Chapter 20

"Well, someone seems to be more calm on a motorcycle"

"That's because you aren't going at a breakneck speed with S.S.O. people chasing after us"

Chris laughed a bit at Ink's muffled, but snarky answer as she continued her steady cruising speed down the street. She had been able to find a spare motorcycle helmet for him, and now, she was taking him to the best spot to see the sunrise.

It was a nice area at Technotale's Waterfall area. It was slightly secluded, but it had the best view of where the sun would be rising.

Chris was brought out of her thoughts when she felt Ink move a bit. He wrapped his arms around her waist, since he had been holding on to her shoulders, and he rested his head on her shoulder.

Chris was so glad that the glass/plastic cover had a very dark tint. It hid her blush perfectly.

Though she couldn't help but smile at Ink's actions. He would never admit it, and often didn't realize it, but he could be very adorable sometimes.

"What is that up ahead?" Ink asked.

"Its a tunnel. There's two others like this one. This tunnel leads to Waterfall" Chris replied.

"And the others?"

"Those lead to Hotlands and Snowdin"

"Oh"

The two reached the tunnel and Chris drove into it. The inside of the tunnel was black, but it had so many colored circuit patterns that ranged from blues to greens to purples.

There were even some red patterns here and there. Ink honestly loved it.

(just imagine this continuing through the tunnel)

"Wow" Ink muttered.

"Yup. I never got tired of seeing this happen every time someone went through the tunnels" Chris agreed.

She continued driving, and when the two emerged at the end, Ink saw a completely different landscape. Everything was blue and black.

Heck, even the water was glowing a soft blue color!

Chris continued driving until she got to the slightly secluded spot she had been looking for. There were other people around, but they were still far enough to give a sense of privacy.

"We got here just in time, look" Chris said as she parked her motorcycle and nodded towards the horizon.

Ink looked in the direction and saw a bit of light starting to show. The two removed their helmets and Chris picked up a blanket that she had packed up underneath the seat.

She walked a couple feet before arranging the blanket on the ground. Then she and Ink sat down, side by side.

"So the sun only shows up once a year?" he asked.

"Yeah. It gives Technotale a break from technology. So does the moon during the winter solstice" Chris replied, keeping her eyes on the horizon that was steadily getting brighter.

She brought up her knees and rested her arms on them. Ink sat cross-legged and leaned back on his boney hands.

Though he was also slightly leaning against Chris too, which she noticed, and blushed a bit, but didn't say anything. By now the sky was starting to turn to different colors, mostly purples, but it was starting to become a bit pink as well.

Ink looked up at them and scooted a bit closer to Chris, who responded by resting her head on his shoulder. The skeleton looked at her, his face exploding in a blush.

He then looked back up at the sunrise, a comfortable silence surrounding the two. Chris and Ink remained where they were until the sun had fully risen

"Well, that was rather peaceful to watch" Ink commented as he scooted away from Chris so that he could stand up without bothering her.

"Yeah, it was... Especially since it was with you" Chris replied, saying the last part quietly.

Ink looked at her.

"What was that?" he asked.

"N-nothing" Chris said quickly.

The skeleton gave her a suspicious look before turning away.

"Well, we should get back to your friends. We do need to look at packing up for the trip back to Dreamswap" he said.

Chris nodded in agreement and stood up, folding the blanket as she went.

"Welp, let's head back then" she said, packing it up on her motorcycle.

She tossed over Ink's helmet, which he caught and put on before getting onto the motorcycle behind Chris, holding on to her waist. Right as she started driving, a holographic screen showed up with the words, 'call incoming', displayed on it.

"What's up with that?" Ink asked, looking over her shoulder.

"Probably the gang just checking up on us to see when we'll get back?" Chris replied uncertainly before answering the call.

It was definitely not a check up.

"Chris! What's your eta from the city?!" Samantha yelled.

She looked like she was running.

"At our current speed..."

Chris trailed off as she did some quick mental math.

"...about fifteen minutes, why?"

"Cause I need you to stop by the safehouse and grab as many medical supplies as you can carry. There was an accident downtown. The S.S.O. launched a massive surprise attack!"

Chris and Ink's eyes and sockets widened and the two glanced at each other. Chris glanced back at the holographic video call.

"You know what? Change that eta to ten minutes. We'll be there soon with the trauma med kits" she said before shutting off the call.

"Hold on" she said to Ink, who complied.

If Chris hadn't broken the speed limit during their little chase scene, she definitely broke it now...
