A light cough caught your attention, pulling your eyes from the frog-like monster only to land on the ketchup sented skeleton Sans. You pulled Ike's toque out of your face when froggit pushed it over your eyes.
"Heh, sorry to ruin this little moment" his permanent smile hid a bit of amusement behind it. Froggit took this opportunity in a heartbeat and jumped out of your loosened hold "No! Thank you!" he said glaring at you as he hopped towards Sans.
Sans laughed "Causing Hoppy some grief are we?"
Froggits glare went to Sans, he was about to say something but you beat him to it "Well, I'm his only friend, so it's almost an obligation!" you shot back with a tormenting grin directed at poor little Froggit.
"I'll have you know I have plenty of friends!"
Sans was chuckling pretty hard now "Jerry?"
Froggit rolled his eyes and started to hop out of the room"Hell no! He makes me want to kill!" he was just about to leave until you called out to him "But Froggit! Surely he can't be that bad!" you yelled frantically. He stopped in him tracks and turned to you over his slimy shoulder "Oh yeah? How would YOU know?"
You shrugged with a smirk threatening to show "well, you're a frog, so would eat what Bugs you!" Froggits eyes intensified at you, still keeping the angry frown. "That was probably the worst joke I've ever heard." he growled
Sans calmed his laughter and piped up "Well, it was okay, but I wasn't RIBBITTING!"
The poor monster looked as though he was going to burst. He quickly exited the room, leaving an almost visible trail of anger behind him.
You and Sans laughed as you watched Froggit walk out without saying anything else to either of you disappointments.
"Oh man! That poor guy!" Sans managed to choke out through the stream of laughs and giggles pouring out of his mouth. You waved your hand around "Nah, he'll be okay!" you said with a wide and true smile.
"So." Sans said with a happy and sort of pitying smile "how's the new foot?" he asked pointing a white and worn down bone finger towards your artificial foot and stepped into the room a bit more.
You shrugged "I dunno, like I told Froggit, I haven't tried it out yet. But I feel pretty badass with it."
Sans grin turned a life lopsided as his right eye looked a bit bigger, like there would be an eyebrow there that's lifting itself up. "You... are surprisingly okay with this."
You sighed "to be honest... I'm screaming on the inside, but I don't really have the energy to show unhappiness towards it." you said, staring at your metallic foot.
Sans look became a bit more amused "So what you're saying is you're just too lazy to be angry, so you're just cool with it now?"
The smile on your face slipped away and you faced Sans "Basically..." your e/c eyes went back to your foot "But I think it's growing on me-" Sans bit back his want to make a joke. "-the more I look at it, the more okay I am."
"Well, you should give it a spin." Sans suggested. To looked at him a bit surprised "Right now?" you said with an almost squeak. The skeleton shrugged "No time like the present."
"Huh... well... I guess you're right. I'm gonna have to use it anyway." you swung your legs off the side of the parked rolling bed "May as well get it ov-" you shut your mouth also instantaneously when you noticed your bare legs, flashing all the skin on them, you had no pants on at all. There was zero pants... this is a problem...
You just stared at them for a long moment then looked to Sans, who seemed unsure why you weren't doing anything "You okay there?" he asked with his hands in his pocket, he took a couple of his little strides closer to you until you put a hand out to tell him to stop his advance "I'm fine..." You flipped a blanket that sat down on the bed with you over top your naked legs. It was really awkward being only in your underwear and a shirt in front of him, and although Sans didn't seem to be affected by it, you sure were. Luckily for you, you had all the clothes you needed in your bag from your bartender and friend, Grillby.
Hey that would be a good slogan! Or something... I don't really know...
You cleared your throat and gave a serious look to the casually smiling monster, even if you heating cheeks betrayed your intentions of looking fine with it too.
You took in a deep breath through your nose of the air that held a light smell of copper in it and slowly shifted your weight from your body to your well weighed feet. As you pressed them to the cement you only felt the coolness on one foot, the other felt nothing, you even had to check them just to make sure both were on the ground.
You sighed and flicked your eyes up to Sans who stood idly by, waiting for you to take your first steps with your new foot. First your left foot, then your right, a smile cracked on your mouth as you started to go a bit faster.
You had made it that far until you stumble and land right on your back pack, a terrible sound of snapping wood and the pang of nylon strings stopped your heart for a moment. You didn't move from you spot on the ground, you didn't want to, trying to avoid the inevitable.
"Y/n?" Sans said with a less amused tone and watched you intently.
Careful not to cry, you shoved your hand into the bag for a pair of pants. Successfully you had gotten a pair without needing to look, sadly your hands weren't saved from the painful truth of a shattered bit of your life, but you stayed in a comfortable denial while blindly zipping the bag up and throwing in onto your back as you stood back up to your untrustworthy feet, your back turned to Sans.
He wore a questioning look "You okay?"
You blinked back the warm droplets and slid on the extra pants from the now terrifying bag. "Yeah." you said and turned towards him "I'm good."
Silence. He just stood there staring you down, he didn't look very convinced but I let it slide anyway "I was just thinking that maybe you should talk to Undyne."
You knew you had to, even if you were dreading it, so you tried not to think about what she would say or do when she saw you. It was best just to go for it.
"You nodded "okay let's go." you brushed past the bewildered skeleton, who prepared quite a few things to say to convince you to do so. It was quite the relief and surprisingly easy.
You followed the familiar murmurs that sounded like they belonged to the fish you had dueled.
They led you to a very polished room with top notch quality of everything. It was very different from the room you awoke in, the whole room looked as if it were cleaned with the tears of children and used the fragrance from Jesus' well groomed beard, flowers decorated the whole room and even streamers.
Smack dab in the middle sat the fierce blue fish, a fresh white bandage was wrapped over her shoulder and stayed in pace by rolling around her torso as well, Alphys stood close by, checking everything attached to Undyne every few seconds just to make sure everything was going smoothly.
Your e/c eyes shone with determination to face Undyne, ready to take whatever she was going to throw at you.
Undyne and Alphys were chatting happily together, Undyne spoke with such tenderness it was almost unbelievable she was even speaking and Alphys was smiling quite a bit. Her little hand started to tinker with the heart monitor but it was stopped by Undyne, who intercepted her hand with her own.
Alphys paused for a moment and stared at the fish with wide eyes and a now tomato face. "Thanks Alphys, for everything."
You really didn't want to end such a sweet moment, so you just waited a bit longer at the door. Sans walked up beside you, his eyes were a bit concerned till he looked to what you were looking at with such a fawning expression. A little bit of blue showed up on his cheeks and he quickly looked back at the dinosaur and fish, a bit of sweat broke out on him. He gently nudged your side, snapping you out of your stare.
You looked to him and he rolled his head in the direction of Undyne, urging you to do something. He gave you a look that told you he'd step in if he had to.
You sighed and stepped inside of the room clearing your throat just as Undyne and Alphys started to lean in. Undyne glared at you as Alphys jumped back, clearly embarrassed.
"Undyne..."
"Yeah? What.""
You stepped in closer making her shift around in her bed, she did not trust you around Alphys at all. But like usual, the monster had a good reason to feel that way.
"Undyne, I'm sorry for what I did to you, I swear, If I knew how to stop I would've done so."
The red head rolled his eyes "uh-huh, you couldn't stop trying to kill me. Aren't humans supposed to have an amazing amount of 'determination?'"
She had a point.
"Look you may not believe me but I really don't want to hurt anyone, it just happens, a demon takes over and I can do dick all about it!" you growled to yourself with a high amount of self loathing. "Come ON!! Enough with the excuses! It was all you!"
Your eyes widened in terror "N-No! I didn't do it on purpose! Another took control!"
Undyne cracked a smile "I'm just kidding! C'mon! Don't be so modest! You fought well against me!" she laughed very loudly and threw her head back.
You looked to Sans with a confused glance. He shrugged, he had absolutely no idea what was happening with his dear blue friend.
Turning back to Undyne, you noticed the huge bandage on her shoulder, you winced at the sight, remembering the gore of her shoulder, rolling back over the silver spear you wielded.
Undyne seemed to be doing the same thing as she stared at your brassy metal foot.
You both gave each other a shy grin. "Erm... I-I really am sorry about... that." she said almost ashamed. You looked to your foot then back to her "I'm really sorry about... that too. But why aren't you angrier at me?"
"The little frog filled me in."
For a moment you were shocked to think that Froggit would do that, and soon you felt more greatful for the frog monster than anything ever making a little secret smile tug on the corners of your mouth.
She shook her head and hesitantly added "I'm... sorry... for attacking you... But you have to admit that something with that amount of power is scary, and by what it looked like, you had a mixture of power from the two children, Asriel and Chara." she frowned with a puzzled expression "Their souls must've combined together indefinitely for you to have both their traits. You may even be stuck with them for the rest of your life."
You sucked in a quick breath, feeling your heart sink down to your stomach, disappointed and also frightened.
"But..." Alphys chimed in with her index finger up. "I-Its said that, A-Asreil's soul w-w-was torn in t-two, so i-it is said that the prince is s-still out there... and... and uh." she slowed down her words to a hault as her cheeks turned a cute little I when she noticed that everyone's attention was on her. She shrunk back.
"Alphys, do you know of any sort of way I could hush the voice in my mind?" you said, taking a step inside the room. She gave you a disapproving glance "n-no, I'm s-sorry, I don't have a-any idea if one could even m-make it quieter. Y-Y-You'll just ha-have to figure it out y-yourself."
The blue warrior gave you a reassuring smile "Hey, we'll help you out! I'll make sure nothing triggers the voice in your head and if it does I'll put up a good enough fight with you for everyone around to get away until you go back to normal!"
That seemed to make sense to you.
Alpys glared at Undyne for a moment, then to you.
You could tell Alphys didn't trust you at all for injuring her beloved fish, even if the fish was all ready to fight for you. But instead of vocalizing the way she felt about the situation, she hid it in cool stares at you.
You smiled at them both anyway "Well, thank you anyway Alphys. And thank you very much Undyne." you took a step back and turned away only to be stopped again by Undyne's large voice. You looked back over your shoulder to her.
She pointed to you with her good arm "Just don't get into any fights till I'm better!"
You rolled your happy e/c eyes and laughed "Okay, I'll try not to."
"No, I'm serious, you could kill them."
"... okay... I won't."
"Good."
You stepped out of the room to bump into a being who came up to about your mid torso. You looked down to the child who had taken Ike's hat from you to calm you down. "Oh! Uh, hello!" you smiled. The child smiled up at you and waved then walked passed you into Undyne's room.
You looked to Sans "Nice kid, most of the time." He chuckled to himself "But they aren't much of of talker."
You stared at your feet "yeah?"
He frowned with concern evident in his hollow eyes "Hey, uh, are you okay?"
You started to trek away from the room and into the rest of the lab to sort of get a feel for where you kept seeming to wake up in. "Do you think I'm okay?" you found a couch and plopped yourself down on it, resting a hand on your forehead "I was just told I'd live with a murderous demon in my mind to torment me for the rest of my life."
The skeleton sat down beside you, a little gust of wind flew from him to you, it smelled of Grillbys and of course, ketchup."Good point." he agreed.
You both sat there in silence as you pondered how the rest of your life would pan out; You'd get back to the top of the earth, you'd throw a crazy ass explosion of Chara in public, Undyne would they arrested by trying to stop everyone from fighting you even if it means fighting you, Undyne goes to jail, you'd be taken into Government custody. You were at the point of 'testing and dissecting' when Sans spoke up, cutting your list short "Okay, listen. You obviously can't stop thinking about the demon so I'm going to get you outta this place and take your mind offa it."
You perked up in surprise a his sudden outburst "Wait. What?"
"You heard me!" he smiled and with that he grabbed your hand and within a second you both were gone.
