She could have sworn such dark events had never happened when she used to live in Beacon Hills years ago. Eden couldn't help but wonder whether it was her return that had somehow triggered a switch in the supernatural nature of the town, but Scott had assured her that that wasn't the case ─ things had been a chaotic mess since he turned into a werewolf.

But Eden couldn't help but slightly welcome the needed distraction. She knew how awful it sounded ─ people were dying ─ but, for the first time, she didn't find it as overwhelming, because she wasn't alone. Not entirely.

Instead, she was zoning out her chemistry class as she listened to Isaac, Scott and Stiles argue between who was to blame for the murders around town.

"The kid was murdered by a garrote, right?" Eden whispered, as Scott gave a curt nod to confirm her question. "That seems like a very anti-werewolfy way to murder someone."

Stiles raised his eyebrows in agreement, while Isaac clenched his jaw. "No, you didn't see how the twins looked at each other. They definitely did it."

"Why is my theory about human sacrifices so hard to believe?" Stiles groaned, leaning his head on his arms in frustration. "Two of you literally have your eyes turn into yellow glow sticks, hair grows from your cheeks and if I were to stab you right now, it would magically heal in a matter of seconds. How are human sacrifices hard to grasp?"

"He's got a point, human sacrifices sound a lot more logical." Eden tilted her head, playing with a pen between her fingers. Squirming under Isaac's narrowed gaze, she shrugged. "What? A few days ago, I didn't even know werewolves existed. Besides, I've watched Twilight. Werewolves have claws."

Scott raised an eyebrow, amused at the blonde. "Is that where you get your supernatural knowledge from?"

"Do vampires exist?" Eden leaned towards Scott, blue eyes wide as she asked seriously.

Ignoring the trio, Isaac clenched his jaw as he raised his hand, attracting the teacher's attention to him. "Mr Harris, can I use the bathroom please?"

Scott and Stiles shared a worried look at what the curly-haired boy might get up to as he exited the classroom. By the way Scott's ears perked slightly, Stiles could tell it meant trouble was awaiting outside, as he pushed his chair back. "Mr Harris, I also really need the bathroom. It's a medical emergency."

Mr Harris raised a stoic eyebrow, completely unfazed. "Mr. McCall, if your bladder suddenly exploded, and urine began to pour from every orifice, I would still say one at a time."

As Scott took a defeated seat, Eden rolled her eyes before standing up herself, muttering under her breath "Guess I have to deal with this myself."

"Miss Greer, was the hyperbole not vivid enough for you?" Mr Harris retorted, crossing his arms over his chest.

Eden shifted her weight, widening her eyes. "You see, Mr Harris, I'm really embarrassed to say this allowed, but, well, I'm on my period and I fear if I might bleed through my jeans and ─"

"Okay!" Mr Harris interrupted, the top of his ears tinted pink. "Fine. You can go to the bathroom too. But just you."

Smirking triumphantly, Eden went to the bathroom, ignoring Stiles' scoff as he shook his head at the teacher. "Unbelievable."

Exiting the classroom, Eden slowly approached Isaac, who stood in the middle of the hallway as equally confused as her. There stood the twins, as one of them bashed the head of the other against the locker. Tilting her head slightly mesmerised, she muttered under her breath. "Is this some kind of weird fetish I don't want to know about?"

"I'm as lost as you are." Isaac responded, fair eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

The pair of blondes swivelled around as the classroom door slammed behind them, and Mr Harris stared at them bewildered. "What the hell is going on here?"

When Eden turned to explain, she found the only twin remaining was the injured one, blood dripping from his mouth, and became aware of how the situation looked. Pressing her lips together, she scrunched her nose. "I know this looks really bad─"

"He came at me." Ethan muttered, pointing at Isaac as he pretended to wince in pain.

"Detention, Mr Lahey."

Eden's mouth dropped agape at the injustice of it all. "But Mr Harris, it wasn't Isaac! It was Aidan, he left before you came."

"You seriously expect me to believe that Ethan's twin brother beat him up?" Mr Harris rhetorically asked, and when Eden opened her mouth to argue, he raised his hand. "Quiet, or you'll get detention too, Miss Greer."

Isaac reached out to grab Eden's wrist, his soft touch erasing the argument on her lips. He shook his head softly, a blonde curl falling above his eyes. "Forget it, it's fine."

After a beat of hesitation, Eden nodded, letting the subject go. Isaac would have to face detention. The class shook the event off as they each went their separate ways.

But Stiles couldn't shake the way Isaac had grabbed Eden's wrist, caramel eyes burning holes into their figures.

Eden jumped out of the shotgun seat of Stiles' jeep, locking the door behind her. Almost immediately after school, Stiles had dragged her to see some guy the pack knew to further investigate his theory about human sacrifices. What Eden failed to understand is why the freckled boy needed her by his side.

"Well," Stiles hesitated, rolling the sleeves of his flannel up to his elbows. "To begin with, you're the only one that actually believes me about the human sacrifices."

"I didn't say I believed it, I just said it sounded more plausible." Eden retorted, an amused glance as Stiles ignored her comment.

"And second, I wanted to keep an eye on you." underneath her stare, he added "There is a murdered out there, whoever it is."

Eden crossed her arms over her chest. "What makes you believe that I need you looking after me? After all, Scott and Isaac are the actual ones with super speed and strength."

Hesitating, Stiles scrunched his nose. In reality, Stiles knew she hadn't given it a second thought, but he couldn't get out of his mind the night they spend together. Her hands on his skin was a moment that replayed around in his mind almost every second of the day, and seeing Eden act so nonchalant slightly hurt him. "They're too busy chasing after the alpha twins. Besides, I think that, deep down, you actually enjoy my presence."

"That's because you're mentally unstable." Eden muttered under her breath, but couldn't fight off the smile of her face either. Standing outside a murky building, her blue eyes glanced at the entrance with a weary look. "So, where are we actually doing here?"

Stiles rubbed his hands together, fidgeting. "So, there's this guy, Deaton. He's technically a vet, but he's also an expert on all the supernatural stuff. If there's anyone who will know about sacrifices, it's him." he glanced over at Eden, licking his lips. "Besides, he might know something about what you are."

Eden shifted her stance, pinching the skin of her forearm. She wasn't entirely sure what she wanted to know about her powers, or whatever they were called. As Stiles grabbed the handle to enter, Eden hesitated. "Stiles . . . if you think you can save me, you should know you can't. You can't save me."

A beat of silence reigned over the two as his caramel eyes searched hers. "Do you need to be saved, Eden?"

She didn't respond as he opened the door, saving her from an answer as the two entered the building. Watching them approach, Deaton sent Eden a careful look before sending Stiles a question in his eyes. "Deaton, this is Eden. She's also part of the supernatural pack, but what she is exactly we don't know."

Deaton pulled his gloves off, his eyes paying more attention to Eden, who squirmed beneath his gaze. "So, what's your problem?"

Hesitating, the blonde diverted the topic of conversation. "Well, I'm an alcoholic and a drug addict, if that helps."

"No, that's how you've been dealing with your problem."

But Eden didn't want to discuss herself, eyes darting between Stiles and Deaton. She'd rather talk about the murders, or sit through chemistry class. Luckily, she was saved by a phone ringing, as Stiles dug through his pocket to answer. "Hey, I can't talk right n─ wait, are you sure he's missing?"

At the news of Mr. Harris' disappearance, Stiles drove Deaton and Eden back to the school, where Lydia was waiting with a strange recording on her phone. Stiles flicked through the files in the desk as Deaton considered the possibility of sacrifices. "Each grouping of three would have its own purpose, its own type of power. Virgins, healers, philosophers, warriors . . ."

"Wait, warriors as in soldiers?" Stiles interrupted. When Deaton nodded in confirmation, Stiles pulled out a picture of one of the victim's. "Kyle was in ROTC with Boyd."

Lydia slightly widened her eyes, a red lock pushed behind her ear. "Mr. Harris was a cadet."

"That explains his disappearance." Stiles muttered, forming a connection between the three.

"Death." Eden added. The group turned to her, her face pale and sunken as her blue eyes seemed lost in thought. Shaking her head, she gulped. "Mr. Harris is dead."

"Shit." Stiles muttered, running a hand through his hair.

Deaton frowned, glancing at the blonde. "You can hear the dead?"

Lydia snapped her gaze up. "You didn't tell him?"

"It slipped my mind!" Eden retorted exhasperated, avoiding Deaton's curious gaze.

"You know, I've never met a clairvoyant before."
