Lost Hope
"Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!"
"What's going on?"
"This can't be happening!" The room explodes with tears and screams.
Everyone is thinking the worst.
"Everyone calm down please we can't lose hope yet," I say trying to calm everyone down. "Calm down. My baby has been kidnapped and that man is doing something terrible to her right now and you want me to calm down!" Maria's mom, Ashley, is practically screaming at this point.
Before I can think twice I notice she is coming at me angrily. She punches me in the face with so much aggression. She punched me so hard that I almost fall but I regained my balance. Her husband pulls her away and she collapses on the floor with heavy and loud sobs.
My wife walks over to comfort her. "It's going to be ok Mrs. Thomson, we will find her," she says reassuringly.
"I know we will find her I just don't know if she will be alive," Mrs. Thomas say sadly as she stands and walks away.
"We can't lose hope just yet we will get her back and she will be alive." I say trying to make her feel better. Ashley freezes and just stands there, "You can't be that sure," she say pathetically as she walks to her bedroom alone.
"We will find her, right dad please tell me we will. I can't loose my best friend," my daughter Sarah says.
"I hope so baby girl. I hate to say it but Mrs. Thomson is right we can't be sure," the room is quite again, but this time the silence isn't broken by my phone ringing, that is the only sound anyone wants to hear.
With every passing hour the fear grows and the last strands of hope shrivel away to nothing.
