chapter two.
Excited, that's what Venus felt as she stood on the platform nine and three quarters with her father by her side. She let out a sigh dreamily, smiling at no one in particular as she reminisced all the old memories of her crying whenever she had to leave for hogwarts. Her father and grandfather meant everything to her. The years passed in a blur and here she was getting ready to leave for her last year at hogwarts and she was damn sure that she won't cry this time. She had many plans for her future which included getting a job at the ministry to staying with her father forever.
The vivid memories of visiting the kings cross station for the first time clouded her mind causing a smile to etch up on her face but when her eyes fell on him, the smile turned into a scowl. The annoying voice of Teddy finally pulled her out of her thoughts.
"Hello Mr. Nott."
"Teddy, how are you boy?" Theodore smiled, patting him on his back.
"Great ,Mr.Nott." Teddy replied before glancing at Venus who was looking around, not even witnessing his presence.
"Hi Venus." He greeted, bumping his shoulder with her's earning a deathly glare from the brunette.
"Hello." Venus non chalantly responded with a tight lip smile.
"Venus darling!" Andromeda exclaimed, coming to a stop next to the youngest nott.
"Andy!" The brunette put up a smile as soon as she was engulfed in a hug by the older woman.
"Excited?"
Venus nodded, letting out a small chuckle.
"Great. Take care darling and make sure to write to me." Venus' heart melted on how sweet Andromeda's tone was just like honey.
"I will."
"Dad, they're over there!"
Once Venus had pulled away, she heard a familiar, boyish squeal which belonged to none other than James Sirius Potter who was starting his first year.
"Jamie!" Venus squealed, matching his enthusiasm and spread open her arms to engulf the mischievous boy in a hug.
"Uncle harold." She moved on to the oldest potter who had a large grin on his face. The adults greeted each other while Venus made sure to hug the life out of little potters.
When it was time for departure, James clung to his mother who was on the verge of tears as well. Watching them cry, Venus couldn't hold back her tears and ended up hugging her father who was trying to calm the brunette down. Wiping the tears with her dorsal, Venus pulled away only to find Teddy smirking at her before mouthing crybaby.
Venus threw a nasty glare towards him which just made him smirk wider.
"And James don't go around creating havoc at hogwarts now that you get to be with venus." Harry warned his eldest son, ignoring the glares he was receiving from his niece.
"Yeah Jamie. Stay with me and you'll be fine." Teddy didn't miss the chance to tease venus further.
"But she's cooler." James blurted out causing venus to laugh out at how disappointed teddy looked.
"That did hurt." Teddy muttered under his breath.
"Oh come on, stop your banter kids." Andromeda chuckled, ruffling james' hair lovingly,"get on the train. It's about time."
"Bye dad." Venus hugged her father for one last time before following James on the train.
"If you two don't mind, can i go and look for fred?" James nervously asked when teddy slided open the door of a compartment.
"We don't mind at all." Venus answered for herself and teddy.
"Thank you!" He exclaimed, quickly hugging venus and skipped away. Venus smiled at his disappearing figure and turned towards the compartment to find Teddy carrying his luggage inside.
"What do you think you're doing?" She frowned, crossing her arms across her chest.
"Last time i checked Venus, you could perfectly see." Teddy responded, settling down on the seat.
"I mean, get out, I'm taking this compartment." Venus exclaimed, putting her hand on her hips.
"I came here first." Teddy asserted, taking out a copy of daily prophet from his backpack.
"Does it look like i care?"
"No."
"Then get out."
"No."
Groaning, Venus pulled her luggage in and sat in front of him,"fine, I'm not leaving either."
"As you wish, miss crybaby." Teddy laughed dramatically, glancing at Venus who looked like she would just strangle him any minute.
"Go snog victoire or something." Venus disgustingly said, crossing her arms across her chest.
Teddy smiled at the mention of Victoire but it turned into a scowl when the compartment door slid open and in peeked Andrew Pucey, the beater on the slytherin team. The first time they met was on the hogwarts express itself when Andrew had noticed the brunette reading a quidditch book and he approached her, immediately tied in the beautiful bond of friendship.
"Hey van." Venus really loved the nickname her two best friends, Andrew Pucey and Elphias Zabini gave her. Elphias became Venus' friend when the former was lost on her way to the charms classroom. And as Venus was already in her second year while Elphias was in her first, the former helped her in getting to the classroom. On the way Elphias introduced herself and admitted her love for commentary which Venus thought was really interesting and advised the first year to try out to be a commentator.
"Hi rewww!!" Venus sang, getting up on her feet to engulf the other slytherin in a hug as she rested her head on his shoulder,"i missed you."
"Missed you more van!" Andrew exclaimed happily but it turned into an uncomfortable thick tight lip smile when he noticed the hufflepuff who was trying hard not to kick the two annoying slytherins out of the compartment.
"Just sit down rew." Venus spoke cheerfully when she noticed the way Andrew was looking at Teddy who had his eyes fixed on the dry sheet of paper in his hand.
"Where's Elphias?" Andrew questioned, once he had settled down and pulled out two chocolate frogs to eat, passing one to his best friend.
"I thought she's with you?" Venus frowned, toring the wrapper of the chocolate frog.
"Oh yeah, her brother is starting hogwarts today, you remember?" Venus clicked her tongue in response as a yes,"she might be with her brother then. He looked quite nervous, not quite, very nervous."
Venus popped the chocolate frog in her mouth and leaned back on the seat when the compartment door once again slid open, a beautiful sixteen year old girl entering inside.
"Teddy!" She squealed happily, lighting up Teddy's face as he got up to embrace her in a hug. It got far more escalated when Victoire pulled him for a kiss.
"Oh my innocent eyes." Venus sighed dramatically causing the couple to pull away.
"Don't be jealous." Teddy rolled his eyes before gesturing Victoire to sit down who smiled at the two slytherins.
"And why would I be jealous?" Venus rasied one of her eyebrows, air quoting the word jealous.
"You can't get a boyfriend for yourself! It's obvious." Teddy laughed,"it's because you're annoying as fuck. Nobody wants to be with you. Maybe if you stop poking your nose-"
"Shut up lupin." Andrew snarled, shooting daggers at the hufflepuff having a grumpy expression on his face.
"It's alright rew." Venus kept her hand on Andrew's shoulder in order to stop him if he was planning on murdering Teddy,"He's not worth it."
"Ha, as if you are." Teddy muttered under his breath.
The rest of the ride was wary for Venus ; she wasn't much fond of travelling but having a chattering best friend by her side helped a lot.
Once the train came to a halt, excited first years rushed out while others lazily came out of their respective compartments. Venus looked around for any sign of her dark-skinned friend but she was no where to be seen. Andrew and Venus shared the carriages with two other slytherins namely Chloe and Cara Higgs who were twins and were on the Slytherin quidditch team as chasers.
Quidditch is something Venus had always adored. Harry had always encouraged her to go and tryout for quidditch and she indeed did in her third year, starting as a seeker and was soon made the captain in her fifth year itself.
"How was your summer venus?" Chloe asked as the carriages started pulling themselves. The higgs twins were very friendly and were known as the most coolest people in the whole hogwarts.
"Except visiting Edward, it was all fine." Venus smiled, staring at the castle illuminated by the moonlight. The castle looked the same every year but for Venus it seemed like the castle grew brighter every year.
The conversation stretched on to quidditch, discussing some strategies until they reached the castle and carried on their conversation to the great hall.
"Thanks." Venus smiled, putting her hand in Andrew's as he helped her to get off the carriage,"Seen Elphi anywhere?"
"No." Andrew responded dryly, walking up the stone steps of the castle. Venus let out an exasperated sigh but as she entered the great hall and spotted her best friend, a huge smile made it's way on her lips.
"Elphi!" Venus exclaimed once she had reached her best friend with Andrew following her trail.
Elphias was startled a bit but when she found it was Venus, she smiled widely.
"Where the heck were you? You could have just asked me to join you and your brother." Venus pouted, sliding next to Elphias while Andrew sat on the other side.
"Sorry, he was crying so much and I was just so numb." Elphias apologised, her gaze averting between Venus and the doors of the great hall.
"It's fine." Andrew and Venus chorused causing Elphias to crack up a smile. Venus glanced at the staff table where all the teachers were patiently sitting while students filled in, making the great hall alive. The golden plates just shone brighter due to luminescent light of the candles falling on them.
Once the students were all settled, the excited first years walked inside while Venus compared them to penguins. When James was called upon, Venus was bursting with excitement and anxiety that she couldn't stop tapping her foot nervously on the floor.
As soon as the hat had announced gryffindor, the hall bursted into claps and praises but Venus made sure that she was the loudest of them all. After all James was her favorite potter, no offence. With the end of the sorting, the feast was bestowed and students didn't wait a mere second before digging in.
And that's how Venus' seventh year started.
