Finding One's Self
Samael had been admiring himself in the mirror, looking through his different forms. Interesting, he thought to himself, as he lay on the bed that had once belonged to the man who embodied lust. His carcass lay on the floor with the chain still around his neck. The foul stench of blood hanged in the air as creatures that had once stood far away now feasted on those that were here. Picking the corpses clean from above and below, a few growls rang out to each other as they struggled to determine supremacy.
He looked up at the sky, the red looking clouds. The more he lingered in this world, that of his own memories were coming back as if he had been here before. He saw a woman in his vision, smiling at him and a child, a young girl, yet he still couldn't remember who he was. What was the relation of these people to himself? It was hard for him to tell. He felt nothing as he always had, nothing towards the happy smiles or the matching ring he had once worn. Their faces were always blurred. Who was he, really? The bargain he made had cost him so much just for him to live. His memories were gone, nothing remained in him, but a shell of a man that was desperate to survive through any means necessary.
Now he had also found those means, he too could absorb the vices. It was a strange feeling, yet he felt like he did this many times before. Unlike Domenic, there were no consequences. It didn't seem to phase him in the slightest. Instead, it was like he had collected a piece of himself. Why did Lilith not make him aware of this situation, it was almost as if she didn't want him to?
A devious smile came to his face.
One thing he knew for certain now was that he no longer needed Domenic. If he killed him now and absorbed him as well it would only add further to his own power and strengthen his own position. He counted on his hand how many more to go before he would be in full control. Would he perhaps be able to save himself alone, then he wouldn't need Lilith either. He pictured her kneeling before him as he sat on the throne. She and all the others after he severely humiliated them for looking down on him. Yes, I will be the one to set my own fate, me and me alone.
It was at that moment that Samael felt a presence calling him, one he found hard to resist. He got up from the bed and looked in the direction. It registered in his mind like a beacon, a switch going on and off. He noticed that he wasn't the only one that noticed it too, as the creatures looked in that direction.
He wondered what he would find there.
