at the time. Techno and Philza had been in a argument, only it was about where Tommy was. They hadn't heard their phones go off either.
But others who were not as busy, casually checked their phone assuming it was a message about the serve being updated or something. A horrified cry ripped throught the city of L'manburg, and running footsteps soon followed. Niki burst into the meeting room where Tubbo, Quackity, George, and Fundy sat negotiating different things. Nikki's mascara was running as the sobs wracked her body. All four men ran over to her, Fundy holding her as she collapsed onto the floor, holding her communicator out with shaky hands for Tubbo to read.
Tubbo read the message wide eyed. "No" he whispered in disbelief. But he couldn't deny it. He was really gone. "No!" He cried out, pure grief evident in his voice as he also broke down sobbing. Quackity comforted Tubbo, his own tears running silently down his cheeks once he read the message. George didn't cry, neither did Fundy. But they both were overflowed with emotions when they read the short sentence.
Dream had been on his way to Techno's to visit when he received the message. Reading it over quickly, he gasped. He had really done it. He never expected him to do it. Guilt grabbed at Dream's stomach after the shock wore off. He had caused that. He had taken Tommy away from Tubbo, he had fed him lies, he had tortured and manipulated the teen to this point. All over a stupid house. Dream ran. He ran as fash as he could until he reached Techno's house, where he threw the doors open. They slammed against the walls, probably leaving a mark, but at that moment it didn't matter.
Phill and Techno looked to the door, stopping the argument about who should build Tommy's bedroom. Dream stood their, hands on his knees as he panted, trying to catch his breathe. He held the communicator out, "R-read it."
Phil took the phone, his eyes scanning the screen until he found what Dream had been talking about. "My son!" He yelled with emotion only a parent can have. "My son!" He cried again, voice cracking as tears built up. Techno grabbed the phone and read it. Not really showing any emotion other then a stray tear or two on his cheek.
"We- we have to find him Techno," Philza said between broken cries. "W-we have to find where-where he did it."
Techno nodded silently. Supporting his dad by the arm, Techno and Phil walked out of the house and to the nether portal, Dream not to far behind. Upon entering the nether, they walked the path that lead to Logstedsire.
"Techno look," as they approached the thin log bridge, they could see the shoes and square or cloth sitting neatly in the middle of the path.
"I think we found it."
Philza walked ahead, Techno right behind. Dream stayed back, this wasn't his moment, he didn't need to intrude. Philza sat down next to the neat pile of clothes. Recognizing the shoes as Tommy's and the coat as Wilbur's.
"I wanted it to be an accident, Phil. I didn't want to find anything and I wanted it to be know that he was a good kid that just slipped and fell. I didn't want him to leave us like this," Techno cried as he held the coat, the smell of his baby brother filling his nose.
"I know Techno, I didn't want it to happen like this either."
"I didn't want him to leave," Techno cried into the coat. His baby brother, his Toms, was gone for good.
"No one did," Phil hugged his son. Neither of them wanting to do anything else as they mourned.
Running footsteps was heard and Tubbo soon appeared. Red, puffy eyes as he looked at the three desperately, "please tell me he fell. Please temm me he didn't."
Phil nodded, "yeah. Yeah he didn't fall, Tubbo he-he," Tubbo started crying again. He ran to Philza, who had his arm open to hug Tubbo aswell, and they cried together.
Techno handed the coat over to Tubbo, who took it and hugged it close, but as he did it made a strange noise. Like paper crumpling. Searching the pockets, Tubbo found a note. It wasn't very long so he read it aloud.
Hello, it's Tommyinnit.
If your reading this, you're either looking throught my stuff or I've died. If I've died, continue reading.
At the time of writing this, I'm not in a good spot. But I have a plan to escape so hopefully I'll get better an this note will never have to be read. To the people I've hurt, I'm sorry. Just remember I'll be back to bother you as a ghost! The pain just became too much, and I'm sorry I pushed my pain onto you. You can guilt me about that when I come back. But until I make my (probably dramatic) return, try not to cry. I'm not worth your time or tears.
Sincerely,
Tommyinnit
The group of four was silent. No words needed to be said. But atleast they knew he wouldn't be gone for ever. It didn't make it hurt any less, though.
Theseus had died, thrown himself off a cliff into a sea of lava. In this story, it wasn't the bad guy who had ended the hero's life, but the hero who couldn't handle the weight the bad guy had put on him, who had taken the life.
Alright, I felt a bit angsty and then inspo struck at 11 pm from a short dream I had so now we have this. I decided to stop it here because I like this ending, but I do have a happy ending that I'll probably add in a separate chapter later.
Have a lovely day/night and know you are loved to peices <3
