He didn't stay the night, and he didn't say much afterwards, but she didn't take it personally.

She'd put him through a lot of shit, and he was probably scared to death of getting suck back into her vortex of doom and misery.

Quinn sent Jake home with him because there was no reason for him to stick around and see Piper's melt down.

The other girl was going to be pissed when she saw her stuff, but she was going to be damn right devastated when she found out Quinn was kicking her ass out.

She'd fight but, in the end, there was nothing she could do about it. If she left quietly, Quinn would make sure the other girl continued receiving her allowance until she was nineteen. She was also going to make sure her dad paid the rent on her and her mom a nice place.

It was more than they deserved, but her dad did marry Em and he slept with Piper, so she figured he deserved to have to pay something.

If Piper raised too much stink or if she even thought to ruin her dad's reputation, then Quinn would make sure the other girl got nothing.

By law, he broke no laws. His character could be called into question, but if he lost clients or if his partners wanted him out, then Piper wouldn't end up with anything.

Even if Em took him to court, Piper still ended up with nothing. Piper wasn't going to let that happen.

She was cruel, vindictive, and a spoil bitch, but she wasn't a dumbass.

When Quinn showed up at school on Wednesday, she was sporting a black eye and a split lip, but she looked better than her stepsister did.

Piper looked so bad she wouldn't show her face in school till at least next week. By then, her dad should have the girl and her mother in their own place.

When her history class was over, she stayed sitting in her seat.

Mr. Rivera noticed and since he didn't have any backup, he stayed near the door, making sure to not actually be alone in the same room with her.

Poor dude, it must be hard to be wanted by every horny teenage girl in school when you're a good guy and just want to teach young minds.

"Is it too late for me to change my mind?"

"Mrs. Seaford isn't sure you can handle it."

"Neither am I."

"It will be long hours. You'll have people counting on you."

"Maybe it would be nice to have someone counting on me again."

"I'll talk to her. Why don't you help me out by not coming to class drunk anymore? It would also help if you weren't skipping every other class."

She felt pained just at the thought, but she owed Jake after abandoning him for four years. She needed to show him it was possible to pull yourself up out of the gutter, but lord, it would be nice if she could do it without being sober."

"Okay." She stood and slung her purse over her shoulder. "But starting tomorrow. My eye hurts like a... hurts and I'm leaving to trade my convertible in for a truck. It's white with big tires. I'm going to get a decal that says back off bit__."

She'd never been a convertible babe. It was Piper that demanded they had matching ones.

He shook his head. "Starting today. I'm sure you can pick up your truck after school. Get to class, Quinn."

"Fine, but just so you know, I'm not going to be one of those uptight theater quacks. I'll write, I'll help with songs, I'll even help Mrs. Seaford see my vision, but I'm not a theater quack. Those dudes are freaky."
