Chapter 4 - Chaos

Silkie POV

I walked patiently beside Marrowkai. I wasn't scared at all. He was a friend, right?

He basically saved me from a pack of angry animals. My mom says if someone helps you, they're a good person.

Marrowkai did save me? Is he a good person? The armoured men too I guess. Even if they were a bit rough.

"So where are we going?" I asked. Marrowkai ignored me. I asked again. Still nothing.

I then stopped moving and sat down. He noticed and growled. "Get up. We need to get going." Marrowkai told me.

"Going where?" I questioned. Marrowkai sighed. "We're going to a castle. There! Now get up." He demanded. Good enough.

I stood up again and continued following him. While walking, I heard whispering coming from the armoured men.

"How come that other one was savage while this one is so... pathetic?" One of them said. The other one just shrugged.

Other one? What are they talking about? Is there another Drone nearby? Are they talking about something else?

"What are you talking about?" I asked them. They immediately stayed quiet. "Shut up. We weren't talking to you." They said.

I sighed. I continued walking. "Are we there yet?" I asked. Marrowkai glared at me. "Can't you fly like that other one?" He stated.

I shook my head. "I can't fly yet. Im still 9 years old." I replied. Marrowkai just scoffed.

"Well no. But we're close." He said. I nodded. "What are you guys talking about when you say 'the other one'?" I questioned.

Marrowkai only ignored me. I wonder why. But who is the other one they keep talking about?

Finally, I heard Marrowkai say, "We're here." I stop walking and look at where we are.

We were in the front of what seemed like a grey castle. It was huge. I've never seen anything like it before.

"Lets go. The Queen will want to know who you are." My eyes sparkled. "Queen?" I asked.

Marrowkai scoffed. "The Queen of Chaos that is. Trust me, she's not what you think she is." He said.

I suddenly remembered something my mom said. "Leaders are either one of 2 things: bad or good. They can never be both."

My mom told me that when I asked what a ruler was. She had an issue with stuff like politics. I always wondered why.

Marrowkai led me inside. I still wasn't scared. Though, these people did resemble the ones in the legends.

But I was cautious. When we entered the castle, we were surrounded by a lot of people. They all looked like the ones in the legend. Weird.

Marrowkai continued walking. I followed while looking at the different people. I even saw some of the black creatures from the forest.

We reached a throne at the end of the room. I was a bit alerted by a menacing aura. I fought against my curiousity to walk over to the person on the throne.

"Marrowkai, why are you here?" I heard the person voice ask. Martowkai bowed before standing up and introducing me.

"Remember that corpse I brought back? I found another one of those animals." He pointed at me. I blinked in confusion.

"I think they're called Drones. At least, this one says so." I still don't really understand the situation.

The person looked at me. She stood up and walked closer. Then I was able to see how she looked like.

The lady was taller than me. Or maybe I was just small. She had red eyes and snakes for hair. She wore a green robe and gold crown on her head.

Trying to be polite, I smiled. "Hello! My name is Silkie!" I said. The lady just looked at me.

"Silkie? What kind of a name is that?" She asked. "But anyways. Do you have any relation to the other Drone that attacked us?"

I tilt my head. "Other Drone? As far as Im aware, no other Drone lives here." I answered.

"Are you sure? Then what was that other yellow creature with blue eyes and white horns?" The lady asked.

Wait a minute. Is she talking about...

"Are you talking about my mother?" I instantly questioned. The room went quiet. I suddenly went to full alert mode.

"Mother? So you are related to the other one?" Marrowkai asked. I nodded.

"My mother is named Honeybee. She disappeared yesterday so I went out to search for her." I explained.

Then the lady and Marrowkai started whispering to each other. I was a bit worried now.

They faced me again. "Um, Silkie, I think your mother is..." But then the lady covered his mouth.

"Your mother died." She said. I froze. My mom is dead?! No. That can't be. "You're w-wrong!" I stuttered. "My mom would never leave me!"

"We tried to help her, Silkie. But sorry, she couldn't make it." The lady told me. "Wait, that didn't-" Marrowkai tried to say something but the lady glared at him.

I started to cry. "Where is she?!" I demanded. I tried to be brave but I just couldn't.

"We don't have her body." The lady told me. I held back my tears. "Who are you anyway? How do I know I can trust you?" I asked.

The lady pushed Marrowkai away. "My name is Medusa, the Queen of Chaos." The lady answered.

Wait. It all makes sense now. "You're those monsters from the legends." I said as I slowly backed away. "You're the ones my mom talked about."

Medusa smirked. "I don't know what you're talking about but yes, you could say that." She said.

"But don't worry, Silkie. I won't harm you." Medusa told me. I stop backing away. "You will stay here until I know what to do with you."

"Why would I agree with that?" I asked. Medusa just laughed. "You will be cared for and given everything you need." She replied.

"On one condition. You need to answer our questions about your kind." She added.

I thought of the deal. Well, there's nothing bad about it really. As long as no harm on me, I guess Im fine with it.

"Ok. As long as no one hurts me." I said. Medusa nodded. "Don't worry Silkie. You're in good hands."

"And you won't die like your mother."
