It was quiet in there aside from the slightest of a hum bouncing off the cement walls. Once the three of you turned a corner the hum seemed to get a bit more audible making your time to figure out a plan become a bit more rushed. Without realizing Asgore stopped walking, you ran right into his back letting out a small 'oof.'

He chuckled a bit then put his enormous paw flat against a towering, unbelievable re-enforced door and pushed it open, letting the small hum become a loud, baritone sound that pulsates gently through the air.

Following the regal monster inside there was a tall walkway type thing that rhythmically switched from black to white only for the two shades to run down, into the barrier. It was gigantic, it had to be about as tall as the Calgary tower, maybe taller.

It was honestly a bit surprising, you just figured there was a racist magic rock that only liked humans that sat in front of an exit point. But this was far more impressive.

Peeling your eyes from the barrier you looked to Frisk, who was still holding Flowey as gently as they could. The child looked to you and have a small, almost unnoticeable smile, while the Flower spotted you but quickly looked away with a frown like a child.

You ignored him as best you could as you went over to Frisk. "Do you think we can break the barrier?" You said upon arrival. The child looked a bit shocked at your question then pondered it for a moment and looked to you with a frown. "Look I can't understand you. Can you talk?"

The flower in the child's hand twisted his petal covered head and watched the you both try and interact.

The child shook their head.

"Okay, but do you think we can break the barrier?"

Frisk took a moment and then shrugged with a slight nod. That was, admittedly, better odds than you were expecting. You smiled a bit "That's good enough for me!"

Frisk nodded along with you as you both turned to the barrier. Sans walked up to you both, slumped slightly with a questioning look on his white face. "What're you two doing?"

You smirked proudly as you looked at him. "We're conniving." The child next to you nodded along when Sans looked at them. He raised what would be an eyebrow as he looked back to you again. "...About what?" He seemed to have a good idea about what you were 'conniving' about, but he wanted to be sure.

"We're busting you all outta here."

Frisk seemed to be getting more and more pumped up by the second because they lifted their hands above their head in a triumphant way. The best part of that was that Flower was still in their little hands as they flung their hands up and down, most likely giving the cursing flower a killer headache.

Sans sighed then chuckled half heartedly at both humans and stuffed his boney hands into his scuffed up sweater. "I hope you know what you're doing." He said in a slightly worried tone. You nodded along with him and faced back to the barrier. "Me too."

Sans gave you a small, slightly surprised look but it seemed like he sort of expected that from you. Before he could object you swiftly interjected. "But I'm not giving up until you're free on the surface." You said with a note of finality in your voice. The skeleton sighed, covering his worry as best as he could then looked at the barrier again. "Y/n, I don't want you trapped down here too. It's not exactly something you would want."

A frown crossed your face lightly as his words ran through your mind a few times. However after a moment the stoic look you wore melted into a genuine smile as you gazed lovingly over to him. "Well, it wouldn't be all bad if you were still kicking around here too." You admitted, nudging him playfully.

The sincerity in your voice at this revelation made Sans eye sockets look as if they widened to the sizes of saucers. His soul did flips, dives and somersaults at this fact. That you would truly be happy, trapped down here with him, even with knowing the sun, knowing the stars, knowing the Surface. You'd be willing to give it all up, to never see or experience it ever again. All for a life with him.

His constant grin finally felt as if it were meant to be there, the overwhelming sentiment he felt was unbelievable and made him well up. He turned his whole body towards you and grabbed you by your hand, getting a slightly surprised look from you but not objecting to his actions. He pulled you closer to him until he could finally wrap his arms around your frame, keeping you as close to him as possible.

Frisk made small 'ooh' sounds, pointing at the both of you while jumping up and down happily. Asgore saw this and was quick to cover the child's tiny eyes, with an uncomfortable face of his own. Flowey was putting his leave in his mouth making little gagging noises, only to be smacked upside the head by Frisk.

Sans drank your aura in like it was something he needed to survive as he dug his face into the crook of your neck. The sudden emotion shown from Sans gave you a start, but you really felt his love overflowing which made your heart swell.

You let out a hitched breath and smiled widely, a few stray tears fell from your eyes as you were quick to return his uncommon affection, resting your head on his sweater covered shoulder.

Pure, raw feelings flowed between you both. It was incredible how much you both truly loved each other. Both willing to give the other everyone they had.

You clung to Sans' body which held you tightly to him in a strong hug. He pulled his head back and you followed suit to look at each other. You both had tears running happily down your cheeks. He moved his cool hand from your waist and cupped your face in it and swiped his thumb across the teary trails, drying your face ever so slightly.

Jolted from these mutual feelings you placed your hands on either side of his head, going down until they reached his jaw line. Both of you tilted your heads forward, pressing your foreheads together gently, wearing the most genuine grins that you'd ever seen. This sped up your heart rate incredibly fast and made your mind race. You'd never quite felt this way before and it was new but nonetheless exhilarating.

Once you closed your eyes a burst of energy seemed to push its way into both you and Sans before it bounced back and exploded outwardly everywhich way. Sending ripples of power through the air.

You felt your soul grow, it seemed to be so much more than before. Sans seemed to yank his head back in surprise while your eyes snapped open in shock and flicked to him, searching for answers only for both you and him to become more than confused at the feeling. "What was that?" You asked to which he shrugged. "Beats me the heck outta me." He said through aight chuckle, however his lighthearted nature seemed to dim a little when he sort of frowned in thought, then looked up at the barrier.

He grabbed your hand (not that you minded) in his then gave his soul out to you once again. You happily did the same and another wave of power emanated from you both, but this time you saw, just in time, that the whole barrier wiggled side to side from the sudden burst of power.

Timidly you looked over to an eager Sans, grinning up at that vulnerable state it was in for a moment. "We can break it down." He whispered. Quickly turning to you to you with a newly lit fire in his soul he exclaimed "We can break it down!"

A matching grin spread across your face as you started jumping up and down. "No fucking way. No fucking way!! That's what that was?" He nodded quickly in response.

"Let's do that again then!" You said, hope at an all time high. "Let's." He chuckled happily as a determined look crossed his boney white face.

Turning towards the barrier along side you, concentrating. You closed your eyes and rolled your neck a bit making Sans squeeze your hand reassuringly.

You both offered each other's souls to one another, only for them to somewhat merge in a way.

The power only grew, knowing this was going to be the way out for the monsters. So your channeled Charas soul into the power ball that seemed to be forming. Frisk pulled Ashore hand away from their eyes only to see that you and Sans were going to break the barrier.

The child, excited and ready to kick some barrier butt, escaped the goatish king and ran towards seal of the underground, puffing their chest out then and used their soul against the barrier too, separately trying to bust the barrier down.

Asgore watched in amazement as the thing he's always seen as unbreakable began to waver, and dangerously at that. He figured he may as well help in any way he can as his hope had skyrocketed from how close they were and pulled out his red triton and stabbed as viciously as he could at the floor of the alternating black and white colours.

Peeking over at Sans just in the nick of time you were able to witness his left eye bursting into a brilliant blue flame that sort of took you by surprise, making you jump. "Holy Christ." You muttered in awe of him. He laughed and glanced over at you as well making you grin like an idiot. Then determination washed over you in a tidal wave when you stated firmly. "You're going to see the sun."

A sudden familiar black mist exploded from both of you and the horns once again pushed out of your scalp like a goddamn playdough fun factory.

A marble effect of colour decorated the mist with both f/c and Sans' blue. It was brimming with both magic and determination, all swirled together elegantly.

In unison Sans and you raised your hands up. The mist followed the direction and collected in and iridescent and enlivened cloud above you both, constantly shifting and changing like a snake coiled amongst itself.

A moment of triumph passed before both hands flung down towards the target, sending tons upon tons of the misty shards plummeting down, mercilessly grinding against each other while racing as swift as possible.

The barriers stability was collapsing rapidly under the constant fire of the seemingly unending shards of soul.

However a sudden low crack sounded, as if the sky itself was splitting open. It was incredible.

You both closed your fist and the mist stopped it's deadly attack the let the most evaporate as you both separated souls. You sort of missed his presence in your soul but you didn't dwell on it long as you watched the damage fester for a bit while listening to the barrier groan lowly as it's magic decayed at an incredible pace. Frisk followed suit and stopped trying to push at the barrier. Asgore however was still stabbing and prodding at it angrily.

"AAAHHHHHH!!!" He battlecried, bringing his weapon up once more in a last hurrah and digging itself far down into the pulsating magic.

This last blow sent cracks all through it's structure, tipping the scales in your favour. A piece fell, then another and another, once almost landed atop the King if he wasn't as quick to jump out of the way as he was.

Casting a glance in Sans direction you could practically feel his yearning for the surface. You smiled at him and looked back to the crumbling spell that held up for so many years.

However the odd looking rubble sat in the way of the exit. A small wave of panic flushed through the group until the pieces began to poof away. One by one they all turned to a puff of smoke until there was nothing in the way.

The only thing between the monsters and freedom now was a small magic haze floating around and their fear of what the humans may think of them. But that didn't seem to be a big concern among many.

Frisk jumped up and down, at the sight of the slight glow of light filtering through the clouds before dashing off out to the surface, disappearing from view in the thick fog with Flowey tightly in hand.

Asgore quickly ran after the child, scared they may get lost or something to that nature.

"So what's next?" You asked. Sans looked at you like you were crazy. "What are you talking about?!" He laughed. "Well, are you sure you want to go up there right now? You may not want to go back and tell everyone once you're free." You said with a teasing smirk, making Sans only roll his white pinprick pupils at you. However his gaze seemed to stop at the top of your head. "Uh Y/n?"

A frown crossed your face as his sudden staring "What? What's wrong?" He shook his head and put up his hands. "Nothing! Nothing! I mean... Well, actually it depends on what you think is bad." He concluded still staring at your head, which stared to make you nervous.

Timidly you reached up, unsure what you were expecting. Your fingertips came in contact with something cool and bumpy, shaped in a curl. You visibly jumped at the touch.

The horns! They hadn't gone back!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. How am I gonna wear Ike's toque now?

You gave a small, unhappy grunt at this turn of events, making Sans try not to laugh. "I mean, it's not that noticable if you don't look in that general area."

You grinned at him playfully and rolled your eyes. "Fuck off." You said crossing your arms in a pouting manner.

"You can always get them shaved down or something." He suggested in somewhat of a joking manner, but it really could be a serious question when you thought about it.

In fact the more you thought about it the more you realized that this was something you could wear with pride. You were the one who stopped Chara from ever being able to reset the timeline again, you helped defeat a flower that was threatening all of monster kind, you were one of the people who brought down the barrier and you came to understand close to all of the monsters, they either loved you or hated you but either way you had an impact on probably everyone in the underground. You'd been through so much with these monster's, been through so much with Sans that you figured it was worth having something like this to prove your story.

Finally you replied to him. "Nah, I think I'll keep them." You said poking at them with an unsteady hand. He seemed to sort of light up at the fact you were embracing it which was something he did not expect, after all you'd been through so much shit down there he'd want to forget most of it. With a small shake of his head he said. "Heh, well they look good on ya Y/n. And I'm going to make a lot of horny jokes with them."

He meant corny, he meant it as a pun of some sort. But it did not turn out that way. Very much the opposite actually.

You shot him the most disgusted and disappointed look you could make. "Ew Sans. Ew." In that moment he wished he could stop smiling as he started to sweat just a little bit while looking the other way awkwardly.

"Oh well! The barrier is open! Freedom and such awaits!" You said quickly putting an end to the worst attempted joke in history. He was super glad that you forced you both to get over it in such a timely manner.

You looked at Sans with a grin. "You ready?" You asked nudging his side with yours. Sans smiled and looked back at you again with a soft expression eased onto his face. "Thank you Y/n. You were worth the wait." His words spoke volumes as he gently took your hand in his and walked towards the outside world he'd been neglected of for so long.

Right before you both stepped into the fog you spoke up. "Wait." You both stopped just before the blanket of clouds as you looked at Sans with a teasing smile. "Should we tell Jerry about this?"

Sans was quiet for a moment before casually saying. "Absolutely not."

Laughing, you both stepped into the long awaited life you both were always meant to share.
