Chapter Three: The Shining Beacon, Pt.2
(No One's POV)
As students filled the main hall of Beacon, Ruby and Drew looked around the crowd before a unknown female voice called out to Ruby "Hey Ruby! I saved you a spot!" she called as Ruby gasped while tugging on Drew's arm "Over there! That's my sister!" Ruby exclaimed with excitement as they walked over, Drew eyeing Yang up and down with a small smirk curling upon his lips "Hey Ruby! Oh?" Yang blinked as she looked to Drew "Who's this cutie?" she asked as Ruby pretended to throw up "Ew Yang! This is my friend Drew!" she spoke in disgust from Yang's flirty tone "Drew huh? I'm Yang." Drew hummed as he gently grabbed Yang's hand and kissed her knuckles "Please the pleasure is all mine Yang." he flirts, causing Ruby to clear her throat at the two, catching Yang's attention as she turned back to her sister "So? How's your first day going, little sister?" she questioned "You mean since you ditched me and I exploded!?" Ruby exclaimed as she folded her arms over her chest "Yikes, meltdown already?" Yang asked in a slight worrisome tone "No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school.." Ruby mumbled "And there was some fire.. and I think some ice." Drew gave a small nod in agreement with Ruby's statement.
Yang blinked at Ruby and Drew before she smirked and leaned close "Are... you being sarcastic?" she grinned as Ruby scoffed "I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage! And then she yelled at me! And then I sneezed. And then I exploded! And then she yelled at me again! And I felt really, really bad! And I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!-" Just as Ruby finished her thought, Weiss appeared behind the group before yelling "You!" Ruby jumped into Drew's arms in fear "Oh god, it's happening again!" she whined as Weiss leaned in close to the two "You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" she scolded as Yang looked to Ruby in shock "Oh my god, you really exploded." "It was an accident!" Ruby stated as Drew sets her down in front of Weiss "It was an accident!" she repeated just as Weiss shoved a pamphlet in her face "What's this?" Ruby asked as Drew took the pamphlet from Weiss and read through it "Just some dumb pamphlet for you not to sue the Schnee Dust Company." He informed as Weiss nodded "Uhhh.." Ruby blinked "You really want to start making things up to me?" Weiss asked as Ruby nodded "Absolutely!" Weiss snatched the pamphlet away from Drew and shoved it into Ruby's arms "Read this and don't ever speak to me again." she warned
With the tension building in the air, Yang butted in and spoke "Look, uh.. It sounds like you two got off on the wrong foot! Why don't you just start over and try to be friends, okay?" she asked, using her big sister tone while Ruby turned to Weiss and nodded "Yeah! Great idea, sis!" Ruby agreed before clearing her throat and extending her hand to Weiss "Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out?" she asked "We can go shopping for school supplies!" she added "Yeah, and we can paint our nails, and try on clothes, and talk about cute boys, like tall, blonde, and scraggly over there!" Weiss exclaimed sarcastically while throwing her thumb over her shoulder at some tall blonde male "Oh wow, really?" Ruby gasped in excitement as Drew was surprised by Weiss's words... just before she spoke once more "NO." Drew nodded to himself, pulling Ruby in between him and Yang, as well as away from Weiss as he knew how much of a pain in the... well he knew what she was like overall.
Meanwhile Sapphire was riding down in the elevator with her parents to greet the incoming freshmen of Beacon "Now remember Sapphire, as you are becoming a student this year, this also means you will be treated like one.. during school hours of course." Glynda stated just as Ozpin spoke up "And whenever you wish to come up and visit you still have the key." he grinned as Sapphire nodded to both her parents "Yes mother, yes father." she smiled, as the elevator doors opened and the three walked out, Ozpin gently held back Sapphire to an area the students couldn't see them, he pulled down her hood and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead "Don't hide yourself my gem, be proud of yourself.." he smiled down at Sapphire as she wiggled her ears and nodded, smiling up at Ozpin before Glynda cleared her throat "Come on you two." she smiled. Ozpin, Glynda and Sapphire all walked on stage, their faces turning emotionless as the students began to quiet down while soft mumbles were heard from the crowd about the headmaster, rumors and especially about Sapphire.
"Ahem.." Ozpin cleared his throat before speaking "I'll keep this brief. You have traveled here today in the search of knowledge. To hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you and all I see is wasted energy-" just as he spoke, Sapphire's ears flinched to flattening on her head just before rising again, knowing she must keep her composure "-in need of purpose, direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step. " And with that, Ozpin walks off stage, escorting his daughter off as well as Glynda stepped up to the mic "You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed!" she states before walking off stage as well. Yang turned to the group and placed her hands on her hips "He seemed kind of off." she states "It's almost like he wasn't even there." Ruby added as Drew spoke up "And who was that girl up there? She seemed way to young to be a professor." he pointed out as Weiss scoffed and crossed her arms "Of course you wouldn't know about her. That is Sapphire Ozpin-Goodwitch, the daughter of Ozpin and Glynda Goodwitch." she informed "She rarely speaks and doesn't go out much. And yet, she seems to be the heir to this school." Ruby blinked as she tilted her head "How do you know so much about her?" she questioned "I have relations." she stated while crossing her arms, just as the tall blonde male stepped in "I'm a natural blond, you know!" he informed.
(Timeskip)
Night has fallen upon Beacon as the Ballroom was filled with students and sleeping bags, dimmed lights casted shadows upon shadows in the area while Ruby was writing in a notebook, Yang flopped down beside her "It's like a big slumber party!" she exclaimed "I don't think dad would approve of all the boys, though." Ruby responded, causing Yang to smirk as she looked up and noticed Drew coming out the showers, wearing a black tank top and grey sweatpants while his wet hair hung over his face "I know I do~" Yang spoke while rolling her tongue before looking back to her sister. While Yang and Ruby talked back and forth, Drew looked around the area to find a sleeping spot, noticing there wasn't many spots left before he spotted a familiar face.
"DO you have your pills? Weapon? Toothbrush?" Glynda asked Sapphire as they waited for the elevator to reach the bottom floor "Yes mother, I have everything packed and ready for my first night!" Sapphire grinned, before Glynda gently cupped her cheek and nodded "Be safe my little wolf. Your father and I will be upstairs if you need us." she smiled while Sapphire nodded "I'll keep that in mind." the elevator doors dinged as they reached the bottom floor, and before the doors opened Glynda gave her daughter a small peck on her forehead "I'll see you tomorrow." she smiled while waving goodbye to her daughter. The doors closed behind Sapphire as she headed into the view of the ballroom floor and looked around, her ears twitching in every direction before she walked over to the staircase and set up her sleeping bag. Just as she was about to slip in, Drew walked over and ran his fingers through his hair ""Hey, you're Ozpin's girl right?" he asked as Sapphire's ears flattened on her head while her hand slid behind her back and gripped onto her discreet weapon "Why do you ask?" she questioned. Drew chuckled "It must be tough being a headmaster's daughter, at least you aren't as uptight as the Schnees." he laughed before extending his metal hand to her "The name's Drew." he grinned, Sapphire slowly relaxed, her ears gong up before she gently placed her small hand in his large one and shook it "Nice to meet you Drew." she hummed. Drew noticed an empty spot beside Sapphire "May I?" he asked, holding his sleeping bag and pointing to the empty spot. Sapphire nodded and sat down on her sleeping bag "Please do." she nodded before sliding into her sleeping bag and grabbed her earbuds, planting them into her ears and stretched "Well.. Goodnight." she mumbled, closing her eyes and curling up in her bag, as Drew smiled and blew out a nearby candle stand, removing his shirt and laying back in his sleeping bag before falling asleep... wondering what tomorrow would bring.
