Chapter 28

Dream and Ink were inside Dream's office, talking about and going over some important documents while the S.S.O. topic came up here and there during the conversation. The two were distracted when someone came in.

One of his blue eyelights was glitched out, an armored shoulder pad stuck out underneath his blue scarf, and he was wearing blue, white, and dark grey clothing.

Dream sighed.

"Blue" he said, a bit stiffly while Ink lightly glared at the newcomer.

"I thought I told Jessica to not let him in here" Dream muttered under his breath while Blue closed the door behind him and came forward.

"Sorry I'm late. I was... doing things" he said.

Before anyone could say anything, the sound of running footsteps was heard and the door burst open. Revealing Chris, who was panting hard with one hand on her knees.

"He pushed me down the fucking stairs!" she cried once she got her breath back, pointing accusingly at Blue, who looked back at her with a calm, yet somehow flirty gaze.

"Push is such a strong word" he said, putting a boney hand daintily on his chest and the other on his hip.

"I prefer to call it, giving you a little nudge" he added.

Chris growled a bit and came forward, grabbing the collar of the scarf while her eyes turned black with narrowed red cat pupils.

"Oh I'll give you a 'little nudge' when I shove my foot up your ass!" she snapped.

"Hey! Watch your fucking language in front of the boss" Blue replied, pointing at Dream, who was pinching the bridge of his nasal bone and keeping his sockets shut.

"Whyyyy?" he muttered to himself before looking up.

"Chris, let go of him, please" he said.

Chris reluctantly let go of Blue, her eyes going back to normal.

"Jessica!" Dream called.

The guard came in, one hand on the hilt of the sword she had been given during her promotion.

"Yes sir?" she asked.

"Why did you let him in?" Dream asked, beckoning to Blue.

Jessica pointed to the person who was reading this story.

"They told me to do so" she said, dropping her hand.

Everyone looked at the reader.

"Jessica! Your not supposed to break the fourth wall!" Chris cried, looking back at the girl.

"Says the one was breaking it just now" Jessica replied.

Blue crossed his arms behind his head and leaned against the wall, watching the drama slowly unfold with a light smirk. Chris looked over at him with a glare.

"Why'd you push me down the stairs anyway? I never did anything to you" she said, snapping slightly.

Blue shrugged.

"I was bored" he said simply.

"So you couldn't have picked anyone else to bother?!" Chris asked.

Dream now intervened before things got worse.

"Alright! Alright! Blue, leave, please. I have some important matters to discuss with my fighting trainer and right hand" he said.

Blue huffed a bit in fake disappointment.

"Alright, fine" he said before walking out of the room.

"You too Jessica" Dream added.

"Dang it!" Jessica muttered quietly before walking out of the room from the corner she had been trying to hide herself in.

After the door closed, Dream took notice of the somewhat thick folder in Chris's hand.

"Chris, what's that?" he asked nodding his head towards the folder.

"Oh, I thought I might've uncovered something, but, you guys look like you were busy before everything happened" Chris replied, getting ready to turn around and leave.

"If its about the S.S.O., you can show it" Dream said.

"Well, in that case..." Chris said coming over.

"You remember one of my solo missions that you gave me a while back, something with gathering information?" she said.

"Yeah..." Dream said, sharing a glance with Ink.

"Well, admittedly, I did go undercover, and was able to get in a hard drive, which I was not able to review until now. And while looking through the information, I discovered something" Chris said.

She quickly looked through her folder, and pulled out a couple papers that were stapled together.

"I'm starting to think that their 'soul science' goal, is really just a cover up for something else" she said, as Dream quickly read through the papers.

"What do you think their actually trying to do then?" Ink asked.

"Think about it. All of these camps and stations across the AUs, fighting back against us to try and stay where they are while trying to increase their numbers of soldiers and guards..." Chris trailed off as she looked at the ground.

She looked back up at the two again.

"I honestly think that the S.S.O. might be trying to take over every AU in the multiverse" she said.

Everyone was silent for a couple seconds.

"It would explain a lot on why the S.S.O. are staying in the areas that they are taking humans and monsters from" Dream said.

"Not to mention the unprovoked attack on Technotale" Ink added, which made Chris shiver slightly and shift her weight from her prosthetic onto her her good leg.

"However, we need more proof of this. Do we have any information or lists?" Dream said.

"Look at this. Here's a list that the S.S.O. had regarding AUs that they think they've taken over" Chris replied, handing over another sheet of paper.

Dream looked over it.

"So its true then. The S.S.O. really is trying to take over the multiverse" he said.

"I could go in undercover again, see how bad the situations are in the AUs that have been taken over" Chris suggested.

"No, its too risky. I have another idea in mind. The S.S.O. is getting stronger, but I don't think we alone will be able to take them down" Dream replied, knitting his bony fingers together and resting them against his upper 'lip'.

He looked over at Ink.

"I think its time to call the multiverse council together, and let them know what we're dealing with. And since Chris here was the one to discover this, she should be a temporary honorary member" he said.

"Sir, its been a long while since Dreamswap called a multiverse council meeting, and if we were to bring a human, excuse me, senti-monster in, we don't know how everyone else is going to react" Ink warned.

"We'll make sure that everyone knows Chris is with us" Dream replied.

Chris looked between the two, trying to absorb as much information as she could. She had heard of the Multiverse council, a group consisting of the different versions of Dream and Nightmare, along with another version of Ink, and some more of the most powerful monsters throughout the entire Multiverse.

And if she was hearing things right, she was about to become a part of it, even if it was going to be temporary...

"Wait a minute, wouldn't you have to call a truce with your brother if you call this council meeting?"

"Oh... Right..."

-Time skip-

"Sir! You need to see this" someone called as they barged into the office.

Mr. Jackson glanced up as the assistant came forward, holding something in their hand. It was a small glass ball that was full of swirling green mist-like magic.

Mr. Jackson took it, set it on his desk, and broke it. The mist came out and formed a piece of paper that solidified and dropped to the desk.

After a second of waiting, black ink showed up in words. Mr. Jackson picked it up and read through it.

"So... Dreamswap is calling a Multiverse council meeting? And their having a senti-monster present? Find out where this will be held. And do whatever it takes to infiltrate it" he said.

The assistant bowed and ran out of the room. Right after they left, the letter erupted into green flames.

Once the flames died away, all that was left was blackened ash that turned into green mist that quickly faded away. Mr. Jackson's eyes widened.

"I recognize that magic" he said softly.

He turned in his chair to look at something. It was a large crystal ball that was filled with green colored magic. It sat on a three point pedestal.

And the bottom of the pedestal was labelled, 'Project 649'...
