You stood, staring at the house deviously as the snow silently landed on the blanketed ground and atop your head. Froggit seemed not too happy about the cold snow but stayed quiet.
The plans swam throughout your brian until air around you started to change from sneaky, to happy and sort of... oblivious? Your eyes glided to your right, only to meet a boney spine and just a bit lower a hip bone, that of a skeloton. Your body stiffened as you quickly looked away from the figure.
Nothingness resided in your mind, you feared for your life, only one thing slid through your conscious.
It's Sans.
But then once that thought came in, multiple other confused thoughts followed as well.
Wait... Sans isn't that tall... and his hip is pretty close to mine!
You frowned and looked up at the imposter.
"PRETTY GREAT HOUSE EH?"
The loudness of his words took you by surprise and made you flinch away from him. Froggit hopped away as well and Whimsun, who resided inside your sweater pocket jumped in fear and began to shake.
"WELL OF COURSE IT NEEDS TO BE GREAT, FOR I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS MUST RESIDE THERE." He glanced down out you proudly, "AFTER ALL, I HAVE STANDARDS!" He beamed happily.
The three of you were not as happy, although you did begin to attempt a sort of conversation. "You... live here?" you asked a bit shocked. How many skeletons live in that house?
"OH YES! I DO! WITH MY BROTHER!"
Two... shut up me!
"HE IS SO LAZY AND ANNOYING! HE NEVER PICKS UP AFTER HIMSELF AND NEVER ACTUALLY DOES HIS JOB AND NEVER-"
You stopped listening to the loud skeleton and tried to save your ears by pulling the strings on Ike's hat making the flaps close to your head a bit more. Froggit was cringing and sort of hopping away to a safe area where his ears won't start to ring.
"-I ALWAYS HAVE TO FEED HIS PET ROCK AND-"
You waved your hand quickly to get his attention, and his eyes went to you "YES? WHAT IS IT?" He asked.
You smiled, "Well, actually, I was about to get revenge on Sans!"
Papyrus tilted his head, "REVENGE?" Gears turned in his head and he sighed, irritatedly pressing his forehead to his hands. "OH NO, WHAT HAS MY BROTHER DONE THIS TIME?"
You smiled gratefully that he was willing to listen. "Well actually he—"
"HAS HE LEFT SOCKS ALL OVER YOUR LIVING ROOM TOO?!" He asked horrified, yet somewhat suspecting.
"No I—?"
"UGH I SWEAR HE CAN NEVER KEEP ANYTHING TIDY!" He turned his wistful gaze to you. "I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE HE'S CAUSED."
Well, that's probably the closest you were gonna get to explaining the situation.
"Uh... thanks." You waved your hand, bringing yourself back to what's important. "But yeah, I just want to prank him because the uh... amount of socks he keeps leaving in my living room is getting ridiculous."
His permanent grin turned excited, mischievous even. "ALRIGHTY THEN! I'VE BEEN MEANING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT HIS ATTITUDE TOWARDS WORK AND THIS MAY HELP!"
You smiled and stretched your arm above your head, making your hand level with his face ready for a solid high five, "Alright! That's what I like to hear!"
The skeleton grinned at your hand, confused as to what you where showing him. So of course like the loser you are, you highfived yourself. "Okay. So the guy lives here!" You pointed to the house.
Papyrus gasped "IT LOOKS JUST LIKE MY HOUSE!"
You laughed, thinking he was joking but he frowned at you immediately after hearing your amusement. "THEY RIPPED OFF MY HOUSE'S DESIGN!!!" He held his head and ran around in angry circles, "I CAN'T BELIEVE THE NERVE OF THIS GUY!!"
"Papyrus! This is y—"
"I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!! GIVE ME SOMETHING TO THROW!!"
You shrugged and reached into you bag, trying to search for something. A... half eaten... granola bar..? You shrugged and handed it to the skeleton.
He whipped it at the house, bouncing off of the siding harmlessly as he let out a strange battle cry, "NYEH HEH HEH HEH!"
Holding back a giggle you balled up a snow ball then threw it at the house then attempting to copy papyrus' battle cry "Neh hyeh HYEH!"
Papyrus smiled triumphantly, "MY FRIEND, YOU AND I ARE GOING TO BE THE GREATEST TEAM AROUND!!" He pointed to himself with pride, "I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS!" He put his out to you in a grand arc. "AND YOU, THE GREAT... UM..."
He knelt down beside you and and whispered, "I'm sorry but what's your name?"
You smiled inwardly, "I'm Y/n."
Papyrus did not waste a second and he lifted to his feet whilst yelling. "AND THE GREAT Y/N! THE GREATEST DUO SINCE GRILLBY AND FOOD!!!"
This skeleton may have been loud, but hell if he wasn't fun! You slung an arm around his ribs awkwardly because of the size difference. Papyrus noticed, so he picked you up as if a child and held you on his hip.
"TO VICTORY!!!" Your cried, hand flinging forth triumphantly.
Unexpectedly, Whimsun floated out of your pocket —admittedly, you forgot she was there— and with all of her courage she cried out. "Nyeh heh heh..." it was barely over a whisper.
Papyrus beamed at his new found friends "WOWIE! A Y/N AND A WHIMSUN WANT TO BE FRIENDS?! THIS IS MY LUCKY DAY!!"
You smiled along with the sweet moment before turning your head back to the home with a dramatic point of the finger. "Onwar—!" Suddenly your mouth was full of snow. The impact took you so off guard you fell right out of Papyrus's hold and back first into the snow.
Froggit burst out into laughter and rolled about in the cold as Whimsun and Papyrus looked at you worriedly. "MY FRIEND! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!" He asked hurriedly.
You coughed a couple times as you hastily looked around, scanning your surroundings only to see the bony ass himself standing on the house's deck.
"Sans..." You muttered bitterly as he stared you down. You growled and grabbed a fistful of snow on your way to your feet before trudging towards him.
His grin seemed a bit more like a satisfied smirk. "Finally showing your true colo-"
A cold ball of snow zipped over and smashed perfectly into one of his surprised eye sockets.
Papyrus, Froggit and even Whimsun broke out into a chorus of laughter. "WOWIE Y/N! YOU HAVE QUITE THE ARM!" He declared in amazement.
You grinned back at the other before facing Sans again, smugly lifting your jaw in his direction.
Sans grunted and the snow in his eye rapidly melted. He made his way down the decks stairs and swiftly scooped some snow off the railing into a tight ball before firing it straight at you.
You dropped to the ground and it whizzed past. Hitting Papy right in the forehead and he fell back into the snow, interrupting his loud string of 'NYEH HEH HEH!'s
Sans eyes widened before nervously smiling. "Oops... sorry Pap." He called to his unresponsive brother.
Whimsun's shocked little face peered down at the poor monster. "P-Papyrus?" She asked hesitantly.
Papyrus' head popped up with a condensed bit of snow still on his forehead. His eyes were wide and looking opposite directions. "SAAAANNS!!! THIS MEANS WAR!!"
His lanky body scrambled up to its feet and he picked up a big snow ball and lobbed it at Sans, sadly... He couldn't quite throw it hard enough so it just fell on top of you.
You yelled and thrashed around as the cold substance slid down your back. "AH! AH! COLD!!" You pulled yourself out of the pile of snow and quickly retaliated, throwing a shoddily made snow ball at Papyrus. He dodged it and began throwing more snow balls indiscriminately, even Froggit joined in.
Soon everyone was throwing snow at each other. Whimsun had tried to play as well, but once she had rolled something up that her small little hands could hold, it blew away in the wind, leaving poor little whimsy empty handed and unable to join in.
A few monsters had seen what was going on outside and even came to join in the fun. By the time the height of the fight rolled around there were at least twenty monsters all running around and throwing compacted snow at each other, laughing and yelling. A dinosaur-like child ran over, who ironically had no arms, but he made the best of it and rolled up a bunch of snow with his feet for everyone else and was enthusiastically cheering everyone on.
You were fighting a bunny girl with long brown ears and a large pink jacket that made her look three times the size she actually was. But while throwing snow at her, you saw out of the corner of your eye that Sans was about to sneak attack Froggit. So you swiftly ran up behind Sans and jumped at him while you screamed "Froggit! Hop away! Hop AWAY!!"
The green monster looked back and gasped, jumping quickly away from Sans.
You had tackled Sans just as he was turning around, making him fall and lose his grip on the snow ball he made. Both of you toppled down into the romped in snow.
Once Sans hit the ground with you on his back, it was a quiet atmosphere, only around you both though. Everyone else was still playing.
All of a sudden Sans started to laugh "Y/n!" he said your name in a strangely happy manner as his deep voice kept wavering in his fit of chuckles.
You were shocked at first but soon found the humour in how ridiculous you were to jump on Sans.
You rolled off of his back and laid next to him, one arm rested over your face and the other sprawled out on the snow like your legs were. You were laughing so hard you felt tears start to form in your eyes, it looked as if Sans was in the same boat as you, because when you looked over at him he was on his side, holding his (nonexistent) gut tightly, his bones shivered and clattered with themselves as he laughed his cares away.
"H-Holy Shit kid!" he laughed. You hit his shoulder weakly "H-Hey! Lan-guage!" you giggled out, barely able to breathe.
It was almost you both forgot why this snowball fight even started in the first place.
As you calmed down you watched your breath puff out into the chilly air. You smiled softly then looked over at San who was done laughing and feeling content as well. He was looking at you with a seemingly sincere smile and eyes that were at peace.
You lightly nudged him "See, you don't hate me."
Sans' eyes seemed to turn surprised. He quickly looked back up at the ceiling of the underground. It looked like he was trying to comprehend your words, until finally an irritated sigh left him and he looked over at you with an irritated and angry glare.
"It would be easier if I did, wouldn't it?" it was a rhetorical question.
You laid there in silence despite the joy of everyone else still throwing snow at each other.
It was nice.
Sans stood to his feet after a while and reluctantly offered you a hand, as if he were fighting with himself about it.
You gave him a happy-go-lucky grin and grabbed his hand firmly, he looked like he had been shocked and was immediately worried. He hoisted you up to your feet
...
But he did not let go of you, he looked as if he was paralyzed with fear. You gazed at your hand that was still inter locked with his. "Uh... Sans? You okay?"
A sudden frown washed over him as he ripped his hand out of yours and turned away from you coldly returning to his home, leaving you the odd one out among all the people having fun in the snow.
