twenty-three

Chaeyoung had just slipped the dress over her head when there was another knock at her door. This time assuming it would be Dahye again, she ran over, excited to show her how it looked. She'd barely gotten a chance to glance at herself in the mirror, so she wasn't sure herself, but it felt wonderful. It felt like it fit perfectly.

But this time, it was Juyeon at her door.

His jaw dropped when he saw her.

"Chaeyoung," he whispered, unable to take his eyes off of her. "You look stunning."

She didn't have any response for that. Her heart was practically beating out of her chest and suddenly all she could think about was how close he was to her, how much she wanted to kiss him, and how he'd called her stunning.

"It's time for our lesson," he said, composing himself first and saying something when she'd failed to find any words. "Are you wearing that today? Because I really don't think I'll be able to concentrate if you do," he said, his tone becoming playful.

His eyes weren't, though. He looked completely serious.

"I... I was just trying it on," she finally said. "I didn't even check to see how I look in it," she admitted, walking towards her mirror. Juyeon followed closely behind. "I thought you were Dahye," she said.

When she saw herself in the mirror, she became breathless too.

Because he was right. She did look pretty good. Maybe even a little stunning.

It fell perfectly on her body, fitting on all her curves. The lilac color contrasted beautifully with her jet black hair and almost red lips.

"I think this would go perfectly," Juyeon said, holding up a silver necklace that she'd never seen before.

She turned to face him, examining the necklace. "Where'd you get that?" It was really cute. A tiny silver bird, a tiny silver chain. And he was right. It would go perfectly. And she was certain she had earrings to match.

"I bought it for you at the market," he said sheepishly. "I couldn't help it. When I saw it I just thought it was meant for you."

Chaeyoung couldn't stop the giant smile from coming to her face. "I love it," she declared happily.

"Can I put it on you?" he asked. She nodded, turning around. She was about to lift her hair when she felt his hands on her shoulders and neck. He gently moved her hair to one side and then reached around her, placing the necklace on her neck. She swallowed, her heart skipping a beat as she watched him in the mirror. He was looking at her intently as he fastened the necklace, and his fingers stayed a second too long on her neck.

"It looks beautiful," he whispered, his voice deep. But she was watching him through the mirror. He wasn't looking at the necklace. His eyes were only on her.

She turned around, meeting his gaze. His eyes were full of an intensity that she wasn't used to.

"You have good taste," she said softly, suddenly feeling very nervous. Her eyes subconsciously darted to his lips, but she quickly looked away.

"Yeah. I do," he said, taking a tiny step closer to her.

A knock on her door startled them both apart.
