They all climbed into the jeep the next morning after packing. Hunter took the wheel. They drive for little over an hour before turning the corner onto an old farm road. All of them were nervous about it.
"Maybe I should go ahead and make sure there aren't any surprises. If there are ill text you guys." Astrid said. In a silent agreement they pulled over and Astrid and Fez jumped out. Astrid shifted and started running. The air was getting cooler as the fall approached. Astrid could see a faint mist blow out of her muzzle. Eventually the pair came to a open field. She sprinted across and stalked up to the farm house. Shifting again she looked in all the windows. Fez came back from the barn with no problem. Astrid sent a quick text to her travelling companions through time and space. Within minutes she could hear the crunch of gravel under the tires. She came out from the side of the house to the front porch. Three people walked out. Astrid grabbed the railing and hopped over silently. They got out of the car and walked up to the porch. All of them having weapons out. She pulled out her own and uncovered herself from the drift.
"Hunter Malikie Evershot! What in the world are you doing?" His mother Astrid guessed yelled.
"Saving my friends life." He said quietly.
"Not according to the news your not!" His mother was still fuming.
"Do you want to know what really happened?" Astrid asked. Hunters family turned. All of them wore surprise on their faces. Astrid used her wings to push off from the rail she was leaning on. If she tried she could look pretty imitating.
"What do you mean?" Hunters step-dad asked.
"Okay, Justin Bieber." He looked offended. "We are what's called demigods. Half God half human. We fight monsters from Greek and Roman mythology for a living. Which isn't fun since you guys see it completely wrong. Hunter didn't shoot a old woman. He shot a blood thirsty fury who was about to slice and dice our good friend Nico."
"What kind of drug are you kids on?" The step dad asked. The mom was beginning to look guilty.
"What kind of drug are you on? I have wings. My dog is the size of a horse." Astrid smugly answered. Fez barked and grew in size.
"Leave or we phone the police." The step dad said.
"Stop!" Hunter's mom yelled. "I never told you who my son was because I didn't want you and your conspiracy theorists to prob my son who hasn't known about his heritage until the beginning of this summer."
"What do you mean?" The step dad asked sounding hurt.
"The Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse gods are alive. Those are only the ones we know about. We are living proof of it." Hunter said.
"So who's your parents?" He asked.
"I'm Will Solace, son of Apollo. Astrid, an arrow." Astrid shot one. Will collected light and shot it at the arrow. The arrow fell to the ground smoking.
"Nico Di Angelo. I was born in the early twentieth century. I was put in a hotel that kept me trapped in time. I'm a son of Hades." He explained.
"Do you have cool powers?" He asked
"I used to." Nico said. Astrid felt her side tingle. Pictures started flashing of Nico raising the dead and shadow travelling.
"I'm the son of Thanatos. The God of death itself." Hunter said.
"I'm more interesting. Astrid Canis, daughter of Lupa, host of Ma'at, blessed by Màni, drift shifter." Astrid said and smiled. They all shifted uncomfortably.
"Why not we go inside and sit. It will make us all on even grounds." Hunter's mom said.
"No weapons in the house." The step dad said. Hunter placed his gun on the table. Nico placed his sword and small silver dagger down. Will walked inside. Astrid put down her largest weapons, she pulled two small daggers out of her boots, a long thin and hard wire from her hair.
"Anything else?" The littler girl asked. Astrid sighed and pulled out her earbud. Then laid down on the table.
"Done." She said.
