CHAPTER FORTY-TWO: CUPID SHOT AN ARROW !

━━━━━━
THIS ONE WAS AN URGENT ONE AND A BIG ONE ALL AT ONCE. As soon as they were told they needed to be there, Casey immediately called the team in. When they walked in, Casey had the screen set up, standing beside Emily and Garcia, who helped her set it all up.
"Anyone know who these people are?" Casey started as she showed four mugshots. Two men and two women. "Uh, yeah, I think so. The Devil's Rejects, right? These guys were all over the news ten years back." Luke told.
Garcia nods as she follows with — "Yeah, Greenville, Alabama — Tucker, Otis, Harley and Evelyn Woodstone. 34, 32, 30 and 25 years old. Siblings who... let's just say... have a knack for killing."
Emily nods as she adds, "Rumor has it they have a kill count that's over 100."
"They're currently on the run in Alabama after escaping prison." Casey tells. "More like Tucker escaped with the help of Otis and they broke Harley out right along with them." Rossi read on the file in front of him.
"And they got away with this in the span of two days?" JJ questions. "A lot of guards were shot and killed. They didn't even know until someone was switching in for their shift just last night." Emily stated.
Erik picks up photos laid on the table of the shot guards. "You would think someone would know. A crime scene this gruesome? And the fact that they've been spending most of their time killing other people just to escape."
Tara sighs as she shakes her head, "Serial killer siblings. Going as far to kill with your siblings. I'm just saying... you do not see that often."
Spencer then interjects with, "Actually, it happens more often than not. Given the household and childhood dynamics involved in creating violent criminals, it shouldn't be surprising that one home can give birth to multiple killers. It's far less common than the lone killer, or strangers who connect over their murderous desires. But sometimes the bonds of siblings are unbreakable, resulting in shocking crimes throughout history. The most famous sibling serial killers were the Menendez Brothers back in the early '90s."
Matt draws his attention to the box of files on the table in front of him as he speaks, "I can honestly say, given the file stack, I'm assuming we're dealing with people that are worse than what we've dealt with before."
"How far do their crimes date back?" Rossi wonders and Garcia raises her brows, "Truth?" She looks around. "As far as the early '90s." They've been killing for nearly two decades. And that couldn't have been the end for them there.
Casey looks around at her team as she speaks, "I think I speak for everyone when I say... wheels up in 10."
The team had gone up on the jet to get to Alabama and before they landed, they decided to debrief. "So, how did their crimes start circulating?" Erik begins as he grabs a coffee and takes a spot next to Spencer on the jet.
Garcia is on the monitor, awaiting to tell them all of the info she gathered on the Woodstone family. "Their father, Harold Woodstone, also known 'Spunky the Clown' owned a circus shop down in Nashville on a roadside in the middle of nowhere."
"Now little ways down, about an hour out from the shop, laid a mansion the Woodstones resided in with their mother, Barbara." Casey adds.
Rossi reads what's on the file in front of him as he comments, "The family was eccentric to say the least." He pauses as he reads out loud, "They'd use that circus shop to lure their victims into their homes with Harley and Evie disguised as hitchhikers."
"Their most famous killing were three cheerleaders who's gone missing back in the '90s. Their bodies were eventually found months later." Luke picks up a photo that laid on the table in front of Matt and Casey. "They were decomposed." He points out.
Garcia shakes her head sadly, "Evidence of sexual assault, bruising, cuts. Everything sick you can name, they did it."
"Any news on the mother and father?" Emily wonders.
"Barbara Woodstone died just about a few years back. Lung cancer. And Harold died by lethal injection when they were all caught about ten years ago." Matt informed.
"And none of their children received the death penalty?" JJ asked. "No, by the looks of it, everyone just wanted them to suffer in prison. They've grown quite the fan base over the years." Garcia informed.
"It's natural for famous serial killers to develop fangirls. It shouldn't be normalized but unfortunately it is." Tara tells. "It's essentially normalized with famous killers like Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez and Charles Manson." Spencer informed.
"The Woodstones have been imprisoned for years. Now, they're on the run. Planning God knows what." Rossi tells.
Casey then speaks again, "When we land, I want all of us down at the PD. I also want us to be extra careful with this. The Woodstones are gonna act carefree like they have nothing to lose. That means shooting us down if need be."
And all Casey could do was hope that they could catch these psychos and get on with her life but these unsubs were nobody to mess with. And she knew that.
━━━━━━
The team discovered that their unsubs had murdered a group of people in a motel room, brutally. Two bodies were found in the bathtub, a woman and a man. The male's genitals were cut off and the woman was sexually assaulted. A man's body was found sprawled on the bed, he was bound and scalped. And the last woman that was in there actually wasn't murdered in the hotel room. She was released and when she was trying to get help, she was run over by a truck.
That night, the team stayed behind to try and figure out these unsubs one by one. Trying to figure out and nitpick what made them different and why their kills were sloppy and that they seemed to always leave behind a trail.
It was then that Casey wanted to know whatever they did know with the head detective on the case. "So, we've uncovered a few things," Emily started. "Tucker Woodstone is only a half sibling on his father's side, maybe Otis called him to help him out of the situation he was in. His specialty is hunting."
"Otis, family guy," Matt holds up a photo of the man. "He'll do anything for the people he loves. He and Harley have the same kill count. We ran the autopsy records as well, only his fingerprints were found on all of the cheerleaders' bodies. Specialty? Guns and assault."
Erik sighs as he continues the line, "Now, Harley. She's the... psychotic one to put it lightly. She gets creative with her killings. She kills most of her victims with a bow and arrow."
The detective raises a brow. "A bow and arrow?" Erik shrugged, "Like I said, creative."
Now I have officially seen it all, Casey thinks to herself.
"And Evie... well, she's the youngest. She seems the most timid out of all of them. Her specialty is her brain." JJ told. "While she in the slammer doing time, she was hitting the books. The prison's counselor even stated in her chart that Evie has an IQ of 160." Luke adds.
"She was gifted and there was no way she was gonna get by on a good life with siblings like these." Spencer stated.
"Now, that we have found out what we can about these siblings as individuals, we need to work on this geo-profile. There's not much to work on until they strike again, unfortunately." Casey tells.
━━━━━━
The very next morning, no one had gotten sleep. Everyone stayed behind, trying to figure out where they all could've gone, tracking the streets down the entire night for a beat up pickup truck they know would've belonged to Tucker.
Casey stood in front of the boards most of the time. She walked away once to go and get a cup of coffee before coming back to that spot to figure out where they were heading.
She paced back and forth as she faced the map and as she turned back forward, she was met with suit-cladded chest with a funny tie. "Ooh!" Casey almost fell backwards had it not been for the man in front of her grabbing her by her shoulders to prevent it from happening. "Ooh. Sorry."
Casey looks up and she's met with Spencer's face, his chocolate brown eyes mesmerized with hers. "Sorry." Spencer stated as he lets go of her shoulders. "You okay?" He places his hands in his pockets. "Uh, yeah. Yeah, I'm okay." Casey nodded.
As they both separate, the detective on the case walks in and it looks like he's walking with news. "There's been another killing. This time at a hotel room."
"I'll have JJ and Erik check it out." Casey nods as she goes to call them.
It seemed like they were striking in motels and escaping soon after. This time they changed plans and struck at a hotel room. Maybe it was to throw everyone off but the team knew it was them. Their plans changed but their patterns didn't.
This time in the hotel, a man and a woman. Woman was violently sexually assaulted and the man was shot in the head, execution style. His guts were all over the bed, looking like mangled spaghetti. Yes, this was definitely their work.
The team had concluded that they needed to gather more officers at every motel and hotel in the area. They even took measures to split up to stay nearby their areas in case they struck in those areas.
Emily and Rossi split up, JJ and Erik split up, Tara, Matt and Luke split up in a trio, which left Spencer and Casey splitting up as well.
"They were last spotted down the road on Floodson Street!" Emily speaks to them on Casey's cell. "We'll be there soon." Casey tells as she hangs up on Emily.
"Wait." Spencer spoke. "What?" Casey asks. "Look." He points in front of them up ahead in the traffic they're in. "Is that smoke?" Immediately, Casey and Spencer get out of the car and rush over to the area. A hotel on Matheson Street — a police car was on fire. There was a riot. All hell just broke loose.
"What's going on?" Casey questions as she approaches a bystander. "They're—They're in there!" Both Casey and Spencer take their guns out as they enter the empty hotel.
They hear gunshots upstairs and Casey and Spencer decide to split up and that's when Casey goes up the stairs to and the third floor. As soon as she turns a corner, she spots a woman, blonde hair, covered in blood, standing over a woman she'd just killed. Her bow and arrows in his hands. Harley.
"FBI! Drop your weapon and put your hands in the air!" Casey shouts. The woman straightens herself as she sinisterly turns around. She locks eyes with Casey. "I'm not gonna ask you again. Put the weapons down and your hands in the air."
The woman is down the hall but she slowly begins to walk towards Casey as she hums to herself, keeping her eyes on Casey.
Harley begins to sing something to herself and Casey hears in. "Five little hearts, all in a row. The first one said, 'I love you so!'" Casey keeps her gun steady. "Put your weapon down now!"
"The second one said, "Will you be my Valentine?" The third one said, "I will, if you'll be mine!'" Casey watches as she holds her bow and arrow steady towards Casey. "The fourth one said, "I'll always be your friend!" The fifth one said, 'I'll all be friends until the very end!'"
Suddenly, Harley fires the arrow and Casey feels someone fly towards her and she quickly realizes that it's Spencer and that he ran right in front of her and he falls backwards and yells in pain and Casey sees that the arrow lodged right into his leg.
Harley giggles since she seemed to hit a target and Casey doesn't know what to do. "Spencer!" She quickly stands and sees that Harley is getting another arrow ready. "Spence! Come on!" She quickly pushes the elevator button so they can get the hell out of there.
The elevator opens as she drags Spencer towards the elevator and he scoots back into it to help Casey a bit. Casey was too busy helping Spencer because the next thing she knew, Harley shot another arrow and this time, it lodged right into Casey's arm.
"Ah!" Casey yelled in pain as she quickly pushed the button for the elevator doors to close before Harley could attempt to kill them again.
Both Casey and Spencer sat back, arrows lodged into part of their bodies as they panted in the hurries of it all. "Casey, are you okay?" Spencer asked and Casey is in shock.
"Spence?"
"Yeah?"
"Is there an arrow lodged in my arm?"
"Yes, there is."
"Great."
Spencer looks around. "Good thinking with the elevator." He tells. "It was the only way I could think that we could—" Suddenly, they hear a crash and the elevator stops abruptly.
"Uh oh." Casey mutters as she exchanged a look with Spencer. Spencer hits his head behind on the wall as he groans, "Oh, God. Not today."
Casey gets on her knees as she goes towards the doors of the elevator and beats on it, "Hello? Hello!" Spencer sighs, "They cut the line. So no one would find us. We don't have any communication with anyone. We're stuck."
Casey shakes her head, "No, we can't be stuck. The team, they're gonna find us. They will."
"How?" Spencer shakes his head. "We changed plans sporadically. Plus, JJ and Erik already checked this place out. We're screwed."
Casey shakes her head as she hits the elevator doors hard, this time. "Crap." And this was true, they were indeed stuck in an elevator, arrows lodged in their bodies, in need of help and with no way out.
━━━━━━
After several attempts to call the team on each of their cells before they died, they realized they had no service so they couldn't call anyone at all. They tried their mics on their vests but there was nothing working on those either. And the elevator didn't have any cameras in it and no way of contacting anyone through it.
Spencer and Casey also realized they couldn't really do much with their arrows stuck in their bodies. Spencer told Casey to take his out quick and east and she did just that even with him screaming in so much pain. But Casey's wasn't any better with the arrow being in her arm. The pulls were quick and it was definitely more convenient to move now.
They'd eventually taken their FBI vests off and Spencer had decided that he was going to tear a part of his dress shirt off to stop the bleeding in Casey's arm and his leg. He was wearing a white t-shirt underneath the dress shirt. Casey had her own dress shirt that was seeped with blood in the arm area. She'd carefully taken the shirt off, leaving her in the grey tank-top she was wearing underneath.
Casey had also taken her hair out of her ponytail and ran a hand through her hair as she held her arm out. "Does your leg hurt?" Casey questions Spencer and the man shrugs. He's endured so much pain over the past few years, it seemed like he just became immune to it at this point. "It's good considering the obvious."
"Hope it's not too bad." Casey comments and as she says this, Spencer uses his strength and tears a part of the shirt off in three pieces. Casey raises her brows, amused as he uses his strength to tear the shirt. "Oh." She finds herself saying with a tone.
Spencer turns to Casey and raises his brows. "Impressed?" He wonders and Casey nods, "Very."
Spencer chuckles to himself as he goes to wrap the torn shirt around Casey's arm. "This should stop the bleeding."
As his fingertips caress her skin, Casey finds herself staring at his face as he gently wraps the torn fabric around her arm. She stares at how focused he is at making sure she's okay before he is. She wondered why she didn't see it before when they broke up. How caring he is. She was way too damn stubborn and it was definitely something she was working on now.
Spencer catches Casey staring at him but Casey doesn't care, she keeps doing so. Spencer engages long eye contact with her and that's enough for Casey to get all shy and sit up, grabbing the torn fabric laid in between them and she asks him to lift his leg up only a bit so she can get the fabric under his leg.
Casey begins to wrap his leg up. She's just glad that the arrows didn't cause too much damage to either of them. Of course, they still injured them and Spencer definitely needed a doctor but the makeshift bandages should last them a few hours at least.
"We have to figure out some way to get out of here," Spencer tells. "Before it gets any worse." He notes to their injuries. Casey stands as she looks around the ceiling, trying to find a way out. "Yeah, well, we've been through a lot more than this." She comments as she tries to lift herself up to hit the ceiling of the elevator.
"Have we?" Spencer asks and Casey turns to him with an amused smile on her face. "Are you kidding? Ever since we met, it's been one ordeal after the other." Casey told.
Spencer furrows a brow and he speaks in a sarcastic tone. "Wow, you make it sound so romantic."
Casey turns back to face him and stops what she's doing. "It's not what I meant. I mean, look at everything we've been through, everything we've overcome. This is just one more thing. This isn't where it ends."
Spencer thinks on this and then nods at Casey, "Alright, so how do we get out of here?"
The woman shakes her head, "I don't know. I gotta figure that maybe there's a vent somewhere. Do you think the team will find us?" She wonders.
"It's going to take them a minute but they'll figure it out when we don't show up. Question is, why if they don't?" Casey really didn't want to think about that right now. She just wanted to focus on getting out of here and pronto. She was just glad she wasn't claustrophobic.
━━━━━━
Casey wasn't getting anywhere with trying to reach the team. She figured it had least been a few hours now. It had to have been nighttime by now. Still, Casey used whatever strength she had left as she trying to find way out of the elevator. She even tried prying the doors open but they were practically made out of steel.
And she worried for Spencer because his injury seemed worst than hers. She blamed herself because she took that arrow for her. And now, she felt like she practically owed him her own life. So, she kept trying everything to get them both out of there.
"If there is a way out, it's gotta be nearby." Casey told and Spencer begins to try and stand with all of his might and successfully does so without Casey's help. "What are you doing?" Casey questions.
"I'm trying to save you." Spencer tries to pry the door open himself with his own strength but it was no use. "You mean, you're trying to save us, don't you?" Spencer stops trying as Casey questions him. "Look, you need to sit down. I'll figure it out and get us out of here." She ushers him to sit back down as she sits with him.
"The team, they're gonna end up finding a way." Spencer assures to the woman next to him. "How?" Casey questions. "We have no way of telling them where we are."
"They'll figure it out. I know them. We know them." Spencer stated. "In time?" Casey questions, motions to his injury.
Spencer then looks at Casey. "Look, Casey, no matter what happens..." The woman doesn't want to hear it, she immediately shakes her head and says: "No."
"You have to keep trying to make contact and keep going." Spencer tells.
"I don't wanna hear it." Casey squeezes her eyes shut. She didn't want to hear about this negative talk Spencer was displaying. How could he think she could go on without him? They've been apart long enough. And Casey didn't want to see a world without Spencer Reid. Without her Spencer Reid.
"Casey— "
"Would you please stop trying to save me? You and I are gonna get out of this together, stop talking to me like that." Casey snapped, looking straight into Spencer's glistening eyes. Casey broke the eye contact with him and looked down at the floor, tears protruding into the corners of her eyes.
Spencer's hand made its' way to Casey's face and her cupped her soft skin. Casey closed her eyes, taking in his touch. "I'm sorry." He whispered to her as his thumb caresses her skin.
Casey looks at him, staring straight into his eyes as she softly chuckled in thought. "Yeah, just one ordeal after another, right?"
Once Casey looked back at him, she had seen something in his eyes that she couldn't quite place. Something emotional. "I never stopped loving you." He revealed and Casey nuzzled against the palm of his hand as she let out a simple and raspy — "I know."
The two stared into each other's eyes until Casey noticed Spencer's eyes avert from Casey's eyes to her lips. She hadn't even realized she was doing the same thing.
Before they could say anything else, or forget by looking away from each other, Casey pulled Spencer by the collar of his shirt and smashed her lips against his. He had been a little shocked by her approach but he quickly gave in, cupping her face with both hands now.
Casey's hands found Spencer's hair, tugging slightly as she pushed harder into the kiss. Spencer didn't seem to mind this as he laid a hand on her waist. The hem of her shirt lifted to expose a bit of her hip bone.
Fireworks spurred in their head, as they once did. It was like the very first night. They had craved one another and the feeling of wandering hands was enough to prove it. Touching one another brought back the nights they made love, the first night they did. Their touches felt like electricity, sparks flying everywhere in their frazzled brains.
They pulled away from one another, finally catching their breaths. Spencer faced the woman he loved. "Are you— are you sure you want this?" He questioned. Casey looked him in the eyes as they leaned against each other's foreheads. Spencer began to play with her hair. "I want you." She whispered.
Casey almost regretted saying it, only because it took him a while to respond to her, with his words and his body. But Spencer hadn't been thinking about what she was saying, he was more focused on the reality of all of this.
Her and him, here, it did not feel real. It felt like those sick dreams he always seemed to have when they had first broken up. He was stuck between reality and fantasy that he didn't fully understand that this was his reality. And that he was with her, here. It took him a second to snap right back into it.
"I want you, too." He finally replied, his voice raspy. He pulled her in for another kiss, more passionate than the one before.
Their hands wandered and explored each other's bodies, remembering the familiar feelings and touches the other liked. Casey's hands had gone towards Spencer's shirt and she began to relentlessly pull it over his head to feel more of him. Spencer's fingers trailed towards the hem of Casey's shirt, wanting to feel more than the fabric itself.
Casey had quickly pulled her pants off, leaving her underwear on and with Spencer's help, Casey placed her leg over his thigh, her body straddling his and she felt his hard bulge poking through to her clothed entrance.
Spencer had finally taken Casey's shirt off and the girl pulled it over her head, going in for another kiss shortly after. She tugged at his hair again, a soft moan escaping from his lips as she pulled away.
Spencer had began to kiss her neck, nipping at her supple skin until he saw it. He saw the look on Casey's face and she looked down. It was mixed with uncomfortableness and uncertainty. He cupped her face again and looked at her and stopped what he was doing. "What's wrong?" He asked, almost immediately.
"It's... it's nothing you did." Casey told and he noticed as she looked down at his lap, which caused him to look down at his bandaged leg. He almost forgotten that he had been injured due to the activity. "I just... I don't wanna hurt you." She admitted.
Spencer smirks a bit, pulling a loose strand of hair behind Casey's ear. "I'd rather you hurt me from this than anyone else." He says into her ear.
Casey chuckled and gave him a reassuring look. "Are you sure?" She asks. "Positive." He answered immediately, his fingers trailing over and under Casey's underwear. "And you?" He wonders.
Casey looked at the man. "I've wanted this... for a really long time." She breathed, caressing his jaw, the stubble nearly scratching her finger as she trailed. "I'm more sure than anything."
With a swift nod, Spencer had moved Casey's underwear to the side and had stuck his fingers inside her folds, gathering the warm substance around. Casey moaned involuntarily at the touch and Spencer looked at her as she writhed above him. "Oh, God, you're so wet." He liked the way Casey bit down on her lip, trying to succumb any moans from coming out but she failed at doing so. The way she leaned back and let him do whatever he wanted. Take whatever he wanted. The way she stared straight into his eyes as his fingers worked wonders.
"You like that, huh? You're all wet just for me?" He asked and Casey nods, "Yes... yes, all for you." Casey hated the way she must've looked desperate for him. And she never pulled this submissive part of herself often. But it had been a long time since she felt his touch.
There were long nights she wished for his touch. All those dreams she had about sleeping with him once more coming true. He knew where and how to touch her when no one else had. She missed his face, his body, his fingers. She missed him. And now here she was, her body on display for him, almost as if she was saying 'welcome home' to him.
Spencer was always more of a giver than a receiver. He loved making Casey feel good in any position she'd put him in. He loved when she would take over. And even if there were times she would try and make him feel good, she was always his first priority. He would make her feel good no matter what. He would take care of her, no matter what.
Spencer's thumb moved back and forth onto her clit, causing Casey to moan Spencer's name as if they were chants. "Spencer... oh, my God, Spencer..." She grabbed onto his bicep. "I'm here, love. I'm here." He said, finally helping Casey wash through her orgasm.
He had let her take a breather before continuing, because truth be told, he needed one too. Spencer noticed how Casey's face flushed and how hard she was breathing. He cupped her face again and looked at her in her eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asked. Casey nodded but that wasn't enough. "I want to hear you say it. Use your words." He told. Casey nods again but she responds with: "Yes, I'm okay."
Her breathing finally slowed and Casey looked down at Spencer's aching dick in his pants. As she began to help Spencer with unbuckling his pants, Casey looked at him with reassuring eyes. The crystal blue ones Spencer always admired from afar. "And you're sure about this?" She asks and Spencer nods.
Casey leans towards his ear as she began to kiss at his neck. "I wanna hear you say it, Spence." She whispers, her breathing making Spencer's shudder as she teased. "Use your words."
"Yes, I'm sure. I'm more sure about anything in my entire life." Spencer stated.
As soon his dick came out his pants, it sprung up, waiting to be touched. Casey had taken his dick into her hands, stroking it a bit, merely to see the reaction of Spencer's face. She missed seeing his reactions to her touch.
His lips parted a bit as he leaned his head back towards the wall, closing his eyes at the feeling he missed and was grateful it wasn't his own hand, this time. All of those times he imagined it was Casey's hand touching him, all of those nights he spent wishing Casey was there, watching him. All of the times he would say her name when his orgasm rushed through him, they all finally paid off because here he was.
Casey lifted herself a bit as she guided his dick to her entrance and slowly sank down onto it as Spencer helped move her underwear out of the way. She gasped a little at the feeling, Spencer put a hand to her jaw and assuring she was doing good. "Slowly... just like that." He softly moaned with her as soon as she hand fully sat down onto it.
Spencer had stroked her face, placing a thumb towards her bottom lip, tracing and she smiled down at him and he smiled to her. Here they were, as one again. It took them a moment to mask this in.
"Whenever you're ready, just start moving, okay?" Spencer told and Casey wasted no time adjusting herself as she slid up and down onto his dick each time.
Spencer moaned as he watched Casey bounce up and down on him and balancing herself by holding onto his shoulders. Spencer leaned forward, pulling her close as his hands traveled to the small of her back. "Oh, my god. You feel so good. So... perfect." He managed to choke out as she kept going. He began kissing at her jaw, her hair nearly tickling his face but he didn't care.
Casey held onto Spencer's body and began to scratch at his back, Spencer smiling at the familiar feeling. "Fuck..." She mumbled out, followed by a moan.
"God, I love hearing the sounds you make." Spencer told, holding her in place as his hips bounced into her, wanting more. "You feel so... umph— right. So so... so good." Spencer whimpered out the last part and that was enough to send Casey over the edge as Spencer pumped into her deeper.
"Oh, my God! Spencer! Don't stop, don't stop!" Casey moaned, practically shaking the elevator they were stuck in. "Cum for me, baby. Cum for me." He muttered into her neck and finally, Casey felt a warmness coat her walls as her eyes finally snapped open and so did his.
They stayed close to each other's bodies for a moment, holding each other like their lives depended on it. They finally pulled away, but only to look at each other.
Casey had moved Spencer's hair away from his face to get a better look at him. He stared up at her, with his angelic eyes and she smiled down at him and Spencer swore he had gone to heaven and seen a goddess. "Hey..." She whispered to him. "Hi." Spencer said back.
Finally, the two separated, Casey wincing as he pulled out her sensitive spot. Her eyes immediately went over to Spencer's bandaged leg and she touched it, almost forgetting that he was hurt in the first place. "I'm—" Spencer immediately interrupted her. "It doesn't hurt." He assures. "I promise. If anything, this made me forget about the pain." He joked and Casey chuckles as she reaches over for her pants that were thrown haphazardly a few feet away.
As they put their clothing back on, Casey turns over to him on the ground and he looks at her as he puts his shirt back on and Casey smiles at him and he smiles right back at her. And even through this troubling situation they were in, Casey just knew that by that simple look... that everything was gonna be okay.
━━━━━━
Casey ended up falling asleep in Spencer's arms. And God did she miss that. All she wanted to do is kick herself in the head for not realizing he was the one sooner. She woke up the next morning on the ground and she turned over to see that Spencer was standing up, trying to push in certain areas of the ceilings that seemed loose.
"Hey." Casey greeted and Spencer turns over to the woman with a small smile on his face. "Hi."
Casey sits up. "What are you doing?" Spencer looks back up at the ceiling. "Just trying to find a way through with it being safe." Casey furrows her brows, "Any luck?"
Spencer shakes his head, "Nope." He stops what he's doing as he stares at Casey. "Listen, uh, about last night..." His cheeks redden at the mention of the night prior. "I don't have any regrets if that's where this is going." Casey quickly interjected.
"It's not, but I'm glad you said that because I don't either." Spencer told with a small smile on his face. "I just want you to know that I don't have any expectations if we get back together." Spencer decides to sit next to Casey as he speaks. "Because I know everything that you went through when I was in prison and the way I lashed out at you. I didn't get it. And it just, it wouldn't be fair to put you through that again. To put us through that pain again."
"What do you mean?" Casey asks, tilting her head. Spencer sighs, "You saw what that did to us. With me leaving, you miscarrying... Cat. It destroyed us and we let it."
Casey sighs and she realizes why Spencer wants to take things slow. He was just as hesitant as her. And now that she was ready, Spencer was really seeing the importance of waiting. "You just tried to do something good for your mom. That's all you wanted to do." Casey told.
"That's not the only reason," Spencer revealed. "The only thing that ever got me through prison was you, Casey. I was holding onto you. And I let myself get in the way of that and because of that, I put you at risk and I put our son son at risk. I can't let that happen anymore, I won't let that happen. So, if that's what you're really afraid of... if we... officially do this again... I never wanna let you go. Not this time. And not ever again."
Casey thinks for a moment. "I think that's what I needed to hear you say," she tells. "We never talked about what happened. And why it happened. I pushed you..."
"No, you didn't," Spencer assures. "I got in my own head there. And I was afraid you wanted to break up and that was true."
Casey takes a long breath as she grabs his hands with hers. "Spencer, I've always been afraid of that kind of future. With getting married and having a kid, it happened too fast for us and admittedly, I was always scared of that. And I figured that... if I had you, every step of the way, I'd be fine." She looks down. "But then I didn't have you. And I got scared. So when I tried to pull you closer, I was trying to hide the fact that I wanted to push you away. And I didn't know why I wanted to push you away, but I did. And I'm so sorry that I put you through that."
"After what I put you through, with everything. It's understandable why." Spencer stated.
There's a long pause and Casey furrows her brows in thought. "Why do we always do that?"
"Do what?"
"Have sex and then admit our feelings to one another?"
Both Spencer and Casey break out in chuckles. "We're gonna get out of here," Spencer tells as soon as they both stop laughing. "The team, they'll find us."
"Spencer? Casey!" They hear, causing both of them to look up from where the voice is coming from. Casey and Spencer look at one another as Spencer goes, "Told you."
The two both stand up. "Luke?" Casey calls.
"Yeah!"
"Luke! Help us out of here!"
"Yeah, we gotta figure out a way to do that first. I got Matt and Erik with me." Luke informs. "We'll get you guys out of there. Just sit tight!" Matt tells. "That's what we've been doing for a few hours now." Spencer told.
"How did you find us?" Casey questioned. "We had Garcia track your cells. It was actually one of the last things we thought of." Erik admits. "Yeah, not great thinking on our part."
"Hold on, we're gonna unscrew this top off and we're gonna reach in and pull you guys out." Luke informs.
After about thirty minutes of them trying to get this top off the elevator off, they finally succeed and Casey and Spencer are faced with the three. "Good to see your faces again." Luke tells.
Matt looks above them and then notes, "You guys are hanging on by a line. The line's eventually gonna break off. You guys are gonna need to move as swiftly as you can."
"Have Casey go first." Spencer offers. Casey looks at him and shakes her head. "What? No, you go first."
"Casey—"
"Spencer, your injuries are more severe than mine. Plus, I'm smaller than you and that means something with less weight on here." Casey argues.
"No, you're going first," Before Casey can argue with that statement, Spencer turns to the three men and tells them, "Casey's going first."
Casey knows there's no point in arguing as both Matt and Luke pull Casey up to the surface and Spencer tries to help as much as he can. Successfully, they get Casey out of the elevator.
"Reid, come on, man." Luke ushers quickly to get him out. Suddenly, the line then snaps causing Matt and Luke to grab Spencer rather quickly as the elevator goes crashing down. "Spencer!" Casey screams. Matt and Luke have a steady hold on him they hoist him over the large drop and Casey goes rushing toward them and she grabs Spencer under his armpits, trying to help Matt and Luke with hoisting him up.
Erik grabs Casey as he helps with getting Spencer on the surface. When Spencer's on steady ground, Casey clashes against him in a hug. "Oh, my God." She sighs in relief as she holds him and she pulls away as she looked around at her team members.
"They really need to check out that elevator."
━━━━━━
Casey discovered that while her and Spencer were in the elevator, they'd caught Evie Woodstone, who helped catch her siblings since she knew them well to know their next moves. Evie requested she'd be moved into a different facility if she were to help them. You know, a trade.
Her siblings unfortunately wouldn't go down with a fight and ended up losing all of them when they were shot down by the team. Evie honestly didn't know whether to be sad or relieved.
While this happened, the team was also working on trying to find Casey and Spencer since they were confused when they hadn't shown up to the last hotel they struck at. They spotted their car and they weren't in it but they checked every square inch of that hotel and couldn't find them. Eventually, Garcia used her hacking skills to track down both Spencer and Casey's cell and she found them at the hotel in the elevator.
Spencer and Casey had ended up getting treated for their injuries and saw that there had been no real damage sustained or suffered through the injuries. So that was a plus.
That night, Casey had decided that the team should stay in the city for the night and they would leave the next morning. So, they all went out for drinks and clubbing. Casey decided to call it an early night so she could get some rest before leaving the next morning. Spencer had decided to go with her to make sure she got to the hotel okay.
(They also made sure to take the stairs).
"Well, you've got some super human strength, let's talk about that." Spencer commented as they reached the topic of elevators and Casey, Matt, Luke and Erik retrieving him.
Casey laughs, "Yeah, I don't know what came over me." Spencer shrugs, "It's interesting, actually. A person can become stronger, tougher, and more physically powerful than would seem humanly possible when using enhancements such as doping, substances and training. It could've been a spur of the moment thing." Spencer explains. "Well, thank God for my motherly instincts kicking in." Casey chuckles.
Spencer and Casey then both reach their rooms and they're right across from each other. They pause in awkwardness and Casey sighs, "Well, uh, this is my stop. I'm glad we went out tonight on the town." Spencer nods, "I'm happy we were able to without any interruptions by broken elevators or bow and arrows." Casey nods back, "Gotta agree with that."
There's a long pause and they're not sure what to do now. Kiss? Invite the other to their room? Have sex again? It was weird, they hadn't brought it up to their teammates, for obvious reasons and they hadn't talked about it.
"Well, uh, I should let you get some sleep. I mean, we do leave early in the morning. Early bird gets the worm." Casey tells and Spencer nods, "Right."
They exchange awkward goodbyes and as soon as Spencer reaches into his room and closes the door behind him, he takes his tie off and is met with aggressive knocking at the door.
Spencer furrows his brows and opens his door and it met with Casey but before he can even ask her why she's here, her lips are already on his and her hands are all up in his hair as she continues to kiss him
"Casey, wha—?" Spencer asks and Casey shakes her head as she lays her hands on his chest and looks him in the eyes with certainty, "I don't know. But I know one thing and that is I don't... want to be alone anymore. And I mean more than just a warm body in bed. I want the whole thing. The late night talks, the dances in front of the refrigerator light, your mind, your body, your soul, your flaws, I want it all. And my mind is the most clear it has ever been and I want you to know that. And I'm ready." Casey tells him and Spencer can tell her words are genuine.
He grabs her hands on his chest as he lets out a sigh, "Casey..."
Casey misreads his signals and she reads him, "You don't want this." But that was not what Spencer meant by that at all. His eyes thwart up at her and Casey continues to speaks, "It's... it's understandable after how I've treated you but I mean it. I swear to God, I mean it and I... I love you. I swear to God, I love you. But I will respect your decision if maybe you—"
Suddenly, Spencer's lips are against hers and his hands are cupping her cheeks as they share a passionate kiss. They both pull away and Casey looks him the eyes as she asks, "Is that a yes?"
More than a yes, Spencer tells her.
More than a yes.
So, Spencer closes the door behind Casey and... y'all know what happened after that.
