A burning sensation glided across her skin as her mother's hand drew backwards from the slap she had provided.

Her expression was furious, rivalling that of her husband's who simply looked at his youngest daughter with indifference.

Seolhee clapped a hand to her mouth, horrified at the action. Their parents had never raised their hands towards them, never physically punished them.

There was a first time for everything.

Hyunji stood still, unfazed by the sting that she had received, staring at her parents.

"How dare you," Her mother hissed, her cheeks flaming red. "How dare you go to an illegal event and get yourself arrested. Do you know what this has done? Do you realise what your actions have done to us? To the company? The media are eating up the fact that the daughter of the owners of Park Pharmaceuticals was arrested last night?"

"The reputation of the business has been tarnished because of your stupidity," Her father bellowed. "It was ruined once with your sister's mistake, but at least she wasn't arrested! You... I don't even know how you ended up like this,"

He glared at his daughter, whose anger was beginning to rise, she clenched her fists, fury noticable in her eyes.

"We provided you with everything. Your future was handed to you on a silver plate- " Her mother continued, but before she could add fuel to the fire, Hyunji interrupted.

"I never wanted to be a doctor!" She snarled. "You and father both simply told me that I must become a doctor for the sake of your business. I followed. You never once asked me what I wanted to do, what I wanted to study. You provided me with finance and all the necesseties I needed, yes, but when did you ever care for Seolhee and I properly? With love? When did you ever take care of us as your daughters and not your heirs who would take over the company? Never,"

"Hyunj- " Seolhee tried, but the younger Park girl spun to face her older sister.

"Our parents married you off to that bastard of your ex-husband after they found out about you being in a relationship with that street racer. They didn't care that you loved him, they didn't care that you were being abused in that marriage, they did everything for show, everything so that they looked good in the press. When they forced you to leave, how did you feel?"

The oldest Park girl trembled, the marble floor swaying beneath her feet as her parents directed their glare at her.

"Angry, furious," She whimpered. "Like I had lost everything,"

"Seolhee, we needed to protect our rep- "

"What about us?" Seolhee shrieked and for the first time, their parents were stunned.

The golden girl who had maintained the perfect image had lost her composure, had lost her ability to keep fighting for both others and herself.

Tears streamed down her cheeks, falling like a beautiful waterfall, and Hyunji squeezed her older sister's hand tightly as she continued.

"You never protected us... from yourselves," Seolhee sobbed. "I gave everything up... I gave up the love of my life so that I could make you happy. I stayed in an abusive marriage for three years so that the two of you would be happy, whilst hiding bruises and cuts from my younger sister because I knew what she would do,"

The girls' parents remained shocked at their oldest's cry, her anger, her sadness, the betrayal that she had felt. 

"You may be our parents by name and blood," Hyunji drew herself to her full height, towering over her mother, staring at her father. "But you never once treated us like your daughters. Neither me or Seolhee will take over the business, so you can take your reputation and shove it in the trash. We're leaving,"

As the two girls stepped out, hand-in-hand, they heard their mother's voice from the hallway.

"If you leave now, then you will be forbidden from returning. We will no longer pay your fees or provide you any financial support,"

Hyunji looked at her sister, and as always, the oldest had a reassuring smile upon her face.

"Don't worry about that," She murmered. "I'll sort everything out,"

And so the two butterflies had finally been set free.
