chapter nineteen
As promised, Teddy had to accompany Venus to the lake by a children's park he used to go as a kid. The vivid memories of sitting by the lake with Venus next to him while they talked about their excitement to visit hogwarts was still fresh in his mind.
His face turned in a scowl when he thought about the time when these build boys were constantly checking venus out.
"Edward are you ready to go?" Venus squealed as she pushed open the door to his room and jumped on his bed. "Geez. Calm down." Teddy rolled his eyes at her over excitement as he did his hair while watching Venus just lay down on her back.
A silence soon wrapped them around as the only sound the could hear was that of the television playing downstairs. "Edward?" Venus called out in a much serious tone. "Hmm." He answered while he sat besides her to fold the blanket away.
"Dad asked me what I would like to do next? What do you think I should say?"
"You wanted to be an auror, didn't you?" Teddy asked as he got up from the bed and kept the folded blanket in his cupboard.
"But I wanna play quidditch too. Like aunt gin." Venus sighed and flipped on her side to face teddy. "Then go for it." He smiled encouragingly and moved towards the door,"Come on. We'll sort that out for you."
Venus let out a huff and got off the bed before joining Teddy downstairs in the living room to bid andromeda a goodbye.
"No fighting kids." Andromeda warned them. "Oh of course not." Venus smiled and placed a kiss on the older woman's cheek before hurrying outside the house.
"So do you think i'm good enough to join holyhead harpies." Venus asked, clearing her throat as she picked up the basket filled with sandwiches and sweets. "You were the captain of the slytherin quidditch team. You have the potential to improve yourself." Teddy answered, slinging his arms around Venus who looked lost in a deep thought.
"Hey!" Teddy chuckled, lightly pinching her cheeks to bring her back to earth,"If you're still confused, the best person you can talk to is your father. He knows what's good for you. Make sure you talk to him later."
"I think that's good enough." Venus nodded, the corner of her lips curling in a smile when she noticed his arms around her. Something he had last done when he was ten─ he changed into a complete stranger to everything he ever did with Venus.
The two of them were similar in so many ways from loosing one or both of their parents to being a confused being due to the feelings they had for each other. Teddy glanced at Venus who had the widest smile on her face when they stepped in the park, the sun high in the sky.
"Ah it feels so good." Venus gushed as she jogged up to lake, shimmering under the bright sunlight. She stood there by the lake, treasuring the serenity and calmness around the lake in her heart to be cherished in the future.
Teddy smiled at his excitement and helped her to set everything up they've got for themselves. The two of them sat down next to each other, feeling quite awkward as the last time they'd spent some time together was long ago.
Teddy tried to initiate a conversation by talking about how much he'll miss hogwarts and it was enough for venus to get in her chatterbox personality. When Venus was satisfied with the amount of time she had spent by the lake, the two of them got up and cleaned up everything before making their way back.
Venus brought up her hand in a fist to knock on the door when it was flipped open by ginny. "AUNT GIN!" She screeched, engulfing the red head in a big hug before moving away to let teddy greet her.
"How was your date?" Ginny smirked, her gaze meddling between Venus and Teddy who were taking off their shoes by the doorway.
The two of them shared a glance before Venus decided to speak up,"It wasn't a date aunt gin." "Shut it." Ginny giggled like a little kid,"I've known it forever. When was the last time you went out with Teddy, all happy and carefree?"
"It's nothing ginny." Teddy shrugged, trying to keep his face devoid of any emotions but the looks he was receiving from ginny made him crack a shy smile. "this conversation isn't over yet." Ginny whispered to the two of them when she spotted her kids hurrying down the stairs.
"Venus!!" Lily grinned as she clapped her hands together in delight. "Hello lovelies." Venus grinned, pulling all of them in a hug and so did teddy. James grabbed Venus' hands and dragged her upstairs while albus and lily got their hold onto teddy.
"Can we please play something? I'm getting bored." James whined as they entered teddy's room which was a complete mess. "Aw no." Teddy groaned, collapsing on the bed when he found his room turn in a complete mess.
"Hide and seek?" Albus suggested, ignoring Teddy's emotional drama.
"That's great." Venus smiled and closed her eyes,"Get your place to hide kids. I'm counting." Startled, the potter kids ran out of the room but teddy stayed back. "Hey Venus. . ." He trailed off, wondering if it was the time for the discussion.
"What?" She whispered lowly and quickly resumed her counting.
"Do we tell ginny about us? Or-"
"Of course we do." Venus exclaimed, opening her eyes to face teddy,"I mean I'm sure they would be happy that we're no longer on bed terms. Also, I can't hide something this important from dad or grandpa. And you know aunt gin, she's sweet. I'm sure she'll be very happy."
"Are you sure?" Teddy confirmed.
"I am." Venus replied, placing a kiss on his cheek before running downstairs,"I'M COMING KIDSSSS."
