Chapter 1

~Zane's POV~

     I awoke to the sound of panting and groans of pain. I slowly swept my feet over the bed, walking towards my bedroom room. I walked down the hallways and arrived at the source of the noises.

The bathroom.

I steadily opened the white, Matt door. Inside sat my brothers. The blonde one hugged the toilet, vomiting non-stop while my brunette brother hugged the other, whispering things into his ear.

Garroth. My older brother, he was usually happy and cheerful, always smiling until three months ago. He came to my mother about stomach pains. My mother rushed him to the doctors and he was diagnosed with intestine cancer.

Next to Garroth sat the brunette, he soothing rubbed Garroth's back while whispering more sweet things to him.

Vlyad. My little brother. He always studied hard and loved to be around his friends. It wasn't until recently when he started staying in his room constantly, complaining about pain in his head. Like a caring mother, she took him to the doctors. And he was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

"Garroth...?" I asked, stalking towards him. I sat down on the other side of Vlyad, and begun to copy Vlyad's movements.

"The pain got worse Huh?" I asked, my eyes burning with pain for my brother. Why did this happen to us?

After three more waves of vomiting pure blood and whatever Garroth manged to eat without feeling uneasy, Garroth finally answered. "Yeah..." He muttered, throwing up almost right afterwards.

Vlyad's voice made me turn to him. "Oh, Hey mom." He spoke sadly, his eye lids falling but yet remained open.

I looked over my shoulder to see my mother. She was leaning against the doorway. Her black hair was ruffled and un-tamed. Mom's teal green eyes were dull and lifeless. Underneath her eyes were dropping purple bags. She had fallen into depression after I was diagnosed with depression and a eating disorder.

"Boys...." She greeted, almost tearing up at the signal word.

I sniffed, trying my best to remain calm. "Yes?" I asked, still soothing Garroth, who remained throwing up.

She walked into the bathroom, kneeling down in front of me so we could sit face to face.  She stared running her hand down my cheek. My pale skin felt a small spark at the meeting of the two. "I've decided too do something, I know you'll hate my for."

"W-What?" I gluped, thinking to myself what on earth she could mean. Please don't leave, Please don't leave, Please don't leave... Was the only thing I could think to myself.

Mom sighed, her teal eyes shining in pure pain. "Garroth...Vlyad... Zane..." Her words cracked at my name, was she held back her tears.

"I know we couldn't find Garroth a donor and we don't have enough money to do Vlyad's brain surgery. But I-I..."

She paused, calming herself down by biting into her lip. "Last week I tested myself and found out me and Garroth match."

I froze, she meant match as in...She'd give Garroth her intestine so he'd live. But... She'll die if she does that. "Mom! You can't do that!" I yelled angrily.

She smiled weakly, as if I hadn't said a word. "And after I die, the money you'll earn from my life insurance will be enough for you three to live off of and pay for Vlyad's surgery."

I felt tears fall down my face. I looked over to Garroth and Vlyad who stared at her in complete shock, their mouths hanging open. Garroth quickly whipped back to the porcelain throne, throwing up once more.

I stared at my mother who remained smiling even though tears started running down her face.

"W-When's the surgery?" I manged to speak, feeling my salty tears run over my lips.

"Next week..." She whispered, pulling my into hug. I listened to her soft and shaking voice as she whispered into my ear. "Zane, Take care of them for me okay? I know you have depression but please be strong, for them."

I nodded, feeling our raven black hair brush across each other. "I will, I promise..."

~~~
I clutched onto the my brother's hand.  He laid in a hospital bed. The walls around us were lime green with white stripes. Three wooden chairs sat on the left of Garroth's sky blue bed. On the right were heart monitors and other equipment. Hanging from the ceiling was a small TV playing a random channel Garroth had put on.
I grasped onto his hand tighter, as I watched his eyes flutter open. For the first time in months his eyes weren't dull. They weren't unhappy. They were alive...
"Stay alive for me okay?" I asked, my breathing starting to hitch.
He smiled, looking over to me. "The doctors said I'm not going to die..." He soothed.
I smiled weakly and we just stayed like that for a moments before the sound of the hospital room doors opening. I looked over to see a young lady. She wore a sky blue shirt with a stethoscope wrapped around her neck. She wore baggy pants of the same color. Her blonde hair was held back in a tight pony tail and her olive eyes were full of kindness.
"Zane, We must get Garroth ready for his intestine transfer. Please leave and wait in the waiting area until the procedure has been completed. Alright?" She spoke with a smile, gesturing to the door besides her.
I nodded, looking back at Garroth. I unlocked our hands and steadily stood up. Walking towards the door. With only one thought in my mind.
Please don't let me lose two family members tonight.
