Silkie POV

Sky didn't bother to pay much attention to me. She just scoffed and ignored me. I wondered if she was mad or something.

I was still wondering what her deal was with Massacre. Did something happen between them? What does it mean when they 'broke up'?

I felt Marrowkai tug on my leash. "We're not hear to stay with Sky." He said. "We're going outside where Medusa is."

I looked at Sky first before following Marrowkai outside. I haven't walked outside for a while so I really wanted fresh air.

When I got out, I instinctively jumped out in excitement. Marrowkai accidentally let go so I was skipping and moving around freely.

But then I tripped over something. I landed on my face but I managed to get up. I saw that I tripped over... gold?

I examined the gold carefully. I then heard a groan and I looked around and saw a man who looked depressed.

He had many scars on his body and he carried a pickaxe on one shoulder. He was dragging a kind of bag as he walked.

"Would you get out of the way? Im trying to work here." He mumbled emotionlessly.

"Um, ok." I replied as I scooted away from the gold. He then proceeded with mining. But he would sometimes stop in between. I could tell he was tired.

"Sir, are you sure you don't want to rest first?" I asked. He shook his head. "Im not allowed to do so." He told me.

"But rest is important." I said. The guy ignored me. "Im not supposed to slack off or even talk to you." He murmured.

"Why?" I asked. This time, he didn't answer. I then heard someone calling my name. It was Marrowkai.

I looked at the guy mining. "Are you sure you don't need a break?" I asked again. The guy glanced at me.

"Of course I need one. But does it look like anyone here cares?" He slightly yelled at me.

I look at him in worry before walking away. I walked over to Marrowkai who was shooing away some Crawlers who were sniffing at his heels.

"Lets go." He said as he took my leash and took me to Medusa. He led me to an area with lots of gold across the plain.

Marrowkai walked to Medusa, who was watching people mine the gold scattered across the field.

She heard Marrowkai approach and looked at us. Marrowkai bowed before her. I thought it was funny but I decided to do it too.

"Marrowkai, you can leave us." She told Marrowkai. He nodded and then left us alone. Medusa then turned to me. I sat down and faced her.

"So Silkie... I think we have a lot of proper introductions to continue..."
