An Untold Story
I had to write it down, I mustn't forget I mustn't lose my memories or my mind. I must remember who I am—My name is Ronn.
Day 1
Screams, screams, so many agonizing screams.
Never should I have made that deal with the whispers in my head.I damned myself to hell when I took that pill.
Putrid smells of rotten flesh carried strongly on the air. It made me feel nauseous as the unbearable heat caused me to sweat through my working shirt.
I turned left to right, trying to make sense of it all. Many others were here. I watched them rise from the broken, cracked grounds as they stumbled to their feet. Some puked on the floor, others huddled together.
They all looked like how I felt: scared, lost and confused. Where the hell were we? It looked similar to a deformed version of my city.
In the distance loud shrieking noises of what I could not identify it made my body shudder in response.
First, it was one, then it was many.
My gut told me something was wrong as my eyes instinctively looked for an escape.
Carefully watching with distrustful eyes the people that lingered around me.
Despite all of this, one man stepped up giving inspiration to those around him. He said we all just needed to work together.
Something was definitely wrong, everything was too quiet.
This man's voice boomed over everything. More people gathered to him, getting curious about what he was saying. He stood on top of the remnants of a car.
Then it happened as a leader emerged to gather and inspire the broken people. This was when I got my first taste of genuine despair and that we were not alone here.
A calming horrific beauty, its naked body laid bare. Its two large brown wings dominated the sky. A slender shape, beast like legs with a long chain-like tail, which twitched left and right. Its two horns pointed towards us on its head and two claw-like crab hands outstretched as it moved forward. My eyes couldn't move from it. Sudden manly urges dominated my mind.
Nobody moved, no words were spoken as it landed behind the self-proclaimed leader. That was the only sound that could be heard. He turned slowly to face it. It passed its sharped claws upon his cheek. Before laying bare its hostile intent.
He was about to speak and its tail pierced his chest. He gurgled on his own blood, looking down. The surprise was written on his face as his eyes met mine for one moment. It wasted no time as it tore into his flesh.
There were screams, cries and in panic, we all ran. It licked its claws, paying us no mind as we scattered like sheep.
Day 10
Food and water were all scarce. The ground did not produce it. The sky did not rain. Scattered about bits and pieces were the few remnants of anything that remained.
Not enough to feed a beggar.
If things didn't change my body soon will show this fact.
I scavenged what I could. I hid from everything and everyone. Only my hunger and my thirst made me go out to leave the safety of this sanctuary. In here, I was safe. Unlike those idiots, I had a door. It kept most of the cursed wind out, but the heat was still unbearable. Safe? Even though I could hear their screams. Yes, it was my safe zone and no one else even the monster knew that.
That is why they wait for me to leave.
Damn this heat.
Why did I have to eat, I had just gotten somewhat accustomed of tasting my own pee.
I got myself up when I thought it safe. I opened the door of the compact room that I had now called home.I will be back home soon. I grabbed the bloodied, blunt weapon I had made.
It was always better to steal than to scavenge.
Day 52
Even though it was an accident. I couldn't control my watering mouth. Human flesh tasted far better than I could imagine. I had no choice, it was either he is eaten or I died.
I can't let good meat go to waste, are let the monsters have it.
Who really were the monsters, anyway?
It was a miracle. I had survived for so long given all the horrors in this place.
How long will this nightmare last? I feel my sanity slipping.
I can no longer sleep. I fear speaking too loud and last night I heard scrapes on my door.
The screams, the screams, they never end.
A hungry man was a deadly man.
Day 125
On my day looking for food. I met a person. No, she was a god. She had to be she slew all the monsters without batting an eye. She moved faster than the human eye could follow. She said she was creating a place for humans to live.
She saved my life and fed me. She has this glow that makes my heartbeat strong. I want to serve her forever.
She gave me hope in this darkness.
She called herself Ash.
Day 365
Mee Ash lat latrebc... Ash, I am sorr....
