🎭Film 2🎭

Once again, the ticking goes off, sounding from the projector as the black screen lights up with a faded grey. Numbers display themselves on the screen as the countdown starts.

Here we go!

Film: My Queen

Film writer: IR3NIC

Cover: 10/10

The cover is absolutely gorgeous. It's the right balance between eye catching and artistic. The font blends in well with the graphics.

Title: 9/10

It matches the main subject of the story - which is Myrah – while also being short and simple.

Blurb: 10/10

Honestly, the blurb deserved 10/10. Just from reading it, I could understand what Myrah was going to be like through the story. You described her in a really poetic way, and I especially liked the reference to a game that you had put in there. It's like you're really trying to portray to the reader that she can play people and use their lives as a bet without a single care.

Another thing I liked was the quote at the start. Personally, I love doing this as I believe it gives insight to a character's personality.

To be honest, the only thing I believe you could improve on here would be some of the sentence structuring. For example, instead of:

'A narcissist, a hypocrite, call her as you like, 'cause she is everything, got the chance to marry a king, will she dare to refuse'

I suggest writing something along the lines of:

'Call her what you will; a narcissist, a hypocrite - she is both. After being given the chance to marry a king, would she dare refuse?

Once again, this is just a suggestion and if you feel it is not needed then don't be pressured to use it.

Plot: 9/10

Honestly, from what I read, the plot is very well thought out and interesting. I found it thoroughly enticing to read through, and throughout the story, you never gave away any spoilers or hints. Myrah herself is a very complex character and I like that the story revolves around her. I believe making the female protagonist the antagonist as well was a refreshing change from the usual 'kind hearted' female lead.

Can we just talk about Myrah's ability to plan, though?

Although Myrah's reason for resentment against the country is still unknown in the chapters I read, her plan is unmatched in its strategy. To be honest, one of the most effective weapons for an antagonist is the ability to manipulate people and strategize and I think those are some of Myrah's best traits.

Characters: 10/10

Despite the fact that Myrah literally wants to decimate an entire country of supposedly innocent people, I still consider her as my favourite character. She is incredibly smart and cunning, whilst being totally unafraid and apathetic towards the people she desires to play. She is the perfect villainess.

Jimin, on the other hand, is not as cold as what he lets on in the beginning. The reader watches as he warms up to Myrah quite a bit in the later chapters. He seems to be a diamond in the rough sort of person.

Hoseok is the perfect depiction of the lower class and seems to be rather trusting of Myrah. In my perspective, it seems to me like he may even have a small crush on her – but again, that's just my assumption. (I'm bias wrecked by the guy, ok? Don't judge me XD)

Grammar: 8/10

There were some mistakes – most of which I found in the blurb, but they didn't affect my reading.

Flow: 10/10

I think that this book is well paced. The author did a great job in not making the story too boring by throwing everything at the reader all at once. Instead, she opted to slowly allow the reader to discover what lay hidden between the chapters. I highly appreciate that.

Writing style: 8/10

The writing style was neat and well structured. There was somewhat of a poetic undertone to the writing, but it wasn't so dense that the reader couldn't understand what was going on. The small quotes at the top of the chapter added depth to the writing.

Originality: 9/10

I have seen many historical fanfictions that portrayed a marriage between royals, but I have not seen – at least for a while – a female protagonist who is also an antagonist...and a smart one at that. As I said before, I found it to be quite refreshing from the normal take on female leads.

Personal enjoyment: 10/10

Truly, I think this was a very good read and would suggest it to anyone who likes the genre. It's nice to see a book portray a villain as an intelligent human rather than just the side character used to advance the plot. I see a lot of potential in this book, so please keep at it!

Total: 93/100

Let me know what you think! Did you agree with my review? >

You were far too involved in the movie to notice the projector stop ticking as the screen went black again. The only sad things about these movies were that they were just too short!

"Don't worry," Your friend assured you as she noticed your forlorn expression, "the next one is coming on in a second."

Just as she said that, the projector burst to life again.

I can't wait for the next film!
