Chapter Six

Astrid poked her head over the fence. She recognized those three voices.

They had shadow travelled to her Grandmother's back yard.

Sage. The tallest girl with a dark skin tone. Apparently she had gone punk like she wanted to.

Although everyone liked to tease her about her about the fact that she looked goth.

Her straight black hair was down with her purple highlights poking out in a few places. She had a black leather jacket on, an American Idiot t-shirt, black jeans and, what a surprise, black Doc Martins on. Her heavy black eyeliner looked good on her. Her phone was poking out of her pocket. Sage was apparently not in the mode to smuggle it into class by shoving it in her bra.

The violent girl was a good friend. Scary at times. But nice. She was like Nico. She tried to act all tuff, but underneath she's all fluff.

The second tallest girl was Kaylie. She had a pair of leggings on with a hoodie over top. Her boys high tops skidded on the ground as she walked. Her brown hair was pulled into a bun showing off her three earrings on. She was friendly. Slightly clumsy and had a good chance of raiding your fridge. Man did that girl have an appetite.

And lastly was Emma. She was a little short for their age. But she could out run even Astrid. She wore sporty clothes that fit her so well. She had her hair in her normal braid, which she looked amazing in. Her shy personality was a good change from Sages violent tendencies.

And then add Eddie into the mix. Well, you get the idea.

Astrid glanced at Natasha and Andrea. Asking them if it was okay. Natasha smiled. Andrea smiled from her eyes. Astrid patted the top of the fence. Her and Fez jumped it and quietly ran up from behind.

"I swear, I'm going to steal a car, drive down to Seattle, track down those two, and kidnap them." Sage said. She sounded so sure of herself. Astrid resisted the urge to laugh. And maybe yell at Sage no to. All while failing her arms around. Instead she flicked Sage in the back of the head. She turned so fast with a fist flying at her face. Astrid ducked to the side and grabbed her arm pulling her forward. All on instinct. Sage was about to go all Hunger Games on her when she saw who it was. Sage froze up in shock. Kaylie and Emma hugged her from behind.

"Did you bring Eddie Chong? You haven't let anybody beat up my nerd have you?" Sage asked while hugging her. Eddie's last name wasn't Chong. But Sage started to say it and it caught on as his nickname. Astrid sneezed. Then recognized the smell of her friends.

They were demigods.

"No. Nobody beat up your nerd." Astrid laughed. Natasha and Andrea walked up a little slowly. "In fact he could beat us all up." She still felt a little overwhelmed by how strong their smell was. It was weird how demigods clump together, become close friends. "I could beat you all up even faster. And we gotta go." Astrid said breaking their grip, panicking a little as she caught the monsters scent. A big monster who should be hunted by the Hunters of Artemis.

"What why?" Kaylie asked. Astrid gestured for Natasha and Andrea to get over here. She grabbed Natasha's arm and pulled her close.

"Their powerful demigods with a nasty monster on their tail." Astrid whispered knowing Andrea would hear. Astrid turned back to her friends. "Meet Natasha and Andrea. We'll explain more but right now we gotta-" Astrid stopped as she smelt the hunters pine scent mixed with the smell of mortals and demigods. "Hunters" Andrea said a very colourful word.

"Listen, it's life and death that you don't tell the girls who will be coming, who we are. But they will take you to a safe place for our kind. And explain everything. You just need to trust us." Natasha said. Astrid and the other two pressed the button on their earpiece and changed them into a helmet. Astrid pulled her weapons out of the drift.

Not a single lick of pain.

She strapped her kiopesh to her Doctor Who belt. She straightened her blue pull over and put on her bow and arrows. A tall man in a trench coat walked out of the shop across the street. A train horn honked as it came closer. This place was about to become a battleground. Astrid glanced back to the bushes and saw a Viking shield. She ran over and picked it up. It felt natural as if it had been made for her. It didn't feel like a trick or anything.

It felt right.

Natasha held a hammer and a flame in her hands. Andrea growled.

"What's happening?" Sage asked.

"Your going to beat something up with me." Astrid answered. She never thought she would say that. The man across the street looked up and lunged. The train came to pass and a war cry went off. Astrid howled and ran forward to join the fight.
