Chapter 5 - Outside World
Medusa POV
"Why did you to lie her?" Marrowkai asked me. I ordered that butterfly lizard to be taken to a cell until we know where to keep her.
"Because it seemed logical." I replied. "If we lied about helping her mother, she might trust us. If she does, then she can help the Chaos Empire."
Marrowkai looked at me unsurely. "I know she looks uneducated but she's not dumb. What if she finds out at some point?" He asked.
"So what if she finds out? I doubt she has any fighting skills of some sort." I retorted.
Silkie looked pretty weak. She never showed any aggression or any real sign to fight back.
"And if there's one, there is bound to be more." I added. "Silkie might have the knowledge of where the other Drones are."
"And if she doesn't?" Marrowkai questioned. I glared at him. "Then she's useless and we'll get rid of her." I answered.
"If the other empires find out about her, they might also try to get information out of her. I can't risk that. When Silkie has no use, she will die." I explained.
Silkie POV
I waited in the cell the Juggerknights told me to stay in. Yeah, the armoured men are called Juggerknights.
I paced around a bit until I got bored and just sat down. I got bored for long periods of time so I was used to it.
But I was starving. I asked the Juggerknights if they could give me something to eat. They agreed.
I really wanted to see my mom again. Is she really dead? How should I know if I can believe these guys? What if they're actually just lying?
Then I heard someone shout at me. "You said you were hungry? Here, eat this." A Juggerknight stood outside the cell with Marrowkai beside him.
The Juggerknight threw something to my feet. It was a dead rat. It smelled like rotten fruit.
I sniffed it first before shoving it away. The Juggerknight glared at me. "Medusa wants you alive so you have to eat something." He said.
I look at him. "Drones don't eat dead rats." I replied. "Do you have any fruits or flowers?"
The Juggerknight looked at Marrowkai. "Do we?" He asked. Marrowkai shrugged. "I guess we'll have to find some then." He replied.
They left me yet again in my cell. I sighed. I was used to being left like this. But how come I felt...
...alone?
Like, no one is there for me anymore. My mom said Drones aren't supposed to feel this way because they lived in the hive together.
But I didn't live with them. Im here in a completely different world surrounded by people who are not like me.
Im scared.
Can I even survive the world without my mom? Can I make it to the time when I grow my wings?
If I do, the first thing I'll do is to fly away from here and find the Drone Island. I will go to the place where I really belonged in.
I want to see other Drones. I want to see the Queen of the Drones. I wanted to meet whoever she is in person.
But that would probably be in a week since my birthday is still next week. It would be my first birthday without my mother.
Instead, I would be here, in a world I don't understand with people I don't know.
But I had to be brave. Mom was brave. She said she had to travel all the way from Drone Island to here just to keep me safe.
She said she braved a storm in the sea and multiple attacks from dangerous animals.
But most importantly, she gave up her life of being a fashion star to be able to care for me. Thats a big sacrifice.
I need to be like her. I need to be brave too. I need to be strong. I won't give up. I will never ever lose hope for as long as I live.
But now I felt tired. I started to doubt if Marrowkai would ever come back with fruits and flowers. But I waited a bit longer.
Then, I heard a tap on my cell. It was Marrowkai. My eyes lit up with excitement.
"We couldn't get flowers. They don't grow around here. But we did find this in the Crawler dens." Marrowkai handed me a mango.
I grabbed it in my mouth and shuffled to a corner of the cell. "Whats a Crawler?" I asked.
"They're the black animals that were chasing you." Marrowkai replied. "The ones with a long tail and red eyes."
I nodded. Crawlers. Thats what they're called. I bit into the mango and started eating. I was relieved to be able to eat fruit after a while.
"Oh and when you're done, Medusa might come down here to check on you." Marrowkai told me.
I shrugged. "K." I replied. I finished the mango fast. Thats just how I eat when Im hungry.
Marrowkai left me alone. I sat down in my cell and did something I usually do: daydream.
When I can't draw, I do this. I imagine what the Drone Island was like or how the world the legends lived in looked like.
It helped pass time. And the possibilities were pretty endless so I could daydream for as long as I want and still not lose ideas.
Mom always told me that I had a great imagination. It was true because I always had an idea or question every minute.
Sometimes my mom would answer them when she could. But when she didn't know, she would tell me that we would find out someday.
So I guess I wanted to know more about the legends of the monster-like people and poof! It just happened.
But Im still deciding whether these people are trustworthy. And if they are real, what about the other legends?
What about the humans who value their weapons so much? What about the elemental people and stuff like that? Are they part of this world too?
Just then, I heard footsteps. I look up to see the familiar Queen of Chaos in front of my cell.
"Hello Silkie."
