Happy Birthday, Mrs. Graham Pt. 2

The face he made was indeed frightening, but she had to keep calm so she could be in the courtroom and back.

"Why are you going, and why in the hell does he want to see my daughter?" Drake asked. Nicki bit her bottom lip as she looked into his eyes. She released her lip and sighed, putting Kyleigh on the floor to sit. She looked up at her parents worriedly; she always had when she sensed trouble between Mommy and Daddy.

"Aubrey, I'm just doing a favor for a friend. It's nothing serious; and he wants me to bring our daughter to the hearing because he hasn't seen her in a while," she tried.

"I don't give an ass if he hasn't seen her in a thousand and one years. You're not taking her, and you aren't going. It's your birthday for Christ's sake!" He was angry, and there was no stopping him.

"Aubrey, please," she begged, but he didn't care. His pride was hurt. She was visiting another man on the day they were supposed to be together.

"Onika, no," he countered back at her. Any more of this nonsense, and he would blow a gasket. "You know what him and I have been going through, and you know how I feel about the thought of you even mentioning his name, Onika." Drake was relentless.

"You act like I'm going to see him just to f-" she stopped. She knew that if she'd finished that sentence, they would be hell to pay.

"Finish that sentence. I dare you, Onika. I. Dare. You." Nicki sighed as she heard a certain someone getting fussy. She looked down and saw little Kyleigh with her brows knitted together. She bent down and picked her up, setting her sturdily on her hip.

"I'm sorry, Aubrey. But we have to go," she said as she walked around him to the door.

"When you get back, put Kyleigh down for her nap. It's gonna be a long afternoon for the both of us," he said. Nicki didn't even turn around. She paused and took in everything he said.

"Alright," she breathed out. She kept walking until she made it out the door. She went to the car and out Kyleigh in her large car seat. Nicki made sure Kyleigh was strapped in before going to the front. She got in and started the car after putting on her seat belt. Backing out of the gate, Nicki watched it close as she drove on. The drive to the courthouse would take thirty minutes to an hour, so she kept her daughter occupied by talking to her.

Kyleigh, of course, couldn't respond well, though. Since Ky was two, Nicki could say she was fluent in Gibberish-speak. When Nicki thought Kyleigh was starting to get bored, she gave her instructions to play on the iPad mini that was installed in the seat. She drove and drove, thinking of the rules of the courtroom.

1.) Cell phone use is strictly prohibited in the courtrooms. Cell phone camera and video is strictly prohibited in the courthouse.

2.) Inclement weather – In the event of adverse weather conditions and/or other unusual conditions, information will be posted on this website and by media outlets throughout the state, including radio and television.

3.)Proper dress is required. No shorts, tank tops, or hats are allowed in any courtroom.

4.) Children are allowed in the courtrooms as long as they are not disruptive during the proceedings. There is no daycare service at any of the courthouses.

5.) There is no food or beverages allowed in the building. Please see the Capitol Police if there are exceptions.

She had already spoken to them upon getting ready to leave for the courthouse, and they approved of her having snacks and juice for Kyleigh. They didn't grant her wish because she was Nicki Minaj, but because they knew she had a good heart. They knew of the Drake/Meek feud, and coming to the hearing knew she cared for Meek as well as Drake.

After both her and Kyleigh were scanned and went through the metal detector, a bailiff escorted them both to the courtroom as he cleared the way for them as well. When they walked down the aisle to take a seat, Nicki saw Deen and Tak seated with charcoal-black suits on as they listened to the Judge Genece Brinkley go on about how she thought Meek was not fit for to be freed after all he'd done and whatnot. She had given the baby to Tak, maneuvering to get beside him to sit until they called her.

Seeing Meek up there was making her heart hurt. She listen to the judge as she made her false claims about him;she knew with all her might what Judge Brinkley was saying were lies. Then, the moment of truth came: she was called to come up.

"May Onika Maraj please take the stand," Judge Brinkley said. She made her way through the two men and turned back to Kyleigh as she started to whine.

"Mommy has to go up there now, but I'll be right back," she whispered to her whimpering daughter. Kyleigh calmed down as Deen placed the purple pacifier that Nicki gave him in her mouth. Nicki turned on her heel, and walked up to the bailiff that had escorted her and Ky inside. With a Bible in hand, he had a small smile as he talked to her.

"Place your hand on the Bible and hold your right hand up." She obeyed without the bat of an eye. "You do solemnly state that the testimony you may give in the case now pending before this court shall be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God."

"I swear that the testimony that I shall give, shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God." She took her hand from the Bible when he said she was allowed. He put his hand in the direction of the witness stand. She gave him a smile while walking to her correct spot. As Nicki sat in the chair, Judge Brinkley spoke to her.

"Onika, is there anything you'd like to say on Robert's behalf?" She leaned into the microphone.

"Judge Brinkley, I know Robert isn't perfect,no one is. But I can't believe how much he's changed."

"And you think that plays a part in his behavior?" She asked. Nicki knew she couldn't lie, due to being under-oath. So, she spoke from what she felt.

"He doesn't have a lot of structure. He can be irresponsible," she said. Judge Brinkley nodded as she continued. "Since I first met him, since we first became friends... I think I've been working on that a little bit. He's just getting accustomed to being an adult."

On that, Judge Genece Brinkley seemed to agree.

As the case went on and on, Nicki was allowed to leave the stand. When she went back to her seat, she saw Kyleigh asleep in Deen's lap as he softly bounced her while she laid on her stomach. She took her seat by Tak, and he turned to her.

"Yo, Nic, this was nice what you did for ya boy," he said. She smiled and shook her head.

"It was nothing. Just helping out, Tak," she dismissed him.

"No, really. I know all this mess between ya hubby and Meek isn't so well, but I thank you. Forreal," he said. She gave him one last smile and turned forward to listen to the rest of the hearing.

Meek had another hearing scheduled in March, so everyone had a long while to relax before the next court date. Everyone was heading out of the courthouse, so Nicki thought she had some time to talk before she had to leave for her lecture from Drake. She walked over to Meek talking to Nasheema on the phone. He saw her approaching him, so he wrapped up his call pretty quick. His smile shined like a light bulb in a dark room.

He picked up Kyleigh when she was in arm's reach of him.

"Hey Mamma," he said, kissing her all over her face. She squealed and tried to push him off. Nicki playfully rolled her eyes at the duo. When he stopped kissing her, he placed her on his hip.

"Hello, Robert," Nicki said in a playfully sassy tone. He engulfed her in a warm hug as Ky was squished in the middle. He pulled away from her, still holding Kyleigh.

"Thank you, really," he said. She chuckled.

"I got enough of that from Tak. Just know it was a friendly gesture, Rob." He laughed at her as she did, and gave her another hug. "You're welcome, Robert. You're welcome," she said, remaining in his arms.

She heavily paced back and forth in front of Drake as he sat on the bed. They had just finished another screaming match, but it wasn't the last. Their heavy breaths were the least of their problems. When she got home, she put Kyleigh down for a nap, and went to Drake. They'd made sure to close the door so Kyleigh wouldn't be awoken. Both Drake and Nicki's voices were almost gone, but they didn't care. They both tried to prove a point to the other.

"I don't know why you brought my kid around him, and I most certainly don't know how you could just stand to be near with all the shit he's been causing!" He screamed.

"I was just doing a favor, Aubrey. How many times do I have to tell you?!" She argued back at him.

"Favor or not, this stunt you pulled is all over the media, Onika! It makes it seem like you're siding with this fucking asshole!" He yelled as he stood. He walked up close to her so she knew just what he was getting at.

"You know good and well that I am not taking anyone's side. I just want all of this goddamned madness to stop," she countered. "If I were to take sides, I'd take his!"

Alright, I'll just stop this right here. No? You don't want it to end? Fine...geez.

That literally broke his heart. She had confessed to taking the enemy's side in the feud. He shook his head as his face turned to pure anger. He was angry during the yelling, but this was a new, ornery Drake. Nicki saw this, and backed back from him. She had never seen this side of him before. He walked towards her until he had her cornered. He got into her face with beastly eyes.

"You what?" He asked her. He grabbed her arms and shook her violently as he talked. "You what?!" He screamed as he finished shaking her. Letting her go, he still stood in front of her.

"Aubrey, I'm sorry," she said as tears left her eyes. She was scared and in shock. He had never treated her like this. He  shook his head, walking away from her.

"Do you not know what you're worth to me?" He asked with his back to her. She didn't need to answer since it was rhetorical. "You worth more than diamonds and gold, actually," he said. Nicki was wiping her tears as she listened. Slowly, she walked to the bed and sat on it. He craned his neck down to look at her.

"Au-"

"Shh. Don't you see I can't breathe without you. You are my life and pride," he said. But what you said honestly hurt me," he said. He turned and sat on the bed next to her.

"Aubrey, I'm sorry, but I was angry. You were angry at me for helping a friend, and..." she trailed off as more tears made their way down her face. She sniffled and he rubbed her back. He brought her into a hug, lying down with her on his chest.

"I apologize for...what I did. I shouldn't have done that. I just didn't want you to take his side," he said.

"There was no one's side I was taking, Aubrey," she said, wiping her eyes. "I only said what I said from anger, hoping to get you mad as well.

"I love you, Onika." She leaned up on his chest.

"I...love you," she said shakily from trying to stop her crying. He rubbed her back and gave her a small smile.
