~Too Late (Dreamnap Angst)~
-1550 words (Not including this) I fell asleep like three times while writing this so I hope you enjoy! (also if there are any spelling errors blame my tiredness.)-
Sapnap was walking around the DreamSmp mindlessly trying to get some fresh air. There had been a lot of tension no matter where he went lately. Even if he wasn't directly in it everything had still be stressing him out. Adding to the stress and anxiety of Dream being in jail. That thought crossed his mind as he walked past the prison. He stopped and looked for a minute, all the memories he shared with Dream coming back to him. It made him sad to know he wasn't the person he thought he was.
Sapnap didn't even know if he ever cared about him. Was he manipulating him just like everyone else? Had Sapnap and George meant nothing to him? He kept asking himself these questions and more as he stared at the prison. He had stop himself from going in and talking to him countless times before, but this time he felt like he wouldn't be able to leave the sight without seeing him. He tired to walk away but he kept coming back somehow. Like he was running in circles around the place.
After a while or comp templating he gave up and walked towards the prison entrance, afraid of what he was getting himself into. He entered the prison, walked through the nether portal to get to the other side, (Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't seen the prison layout in a while but I'm pretty sure the Portal comes first.) and meet Sam at the desk. "Hey Sam. . ." Sapnap muttered looking up to face the Creeper hybrid. "Sapnap? I didn't think I'd ever see you here again. Not after last time." Sam said to him. "Yeah, there was a lot of emotions last time I was here." Sapnap said as he rubbed his arm. "Why'd you decide to come back?" Sam asked him. "I don't know. I guess I just couldn't stay away from him as long as I thought I could." Sapnap said.
"Okay then. Here sign this." Sam said as he handed Sapnap a book. He did as Sam said and signed the book before handing it back to him. "Thank you. Okay follow me." Sam said as they started walking. Sapnap had to do everything the same as the last time he came. The spawn points, the potions, the water and lava, everything was the same as they approached closer to the wall of lava surrounding Dream's cell. They soon arrived there and Sapnap took some time to the side or the lava to take a deep breath as Sam lowered the wall. The lava sank to the bottom quicker than Sapnap had remembered.
Sam ushered him over as the other side became clearer to see. He walked over and as the lava flowed downwards he could just barely see Dream on the other side. He was in the corner with a book in his hand. Sapnap soon realized he probably didn't notice the lava was falling, so he stayed still, not moving nervously at all anymore. "Step on the platform." Sam told him blandly. Sapnap did as he said and stood on the platform on the floor as the last of the lava fell. "When the platform starts moving I need you to move along with it or else your going to fall off." Sam instructed.
"I know Sam you told me this last time. Do you have to say the same thing to every person every time they come? I mean come on." Sapnap chuckled. "It's a procedure so yes, yes I do." Sam said, his face stone cold. "Yeesh, tough crowd." Sapnap said turning back towards the once lava filled chamber. "I'm going to move the platform now. Once your on the other side the barrier separating you and Dream will stay up until the platform comes back and the lava is down. Do not speak to him until the barrier is down. Once you two are done just yell for me and I'll tell you what to do next. Okay?" Sam explained. "Sir yes sir!" Sapnap joked. The tall man just rolled his eyes and pulled a lever down. The platform beneath Sapnap's feet started to move as he followed along with it.
He looked down at the remaining lava on the floor, scared to know what would happen if he fell. He tried not to think about it as it disturbed him. The platform arrived at the cell and Sapnap stepped off watching it go back for a second. He turned around to see that Dream had looked up from the book that was in his hands, making eye contact with him. He tried to avoid it until the barrier was down, looking over to the clock on the wall. He could hear movement and felt he had to know what Dream was doing, so he turned his head back in his direction. Dream had put his book back in the chest that was supplied to him and was now leaning against the wall, waiting for the barrier to lower so he could speak to his friend. The lava was back down and the barrier separating them lowered, and Dream ran to Sapnap tackling him to the ground in a hug.
Sapnap was shocked that he just did that. "Sapnap!" Dream yelled in a happy tone. "Hey Dream. . ." Sapnap replied. Dream got off him so they were both sitting up on the floor. "I missed you! Last time kinda ended on a sour note." Dream said. "In a way I guess." Sapnap muttered. "I thought you weren't gonna come back after that." Dream told him.
"That was kind of the plan yeah." Sapnap said looking up to look at Dream's masked face. "Oh," Dream sighed. Sapnap got closer to him a cupped one of his cheeks from under his mask. "Look Dream, I love you but it's hard for me to trust you again." Sapnap said. "Why? I didn't do anything to you." He went silent, shocked at what he just heard. Did Dream really think he didn't do anything? After what he said and did?
If not to him and everyone else. Sapnap stood up, Dream following behind. "Didn't do anything? Didn't do anything!? Dream you hurt me and George with what you said!" Sapnap yelled. "What did I say to make you this upset?" Dream asked putting a hand on his hip. "You said the only thing you cared about was Tommy's stupid disks! That hurt us Dream! It hurt as a lot!" Sapnap shouted at him as tears started to form in his eyes. Dream stood there silently and crossed his arms. Sapnap couldn't tell if he was thinking or giving him the silent treatment like last time so he just wiped his eyes and looked at the clock on the wall.
He felt arms wrap around him tightly as Dream spoke. "Sapnap, your my best friend! I care about you more than anything else." Dream told him. He looked back to Dream to see that he had moved his mask to the side of his face. It had been a long time since Sapnap had seen his face to the point where he had almost forgotten what it looked like. "Those things I said were only meant to scare Tommy, not you or George." Dream said. "But that's still not okay! Dream he's a kid! A kid who's been through too much shit as is! You shouldn't manipulate him! You can't he doesn't deserve that!" Sapnap yelled. Even though he was mad he leaned into Dream's touch, remembering how much they used to do this.
"Sapnap, he was stealing my server. I had to do something." "Dream you stole my fish." Sapnap said sarcastically. "Okay I will admit I went a little crazy back there, I'm sorry." Dream laughed. "Thank you for that, but sorry won't fix all the things you did." Sapnap said pushing Dream away. "Sapnap I'm trying! What else do you want me to do!? I'm trying my best to apologize because I," Dream stopped himself, leaving Sapnap confused as to why. Dream sighed. "Because I love you to much to lose you." Sapnap didn't know what about that sentence made his heart full but also break at the same time but something did. His tears flowed down his face like a river and he covered his mouth.
He looked to the ground trying to figure out what to say but nothing came to mind. "You okay Sap?" Dream asked him calmly. "Just," Sapnap sniffled, "Just give me a hug." he said. And with that he did, being wrapped back in Dreams arms again. "Sapnap, what I said back then was a lie, but what I'm saying now is true." "But how do I know you really mean that. How am I supposed to believe anything you say anymore!" Sapnap shouted as he hugged Dream back tightly. "I just want my best friend back. . ." He mumbled. Sapnap was lifted by the chin so he was looking up at Dream. With a sweet smile Dream kissed him gently. It only lasted a few seconds, but to Sapnap his world just turned around. As Dream pulled away he spoke one last time. "I never left Sappy."
