Chapter 12 - The Stranger
Silkie POV
I followed the Juggerknight that was leading me to my cell. I looked around the exterior of the Chaos castle.
It had a gloomy and dreadful aura with its grey cloudy skies and monster-like citizens. Not to mention the miners being forced to work.
I felt the Juggerknight tug on my leash, signalling me to get moving as I realized I slowed down to take in the scene.
I expected the Juggerknight to take me to my cell using the same path that Marrowkai used. However, he looked around before leading me away from the castle.
I was confused but I followed him, thinking that we were taking a different path. I looked behind me and tried to struggle in the direction of the Chaos castle.
The Juggerknight ignored me and continued to lead me farther and farther away.
"Aren't we going back to my cell?" I asked. "Shh, or you'll get me caught." The Juggerknight shut me up as we continued walking.
After an hour, I looked behind me and the castle was nowhere in sight. I started getting tired after all the walking.
"Where are we going?" I whined. "You'll see." The Juggerknight said. "We're not far now. He said he'll be somewhere nearby."
I wanted to ask him who was 'he' but then we came to a stop. I sat down and looked around.
We were in a rocky area and I could see the jagged peaks of tall mountains. I looked back at the Juggerknight who was tapping his foot impatiently.
"He said he'll be here to get you and to give my reward." He muttered to himself. I continued looking around until I heard footsteps.
I stood and slowly backed up behind the Juggerknight as a figure appeared in front of us.
The figure looked like a Juggerknight but he looked way taller than any I've ever seen.
His axe was also a lot bigger and his shield was edged with spikes. He wore a helmet that looked like it was made of bones and a black cape.
The newcomer looked at me before looking back at the Juggerknight. "You actually got her." He said.
The Juggerknight rolled his eyes. "Of course I got her. Now where's my prize?" He growled.
"Hand her over first." The newcomer replied. The Juggerknight muttered to himself before handing my leash to the taller male.
I refused to go with the mysterious man so I stayed still behind the Juggerknight and growled.
"Ugh, stupid lizard." The Juggerknight said as he tried to push me towards the newcomer. But I didn't move.
"Its fine. Let her be." The taller male told him. He then walked towards me and reached out his hand to me. I scowled in response.
But I sniffed a familiar scent coming from him. A scent that I rarely encountered except on the times my mother brought it to me.
"Yeah, thats right." The guy told me. "I know you like flowers and I've got some back at base."
I knew better than to trust complete strangers but the Juggerknight looked like he wanted me to go with the man and was getting impatient.
'Does Medusa know about this?' I wondered as I hesitantly walk over to the side of the mysterious man.
"Ok, you have her. Now give me what I came for." The Juggerknight demanded. I looked at the stranger and he rolled his eyes.
"Oh, you'll get what you came for... in fact, something even better." He said with a creepy smile as he held his large axe.
I looked at him in confusion but the Juggerknight looked really happy. "Oh, thats great! Do I get twice the amount you promised me? Or thrice? Or did you get me a load of mana instead?" He asked.
"Even better, you get a quick death." The stranger replied. I thought he was joking but before the Juggerknight had a chance to respond, the stranger's axe was thrown to his chest.
I watched in terror as the Juggerknight fell dead on the ground. The man picked up his axe and wiped some of the blood off.
He then looked at my shocked face. "I can't let anyone expose me." He said. "Besides, he was pretty dumb and annoying anyway."
I glanced at the Juggerknight's dead body. "Are we just going to leave him here?" I questioned.
"Well, we could bring it if you want." The man shrugged. "But Im sure its best if we just leave his corpse to rot."
He then took a hold of my leash and turned around. "C'mon, I'll take you back to my base. Its not far from here." He told me.
I took one last look at the dead body before standing up and following the stranger as he led me to his base.
After a half hour walk, we arrived in what seemed to be the entrance of an underground cave.
It looked a bit dark but I looked closer and saw low flickers of light and something glowing inside.
The man noticed my slightly worried expression and said, "Don't worry, its safe. Just watch your step and be careful not to fall."
He led me through the eerie entrance and for a while, only the faint glow gave us light.
But soon, I heard voices and the light got brighter. When the light was enough to finally let me see, I saw the area more clearly.
"Ever seen a mine before? If not, then here's how one looks like." The stranger told me as I gasp in awe.
The walls were made of jagged rock and it looked like a whole cave system. There were entrances to other different caves along with wooden platforms and hanging lanterns.
There were a couple of Miners and Eclipsors who greeted the man. Some looked at me questioningly so the stranger told them that he'll explain later.
"Silkie, welcome to the abandoned mines, my current base." He said. 'Wait how does he know my name?'
"W-who even are you?" I stuttered.
"My name... is Atcutlet." The man answered.
Ayo, sorry for the late update. I was kinda busy and demotivated but I got through it :)
Also, Atcutlet belongs to louisTPartypooper. Credits to them for letting me use their oc.
