Chapter 1 - Here Comes The Bride

Jenn stared into her own eyes in the small mirror, that hung on the wall on the chapel's small bathroom.
She could almost taste the butterflies in her mouth.
Today was the day..
They would really do it.
In a few short minutes she would walk out there.
Her father would take her arm, his warm face beaming at her in his fatherly pride, and the tears of seeing his little girl all grown up - that his voice had hinted at earlier - would maybe even start to show.
Then the music would start to play, and they would walk through a sea of happy, smiling faces.
She would look up, and he would be there..
Waiting.
Looking back at her, with those mezmerising eyes.
Those eyes that had captured her heart the moment she first glimpsed him.
And they would look only at her, those eyes, seeing nothing else, and make her heart flutter like they had that first day.
Like they had ever since.
And he would be waiting there, just for her.
His face would reveal that beautiful, beautiful smile, that made the world dissappear around her, as he fought and lost the fight for the last bit of solemn dignity, and all of his excitement and hapiness would shine through, just as it had that day in the park, when he had looked up at her, kneeling on the ground, and she had said the magic words.

Jenn had to take deep, deep breaths to steady herself, her heart already fluttering like a mad little bird.

She tucked a loose lock of her hair into place, her fingers stroking her mother's necklace as they passed it.

The very same necklace her mother had once worn in this very same chapel.
Had she also stood here, in this bathroom, trying to keep her heart from exploding in her chest, while the same priest that now prepared himself for his sermon stood at her father's side?

Her fingers lingering on the necklace, she closed her eyes for one last time, taking one last steadying breath.
The pearls warmed to her touch.
They had led her mother to true love then.
Now, they would lead her aswell.

Today was the day.

And the time was now.

Smiling, Jenn opened her eyes und turned.

A strangers face greeted her.

She gasped softly.
He floated there in front of her, a ghostly vision - like it was made of soft smoke - right in the air.
It was like nothing she had ever seen.
The image, ephemeral in its smoke like nature, rainbows and little wisps of light dancing around the edges, and yet, it seemed solid, almost real.

The vision showed her a young man who seemed close enough to touch, yet very far away.

She saw him as from above, his eyes closed, long, dark lashes resting on his cheeks, soft lips ever so slightly open.
He looked asleep, wearing nothing but a pair of boxers, his well toned upper body naked.

His face drew her in, enchanted her in its beauty, and quite without her choosing, her hand had already started to rise to it.
Her fingers touched the smoky substance, and for a second, just for a blink of an eye, she felt herself gently touch it, his warm skin, smooth and soft under her fingertips.

Then, without warning, the whole room seemed to shift, the floor she had stood on was now a wall, and Jenn fell and fell, right into the vision, into the smoke, towards the sleeping young man, who suddely was very, very far away, yet who had gotten no smaller, but grew larger and larger and ever larger,
as she fell screaming towards him from above.
