Faint beeping could be heard far away, you stood at the top of a mountain, it was familiar.
Mount Ebott.
You looked to your left only to see Ike.
"Ike!" you said with a wide smile stretching across your face, you went to hug him but he shuffled away with a thick layer of moodiness soaking his aura.
A crooked, confused smile slipped onto your complexion. "Uh... Ike? Are you alright man?"
Beep... Beep...
His shoulders were slumped, his soul felt defeated. He shook gently, clenching his fists tightly. This started to worry you when you saw him wipe his eyes with his sleeve "Ike? What's wrong?" you placed your hand of his shoulder, but a pair of snowy white wings shot out from his shoulder blades through the winter jacket, it made you jump back and an unmistakable hiss seethes through you.
Another smaller pair of white wings pop out underneath the first pair, they spread out widely then fold back to his body.
You frown then shake your head, pulling you back to the present "I-Ike! Are you-"
"An angel. Yeah..." he looks back towards you, you smiled widely at him "That's amazing!" You cheered happily, partly because you were still ecstatic to see Ike and you now knew that there was a place to go after dying. he frowned and looked down, a few more tears dripped down. Your heart ached at the sight "But, why are you crying?"
His eyes were filled with sorrow but a strong glare placed itself in a faraway daze, angrily. "I'm an angel and when you become one you become aware, and I'm aware that you're a demon..." he looked over his shoulder at you bitterly "and a fucking psycho."
You tilted your head to the side and laughed with a sort of insulted look "Uh... I'm sorry?"
Ike growled then spun fully towards you. "You really shouldn't be saying that to me!" His stance was wide and his hands were balled tightly with his wings pointing outwards, intimidatingly "I've seen what you've done! You're a hell raiser!" he paced atop the mountain ferociously "No! Worse than that! You're an evil woven by the hands of the devil himself! You act fun and awesome, but when your true self is let out you don't have any sort of mercy, you just don't know when to quit, you, y-you just keep going! Even if you have no reason to! You're a cruel trick!"
Beep... Beep...
Ike words imprinted your heart with the feeling of pain and betrayal, you kept on your strong act, but you knew any more emotional blows you would be out for the count. "Ike what has gotten into you?!" you almost yelled but you could hear your voice roll down the rocky slope.
Ike chuckled quickly still pacing "Oh that's rich! Maybe you should ask yourself that! You welcomed Chara with open arms and even with all the resets you keep her alive inside of you! Even after all the things you had to go through with that residing inside of you! Even and it's happened so many goddamn times that... Thing is able to live in your head, without you having to give any part of yourself to it!"
You growled at him angrily putting your hands to your head then flinging them both up "Ike! I don't have the faintest idea what you're talking about!" he lulled his head back in irritation and his wings seemed to twitch a little. "Of course you don't, but you will soon. Like all the other times, every time you come down here, it doesn't matter if you are actually good in one of the resets, you just give more of yourself to Chara anyway!"
Tears started to slip out again and he looked at you sadly then hugged you tightly "I don't know why you do this, or how many times we've done this already, but you need to do something different this time, and this seems the time line that has the most chance of freeing the monsters without another reset. Without giving yourself up."
You were surprised and confused "Ike..." you whispered hugging him back tightly "Do you hate me?" your voice was shaky, afraid of his answer.
He sighed "I don't think it would make a difference if I did or didn't, the time line will reset and I'll be alive again and I'll love you again." he buried his face in your shoulder and his wings fell.
Beep... Beep... Beep...
Your heart ached at his words even though you barely knew what was so upset about. You dug your face into the crook of his neck "I miss you so much."
He nodded vigorously into you. "Never give up, y/n, stay determined."
The flame that resided in your gut lit up, blazing like a bonfire. The longer Ike stayed close to you the brighter it burned, but you fought it, warding it off with all your power till you couldn't manage it anymore, so the only thing you could think of was pushing him away.
He looked surprised for a moment, maybe even hurt, but he quickly recovered with a soft smile, not like his constant optimistic smile, but a well rounded grin, filled with many emotions, but most of all wisdom like you had not seen before in him.
"I-I'll stay determined Ike... no matter what... I'll pull through whatever is coming my way." you stood strong, your fists balled up tightly as you kept your eyes on him.
He nodded once, slightly like bowing his head, but only for a moment. His blue eyes seemed to spark with hope "I know."
Beep... Beep.. Beep..
The beeping began to get louder, Ike seemed to notice it too. He craned his head up and looked around, his eyes landed back on you "You'll be leaving soon, ask the skeleton about your previous time lines. But you're gonna have to be prepared for the worst."
What he had said sort of scared you, but you mentally noted it with an "Alright."
His usual wide smile came back into play, the one you loved oh so much with his stunning white grin and joyful blue eyes.
His fluffy blond hair swiveled around in the wind that had begun to pick up its pace. "Just, visit me every once in a while, okay?"
"I will Ike!" you called over the now howling wind. "Thank you." he said kindly as he yelled over the wind, an amused smirk all of a sudden smacked itself on his face "I hope you can forgive me for this!"
You frowned and hugged yourself, hoping to keep your clothes from ripping right off from the strong momentum of the air and squinted "Forgive you for w-"
Ike pushed you over the mountains cliff, you screamed in terror from the feeling of no sort of ground underneath your feet or any sort of foot hold, with no sort of control as you rushed towards the dark hole that awaits to swallow you whole, the rocky cliff slips past you with multiple jagged edges pointing out to you but always missing you by a hair, your feet tingled at the sensation of being dropped from such a high point only to not see the end of the fall.
The wind pushed against your body harshly, spinning you 'round in circles, it became increasingly hard to breath and you felt bruises starting to form and tight things wraped around your body, on your arms, feet, legs and torso.
Your eyes were attempting to stay on the ground but because of your uncomfortable spinning pattern, you couldn't quite see where you were going or when you'd get there.
As you fell so perfectly quickly you heard a voice next to you "Y/n!" you looked to your side only to see Sans falling beside you. You gasped and your eyes snapped open, you shot up only to yelp in pain and lie back down on what ever you were on.
You relaxed, panting from what had just happened, you could've sworn you were at the top of the mountain just a few minutes ago with Ike.
It was totally silent, everything was still, except for a machine that was hooked up to you and Sans standing next to you.
It sort of startled you that he was right there, but you were too exhausted to really do anything about it.
"Oh... Hi Sans." you said quietly, visible relief came over him as he slouched a bit more with a long sigh, as if he were holding his breath for a while.
You peered around at your surroundings to see a rather white and bland environment. Except for a couple strange figurines of a cat girl lining the shelf, and three posters of the same kinda thing. There was another poster that didn't quite match the rest, it had a large square calculator with a wheel keeping itself above ground and two arms poking out the sides, it looked as if it were about to sing.
You looked back to Sans with a questioning look "is this your house?" you asked in almost disbelief, you didn't think Sans would be into this stuff.
Sans looked around the room then back to you "nah, it doesn't look like it."
The little orange thing scuttled in with a clipboard in hand. They looked up and saw you looking over at them, getting a better look at them, you realized that she was a girl, and a dinosaur type thing, not a chicken. "O-Oh... hi. M-My name is Al-Alphys. And a-are you Y/n?"
"That's me." you said in a sort of scratchy voice. Slowly and steadily making your way to sit up, only to be set down again by Sans cold hand on your shoulder. "Doctor A says you can't move until you are fully healed." you frowned at him, he did this to you, why was he all worried about it? Most likely guilt, you decided to question him when Alphys leaves the room.
She nodded while filling a needle with some sort of green and blue liquid "S-Sans is right... Here, th-this may sting a l-little bit." she timidly inserted the needle into your arm.
You hissed in pain, making Sans basically pounce on you, making sure you could not move. Alphys seemed surprised at this but kept with it, her glasses went slightly cock-eyed, only fixing them when she finished with the needle. But you and Sans locked gazes intensely
"Uhm... w-well, that was f-for th-the pain." Alphys' cheek started to turn red at the scene playing out in front of her.
"Physical, or emotional?" you asked, glaring at Sans.
Alphys started to imagine some naughty thoughts and her whole face was now instead of a cute little mango orange was full on red.
"Alphys." for the first time in a while you looked at her "could you maybe give me and Sans a moment?" Alphys nodded and practically ran out the room, you could've sworn you heard her squeal but you couldn't be sure.
You looked back at Sans whose face seem to turn blue at the fact you were in this position alone. The very idea of it made your face flush a bright red.
"Sans..." you said, you expression softened, for some reason it made Sans start to sweat a bit but he kept his glare going, even though it was weakening. "Y-Yeah?"
"Ike told me something when I was out."
Sans expression dropped to slightly irritated "really..."
You nodded, slowly making your way up to a sitting position, making Sans back off of you. "He said something about time lines, and I was a demon, something about Chara... he told me to ask you about it, and to be prepared for the worst."
Sans eyes widened and he looked nervous as hell twiddling his thumbs around each other.
"Um... well... kid uh."
You gently grabbed his hands making him look you in the eyes seriously "Sans, tell me what I need to know"
"You aren't gonna like it."
"Doesn't matter."
He looked down at you hands then back up at you. He sighed heavily, obviously hating the idea of saying anything but he nodded "alright."
