chapter seven.
The cold, morning air blew across Venue's tired face, stirring a sudden feeling of freshness inside her as she stepped in the quidditch field. Quidditch was just around the corner and Venus badly needed to catch up with all the players on the slytherin quidditch team.
"Alright, is everyone here?" Venus increased the pitch of her voice before coming to a stop in front of the other six quidditch players who averted their attention towards the captain. To make herself a little dramatic, Venus placed her hand on her waist and paced in front of them with her eyebrows laced together.
"So. . . " She started before clearing her throat and glared at Xavier who groaned at her being dramatic,"Last year, we, the slytherins lost the fucking match to hufflepuff after which Edward Lupin didn't spare a single second without making fun of me. That was hell and in no way I want that to be repeated.
"So you wanna win this match just because you wanna get in the final or because you want to prove yourself to Lupin?" Xavier scoffed, crossing his arms across his chest.
"Maybe both." Venus shrugged, clasping her hands together before bringing them to her chin,"But there's no way we're gonna loose this time. I mean come on, we have the best players."
"Alright, so what are we waiting for? Let's get starting." Andrew spoke up, gripping his broom tightly in his hand. "We're starting with the beaters then." Venus tilted her head to the side earning nods of approval.
Venus gestured everyone to get on their brooms and picked up her broom from the ground before mounting on it. Cara threw the quaffle in the air which Venus caught in her arms and threw it towards Xavier who sped towards the goal where Andrew was waiting for him with his bat clutched tightly in his hand.
The practice went on for a solid twenty minutes before the slytherins landed down for a break, all covered in sweat and tiredness. Venus laid on the grass and smiled when it tickled her neck.
"Friar is heading this way." Andrew who was sitting next to Venus with his knees pulled to his chest, smirked before glancing at his best friend who stood up abruptly.
"Hello Jake." She grinned once he reached her. "Hi Venus." Jake greeted cheerfully before his eyes fell on Andrew,"Hello there Pucey."
"Good morning Friar." Andrew stood up with a small, polite smile on his face,"I gotta go. See you two around."
After Andrew left to join the rest of the team at the lockers, Venus turned to Jake who had a shy smile on his face. "Well I was wondering. . . " Venus cleared her throat while she looked Jake in the eye,"If you would like to go out with me on the coming Hogsemade trip?"
Shock was evident on the hufflepuff's face as he blinked his eyes few times. "So a date?" He questioned, amused by the invitation.
"That's what boys and girls call it nowadays." Venus smirked, crossing her arms across her chest.
"It would be an honor really!" Jake exclaimed, giving a small nod.
"Alright then." Venus smiled,"I'll see you around. Gotta whoop your team's ass this time."
"Hey." Offended, Jake said earning a light chuckle from Venus who placed a kiss on his cheek before making her way towards the lockers.
Once she got inside she couldn't help but smile that she just asked him out when Teddy was just watching them from a distance. "Alright everyone, let's get back to the field now." Venus called out, startling the higgs twins who were redoing their make up who glared at their captain.
"Mr.Xavier Fawley left by the way." Andrew disgustingly said, wiping his face with a towel. "What? Why?" Venus frowned, walking up to where Andrew was.
"Said he was tired." Chloe answered.
"What the actual fuck!" Venus complained, rolling her eyes in annoyance,"I just wanna kick that asshole off the team but he plays so damn good and obviously I can't do that. He's being so annoying though."
"Let's just call it a day for today Van. We are all tired." Andrew suggested earning nods of approval from other players who needles to say just wanted some rest.
"Hmm I think that's better." Venus half heartedly agreed, getting inside the changing room to get changed in her school robes. Once changed, she walked outside to find Andrew waiting for her which made her smile heartily at him.
The duo walked through the hall before meeting up with Elphias who was really excited for the upcoming match as well. "Let's go. it's Professor Longbottom's class." Venus grinned excitedly, getting up on her feet, being followed by her best friends. She stopped abruptly when her blue eyes spotted Xavier standing in the open field, staring at the black lake.
"I'll just go and have a word with him." Said Venus earning a slight nod from her best friends. As she walked out in the fresh air, a smile made it's way upon her face when she spotted the birds chirping away happily. Nature was really the medicine to Venus' stress and worries.
Hearing footsteps behind himself, Xavier turned around and a look of pure confusion and surprise was soon painted on his face when Venus approached him. "Who the heck gave you the permission to just ditch the practice?" Venus started, crossing her arms across her chest to produce a intimidating demeanour,"You can't just leave like that."
"Shut it Nott. I'm not in the mood to talk." Xavier sneered, shooting daggers at her as if she was the reason of his sore mood. "Does it look like I care?" Venus tauntingly raised one of her eyebrows before answering her own question,"No I don't. So shut the fuck up and give me a reason of your sudden departure."
"Do you ever listen to what rubbish you speak?" Xavier rolled his eyes.
"Actually yes." Venus nodded.
"I just didn't feel like being out on the field okay?" Xavier was just a second away from flipping her off but somehow controlled himself.
"In no way that makes sense." Venus frowned,"Just don't tell me that you're taking off your anger on me and quidditch because if that's the reason, it's not our fault that your mother is sick. Don't make us pay for it."
Startled, Xavier looked at her with his eyebrows laced together in confusion.
"Heard your friends talking about your mother." Venus answered his questioning gazes.
"Listen to me Nott, just because you don't have a mother doesn't mean that you can speak whatever the fuck you want. You don't know how it feels when your mother is at the verge of leaving you forever. You're just a stupid, selfish bitch who just cares about herself. You suck! Fuck off." Xavier shouted, breathing heavily because of his sudden outburst.
Venus felt her confident self slowly breaking down giving up the access to the weaker one. Without a word Venus scampered away from him and to her friends who were extremely worried about the conversation which just took between Venus and Xavier. "Van, what's wrong?" Elphias frantically asked catching up behind Venus who was taking long steps to get away from everyone.
"Van what happened?" Andrew tried but Venus just ignored him as well.
"Venus!" Elphias screeched, getting ahold of her arm and made her turn around. "I'm alright really. Everything's fine. I just don't feel like attending class today. Please. . . just. . . just leave me alone for a while." Venus said in one go, breathing really heavily while desperately trying to hold back the tears until she gets sometime alone.
"Van. . . " Elphias frowned, clearly aware of the fact that Venus hardly ditched classes even when she falls sick. Venus tried to assure them with a small smile before she hurried away towards hagrid's hut where she knew she could get some time alone.
she ran to a large tree on the shore of the black lake and plopped down on the grass finally letting her tears down. She knew she was a narcissist who rarely cared about anyone else but she never knew someone would ever bring that up. "Ditching classes now are you?"
Startled by an all too familiar voice, Venus wiped her tears and made sure she didn't look sad or traumatic by any chance. "You really need to stop following me edward. It's clearly fan behavior."
"Oh shut up. I was just passing by." Teddy rolled his eyes. "Just go away." Venus muttered, xavier's bitter words ringing like loud bells in her head,"my head hurts."
"Are you sick by any chance?" If it wasn't for the headache, Venus wouldn't have noticed how worried he sounded.
"No." Venus groggily replied, pulling her knees to her chest,"I just don't feel good." Really confused by the girl's indifferent behavior, Teddy squatted down to her level and shook her shoulder,"Hey what's wrong?"
"Are you deaf or what? Just leave." Venus rudely said, slapping his hand away.
"Fine. Are you up for a tea though? Hagrid invited me and if you wanna tag along. . ." Teddy stood up straight, stopping midway his sentence when he realised that Venus never ever agreed on hanging out with him.
"Sounds good." Venus sniffed, getting up on her feet and dusted her cloak off. "Merlin! Did you just agree on hanging out with me? With teddy edward lupin?" Teddy was the only one who actually knew how much Venus hated people bothering and questioning her when she was at her lowest.
"Did you just ask if I could tag along with you?" Venus questioned back, forcing a light chuckle.
"Oh um I did." Teddy chuckled along, making his way towards hagrid's hut. Venus didn't had the slightest idea on the reason she accepted Teddy's offer but she felt good after meeting up with Hagrid and listening to stories about the pets he had.
