The Final Curtain Call

The sky was red and unusual in design. People got out of their cars to watch. To take photos and smile. No one seemed to mind. No one listened as a car radio churned on;

And I looked, and behold, a pale horse: and the name that sat on him was Death, and hell followed with him. And power was given to them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Revelations.

"It's the end of the world."

The cultist raised their hands to the sky.

The protesters shouted: "Down with the capitalist, if we are going to die! We will make them suffer first!"

The looters took to the streets; "Burn the buildings!"

Tom from Channel 9, "What's happening to our World?"

"Come from by the window sweetie don't look up at the sky," a mother said to her daughter.

Fire danced in the eyes of man.

A war raged in their hearts and minds. A war against the sky and a war against their own kin.

Laughter carried upon the wind, laughter carried at it all.

Ash

Ash turned her gaze back to the hundreds of people following her. They carried all the items that they had in the shelter. Food and personal belongings in the bags on their back. This was such a big risk as she watched them move. She had taken every precaution, she could. The guards kept the rear while the weaker people stood in the center as they made this march to the door with a mixture of eagerness and fear. Their eyes popped left to right, to the slightest whisper on the wind.

Everything was quiet. She sensed nothing nearby. It was all too easy, why was nothing standing in their way. Had they finally been given some form of luck? Would this key really be the answer to there freedom?

Only a few moments away, the scout had said.

Until it was before her. This building was strange, it stood alone and nothing was around it. Like a lost relic in time that had found itself here.

"Is this it?" Ash called, looking at one of the leaders beside her. He wore a blue medallion around his neck. He, in turn, looked at the scout who nodded.

It really was a door. She peered at the key that she had taken out of the box, the symbol was the same. The door had the mark of VIXI upon it.

The same symbol that was branded upon her. Was this some sort of clue?
She reached her hand out with the key and hesitated. With this, she thought I would have surpassed any accomplishments of my sister. I would have proven Domenic wrong. If only you could have lived to see this in the end. That I was always the better one.

Then it came the moment she was dreading. She heard a scout screamed as he was swooped into the air. She turned to see the monsters in pursuit of them. The guards took up positions as best as they could and those who could not defend themselves pushed and pulled themselves forward. It was chaotic and it would not hold. The guards were no match. There was no time. She took a deep breath as she made her decision. Ash opened the door.

It creaked opened and before she could weigh if to enter. It was flooded by those who were panicked. The leaders went first with smiles on their faces. They pushed their way past her and soon many others.

The world seemed to shake and convulse as if it was moving. There was laughter upon the wind.

She grabbed her sword from her back and did what she thought was best to defend everyone until the last.

When she, however, made it to the back she saw that the guards were at their breaking point. The monsters had merely been toying with them. She had to kill them all otherwise they would only follow after.

Ash fought and bled until the last one had left. Now no monsters stood before her. She looked at the door, which resembled a portal now more than anything else. How would she close it? Perhaps on the other side, she could figure away when she met with the others. She closed her eyes and jumped through.

Monsters? So many of them, how did they get here, and where was everyone else? Did they kill them? After all of her hard work, this was how it ended.

If I was here, I would have done far better. No one would have died, you were always second to me, little sister. Your nothing but my shadows. The words seemed to echo in her head.

She pictured her sister laughing at her as her blade sliced and slay all the monsters around her in a fury. The red rays of light shone on her face. She was covered in their blood and it reeked.

She paused for a moment as she looked down. She saw in between the corpses. A blue medallion looking back at her. She saw the food and items that they had been carrying upon their backs. And the weapons the guards had within the monster's hand.

They had... She had killed them.

Eric

The traffic was moving at a snail's pace. Horns blew more frequently than cars actually moved. He was in a rush to get back to the office to finalize the paperwork. Working with Domenic had only made him more successful in his career.
The sky stood bizarre as Eric glimpsed it in the comfort of his car. Amused but not afraid. Until he heard a neighing sound of a horse outside of his car. He couldn't believe his eyes as the horse was in midair.

Seated upon the horse was a skeletal looking figure with a scythe in his hand. It looked him directly in the eye as it took off.

He heard muttering and shouting as people got outside of the car. The sky had turned black the red rays were gone, almost blocked.

"What was falling out of the sky?"

Andrew

"Another martini please," he called as he observed Kim sitting next to him. " You really are something else woman."

"I thought you liked me that way besides, it's not like you're a saint anyway, after what you did to his wife."

"I never professed to be but to think that you would go so far as to create blackmail for him to pay, using his wife and child."

"That boy will pay, I intend to collect money from him for all of my work. You don't think I just kept her because you asked did you? Although you have been useful in your own way too. Especially those nights when the other side of my bed was left cold."

Andrew laughed, "I wouldn't mind seeing him get torn down a few notches but damn remind me never to cross you."

"You won't have to worry as long as you keep pleasing me. See you again tonight," she said as she gave him a wink got up and walked towards the door.

Before she could get there, however, Andrew heard screams coming from outside.

Mr. VanderBrook

Why did it taste so good? He thought as he ate.

He watched through the window people panicked as they ran left and right. He hid in this dull brown stuffy warehouse.

Dust kicked heavily in the air. It was probably a long while since it had been used. Today, however, it had many visitors. Some of whom would never see outside again.

Mr. Vanderbrook knew what he looked like to the human eye. A grotesque monster, his body oozed green and festered. His stomach had swelled, now it had its own mouth. He had grown in size and each time he ate a new body, a new meal. A part of him would fall and a miniature child would form.

He looked around at his family. He was hungry and so were they. He licked his lips hungrily as he placed the final leg within his stomach.

He couldn't wait, watching each meal passed him. He could no longer catch his prey. So his children brought it to him.

He looked at the blackening sky and a  smile came to his face. "Today we will feast well."

His children cheered in response.

Mr.Cassis

There were still more things to take. More things to own. I didn't have everything. I couldn't take everything. I deserve to have everything.

Cassis could hear the noise outside, he could sense what was coming. He knew this was not the end of what he could have but only the beginning. He would be the one to own everything in this world.

The finest Art. The finest Cars. Everything of value and everyone of value. As long as it was in his possession he did not care about anything else.

The jail door opened. You're free to go Mr. Cassis. He stepped outside to see the police grabbing their guns. The people running in all different directions. He looked up and stared at the black sky. Could I have that too?

Alice

Mommy was scared when that girl disappeared. We sat here upstairs in this room not moving. Mr. Ralph kept his gun aimed towards the door all night. The workers were also afraid. Not me, I was not afraid.

The sky, the sky it's like the book mommy read, the monsters are falling from the sky. Mommy is scared, Ralph is scared. Not me, I am not afraid. She looked at the book close byEnêpsigos says everyone will be fine. She says everything will work.

Don't worry Daddy, I will protect everyone.
