Hyunji didn't want her eyes to leave Jisung's, and it felt like an eternity until he finally drew away, preparing for his race.
She had felt butterflies swarm through her entire soul when they had met eyes. It felt cliché, yet, neither could deny the feeling of time slowing down, the atmosphere growing lighter, as though they were the only ones present in the world at that point.
"Goodness me, look at you! And you say you're not whipped!" Miso nudged her best friend, shaking her head slightly at the medical student, who rolled her eyes.
Oh, she would make sure that they got together.
The atmosphere was effervescent, laughter, chatter errupting throughout the stands as spectators continued to gather, bracing themselves for what they were sure was going to be one of J.One's many victories.
It took a few minutes until the crowd had finally settled down, and the familiar voice of Felix drifted through the air, readying the supporters for another exhilerating race.
The Park girl felt her breathing slow as Jisung glanced up at the stands once more, meeting her gaze before he slid into his Nissan Skyline, firmly shutting the door behind him.
Let the race begin.
...
"Congratulations!" Miso chirped as she and Hyunji approached the blue-haired racer who was surrounded by the boys he considered to be his brothers.
"Thank you," He smiled at the shorter of the two girls, his expression brightening further at the sight of the Park girl who reflected his manner.
"That was quite the show," She grinned. "The part where you were drifting? Was it for show, or- "
"If I said that it was so you would be impressed, would you believe me?"
Her smile faded into a more startled expression, as the blue-haired racer smirked at her shock of his sudden revelation. Slowly, but surely, the corners of her lips twitched upwards.
"Consider me impressed,"
"Oh, go get a room, you two!" Changbin waved a dismissve hand. "Excuse me whilst I throw up!"
The group muttered and mumbled, laughing at the older boy's expense as they agreed, gently pushing the pair to talk on their own. Like Miso, they too had agreed that they were going to get Jisung and Hyunji together.
"Hyunji?"
"Yes?"
Jisung stared at the girl in front of him, her dark hair having been tied back, a few stray hairs framing her face, her eyes looking at him with a gentle, kind manner, something he had missed for so long.
"Would you - would you like to go on a drive... with me?" He managed to get out, directing his view away so that the medical student wouldn't catch sight of his pink cheeks.
Since when did he get so flustered by girls?
Hyunji beamed as took a few steps closer to the racer.
"As long as you obey the traffic rules, and don't speed,"
...
A comforting silence enveloped the interior of the Nissan Skyline that was so precious to Jisung. It wasn't very often that he took his beloved car for a spin in the mainstream city, especially with someone who wasn't one of the boys.
But as he eyed the Park girl from the corner of his eyes, he couldn't help but be astounded by how cosy she looked in his car. How she wasn't gripping onto the leather of the seats for dear life, but was rather admiring the sight of a bustling Seoul.
"How did you get into racing?" She asked, turning her head to face the Han boy who smiled at the question.
"High school, I was in my second year, and things weren't going well for me. Not necessarily academically, but in my personal life. Chan was my senior, and we were friends, and when he saw how I was struggling both mentally and financially, he offered to teach me the art of street racing,"
"So you took it?"
Jisung nodded. "Chan was one of the best street racers to exist back then, he taught me everything he knew,"
"Why did he stop?"
Jisung paused, memories of the oldest boy in pain, crying, as though he had lost his entire world.
"There was a girl," Jisung trailed off. "None of us quite know the whole story apart for Minho, but it wasn't good, and after it, he just stopped racing,"
Jisung knew that in the street racing world that it was a crime to have a weakness, a flaw that could ruin everything.
But Park Hyunji was the weakness he had brought on for himself, and he wanted to keep it.
He wanted her.
