They got out of the car.

"I'll lower the power to let us through. Cover me." Astrid said and started to move the drift around. They kept walking. Through the drift she could see the pulses of black run up the barrier. But with the drift cover it looked normal. They opened the door and walked in. It was quiet.

Too clean and too quiet.

Astrid and Fez growled. Not trusting the place. Hunter pulled out his gun and changed the way he was walking so he could change direction quickly. He clicked off the safety. The little bar changed to red.

Red is dead.

Nico pulled out his sword. The black iron glittered dangerously. Will stood ready.

He was a healer, not a fighter.

Astrid carefully pulled out her kiopesh and shield.

Just one sign.

Astrid scanned the area. Her nostrils flared as she smelled. The scents were too fresh. Minutes at most.

And there's the sign.

Pink ropes burst out of nowhere. Astrid swivelled away from one into another. Her kiopesh dug into her side. In a matter of seconds the battle was over. A dark skinned, tall lady walked towards them.

"Who do we have here?" She asked. Astrid growled and glared. Sadie came around the corner.

"Don't hurt them! They are our three assassins and best medic." Sadie gasped.

"Why do you need assassins?" The lady asked.

"To kill monsters. They're our best." Sadie came up with it on the spot.

"Are they following anybody?" The lady asked.

"This one is following Ma'at. " Sadie said and glanced at the last three body's. "One of them is the same as Jaz and the other two aren't following anyone." The lady scanned the pink wrapped bodies. She flicked her fingers and the ropes melted away. Astrid got up. Her hair was a little risen out of the agitation. Fez was slowly calming down now that he could see his people were okay.

"My name is Cleopatra. And I rule all of the House of Life. " the lady said.

"Carter is the pharaoh." Nico said stealthing his sword.

"No. I rule. He is my son." The lady walked away.

"Explain." Astrid said.

"When we got here she had made claims over the house of life with a loophole. When she found out who I hosted she declared us sisters and Carter our shared son. Then declared no death related things allowed. So Walt has been hiding and so far flying under the radar. We need her gone before the house of life goes into civil war. Some people want Carter in power. And some want Cleopatra. They won't argue if a Drift Shifter takes one out of the picture." Sadie explained. Walt came in.

"We need to do this fast," he said then looked Astrid up and down. "What's up with the bullet proof vest?"

"Natasha designed outfits for the three of us. They work well." Astrid said.

"Keep your sleeves rolled down. Hide anything relating back to the others." Walt said. Cleopatra came in holding two dresses.

"Sadie and the follower of Ma'at, come with me." She said. Astrid and Sadie followed her out of the room.

"I have an announcement to make to the House of Life. And I want you two standing by my side." She explained.

"What is this announcement?" Astrid asked and tilted her head.

"That the Drift Shifters are back. And they support me." Cleopatra said. Astrid stood straighter and growled.

"How do you know?" Sadie asked and placed a gentle hand on Astrid's arm.

"I made it up. I need more supporters of we will win this war against the Romans." Cleopatra said. She handed them the dresses. Sadie and Astrid ducked away to get changed. Her dress had black threads running through it the back was completely open. Astrid was worried about it slipping down until she saw the clear straps you can ty behind your neck. Astrid used the drift to hide her tattoo from the Roman side. Sadie came in wearing the identical dress to Astrid's. Cleopatra was wearing a sparkly black one. They applied khole to thier eyes.

Astrid was starting to feel like a Hunger Games tribute. And so for the next half an hour Sadie and her debated which district they were in.

"The crowd is waiting. Let us go." Cleopatra said. Astrid glanced at Sadie.

While deciding on a district they were, they decided to send her back.
