★ 12 - sleepover
"...and so I ran into him this morning and agreed on going out in the evening."
She's frowning a little while munching on potato chips. "So... you're getting back together or...?"
"I don't know. I want him but I also need him as far away from me as possible."
She hums in thought, nodding her head. "I don't really know honestly. You've never really told me what happened between you two, I just know he was mean towards you-"
"No, he wasn't necessarily mean. He just... wasn't doing anything while I was trying to do everything." I sigh. "I'll just talk to Won and Jin later."
"I think that'll be better, yeah."
I look up. "So... Why are you here?"
"Well, you see... I'm working nearby-"
"You got yourself a part-time job somewhere around? Where?"
She's taken away by my excitement a bit, looking at me with big eyes. "I... work in the McDonald's right around the corner."
"Are you kidding me?" I start jumping while still seated. "That's amazing, Ji! Why hadn't you told me earlier?"
"Oh, you see... I just went to sign the contract in there. And since it's Sunday, I thought I may as well stop by."
"Why does today matter so much?"
"Because I cancelled today's stream."
"Oh, right," I slap my forehead. "Sorry, I should drop by again-"
"Nah, it's okay. I just... reached 500 followers, you know." She looks away and back. "What?"
My mouth is agape as I feel pride spread in my chest. My little sister is getting close to her dream and I'm so happy to be witnessing it.
Having gotten up, I sprint towards her around the table to hold her tight in a hug. "I'm so proud of you, Yeji," I say as she's stiff in my grasp, not sure how to react as everytime when I hug her.
In the end, she wraps her arms around me as well. "Thank you."
I feel sadness in her voice.
"What do parents think about it?"
Yes, the mourning is in her eyes as well now.
"You know dad..."
"Sadly, yeah."
"He doesn't really like it. He's saying I should help him around the house rather than sitting by the computer all the time."
I have to take a deep breath. "And mom?"
"I'm not sure... She says she's happy for me."
"But...?"
"But..." She sighs, running her hand through her dark hair. "She acts upset after I turn the stream off."
I look down. "You know... Maybe I could get a bigger flat and we could move in there together."
"No, it's okay. I'm sixteen after all. I can move out in two years on my own as well. I just need to earn the money for it."
"I'll help you," I smile, putting a hand on her knee. "In those two years, let's move into a flat together, what do you think?"
She smiles a little. "That sounds great."
"Nice," I smile, getting up. "Anyways, I don't have a good enough computer to play any games but maybe we could at least watch a movie together?"
"Yeah, maybe we could."
I get up to grab some more snacks and something to drink while she goes to the bedroom that I use as a living room as well. "You can pick whatever you want."
She sits down on the couch, turning on the TV and I join her in a minute. We're going through the movie options together.
It's been a while since we've met and I just don't want her to leave.

Yeji's phone rings. "Oh gosh, what's the time?"
We check the clock - it's almost 10pm.
"Shit, shit, shit," she whispers as she picks up. "Hi, mom."
"Where are you?"
I can hear her voice. She's mad.
"I'm in the city."
"I thought you went to sign the contract only."
"I... Uh..."
I grab her phone, putting the device to my ear. "Hi, mom," I say with a sigh.
"Hyunjin? What are you doing with Yeji?"
"She visited me. Sorry, I know it's late."
"No, it's okay. I at least know she's safe." I hear her sigh. "You hadn't texted in a while."
"Yeah... Sorry, I was pretty busy."
"Busy enough to not even let your own mother know how have you been? Wow."
I grit my teeth as Yeji tries to reach for the phone.
I give her a sign to wait just a little bit longer. "Is it okay if Ji sleeps over at mine?"
"She has school tomorrow."
"I'll get her to the bus."
"You have school too-"
"I don't." That's a lie - but it's okay. Better than arguing. "My first seminar takes place in the afternoon."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
It's quiet for a while.
I look at Yeji. It's obvious she's worried.
"Okay."
I smile. "Thank you."
"Let me know the next time though, okay?"
"Sure. We will."
"Good."
"I'll hand you back to Yeji now, okay?"
"Yeah, it's okay."
Mom tells Yeji something about how she should've let her know beforehand and then they hang up.
"So..." I grin at my little sister. "Sleepover it is."
She nods her head, stars in her irises. "Yeah. Sleepover."

We had fun. We ate some snacks, drank a lot of sweet sodas (which our bodies will kill us later for) and laughed.
However, morning came by and we had to wake up from that dream.
"We need to catch the bus, Ji. Come on, what do you need for school?"
"Just some pens and a notebook."
"Nah, that ain't everything." I frown at her. "You need something to eat and drink you little piece of shit. Come," I put a pencil and a notebook into a textile bag, handing it to her and going to grab my own stuff before we leave, "let's get you something."
In few minutes, we go out. The sky is still dark, streetlights are bright as our shadows are growing and dying while we're walking amongst them.
"The nearby grocery store should be open, right?"
"Nah, let's get you something better. There's a nonstop KFC around the corner."
"Okay."
I notice how her lips curl up a bit. I know she likes that chain a lot.
We walk inside the building and get to the ordering screen. Yeji taps something into it and just as she's pulling her phone out to pay for it, I toss her to the side and do it myself.
"Yo, bro, what the fuck," she frowns as she's trying to get her hair out of her face.
"I just paid for you and that's what you say?"
"Yeah? You just tried to kill me!"
I laugh at that. "Sure." I order for myself as well. Yeji is trying to pay for it - to no avail though.
"I hate you," she pouts.
"I love you too, my sweet, little sister. Anyways, I think they're just packing your order," I assume as I look at the screen with two numbers on it.
It doesn't take long and we're outside again.
"Still hadn't had enough sugar, huh?" She smirks as I'm sipping on my caramel milkshake.
"You know way too well I fucking love these, Ji."
"Yeah. Still. I'm sure I'll die if I get just one more molecule of sugar into my body right now." She hides her food in the textile bag hanging around her shoulder, throwing the paper one out. "Gosh, I didn't even get any sleep," she realises.
"How many lessons do you have today?"
"Eight."
I can't help but laugh evilly. "You're gonna fucking die, dude."
"I know," she whines.
"Want some coffee?"
She squints her eyes. "Only if you let me pay for it."
"Okay, I will."
"Pinkie promise?"
We lock our fingers together, as I look into her eyes. "Pinkie promise."
