Prompt: Prologue/the Day I Got Expelled (The Lightning Thief the musical)
Percy Jackson AU
Lyrics from the The Lightning Thief the musical. Guys, I purposely tweaked part of the lyrics so it fit our green bean so please don't go off on a tangent about it. XD thank you! I know how PJO fans work, I'm one of them.
*******
Look.
I didn't ask to be a half-blood.
I didn't ask to be hero seeking praise.
Being a half-blood, it's scary
It mostly gets you killed in very nasty ways
I didn't want to cause trouble, trouble
I'm less a player and more the played
And, honestly, I'd be totally be fine
If I could make it to the next grade, next grade.
It wasn't dirty socks or my sleeping bag,
It was the danger that I smelled.
The day it all went down,
The day I got expelled.
You've probably heard about at least one Greek God. Zeus? Ares? Apollo? If not then good.
You're probably so insignificant you can go on living your normal life, have love, life, and all that fancy stuff you dream about.
Be happy with that boring life.
Be happy you don't know who the gods are.
Because I do.
And boy do I wish I could live a life like yours.
Once upon a time, there was a prophecy. A prophecy that stated that six kids would save the universe.
Two of them were siblings. Kai and Nya Smith. Kai is the son of Hephaestus and Mya. Nya is his half sister, daughter of Poseidon and Mya.
Don't...
Don't ask.
The next is Jay Walker, son of Zeus. Real nervous guy for a son of a king god.
Then there's Cole Brookstone. Descendant of Gaia. Yeah, Gaia. The crazy earth goddess. His weakness... cake.
After Cole is Zane Julien. He's actually a robot. You're probably asking how a robot can be a demigod. Honestly... it's complicated. Some deal with Hephaestus and Khione.
And then there's me... Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon. This story is one you're going to have to find out for yourself...

Here I was. Son of the world's most powerful demigod gone-bad and I was sitting on the streets with a bean can in my hand, begging for money. I tilted the tin, the flatter of a few coins rolling out pathetically onto the pavement, echoed with the self-loathing sighs as I counted them. Two quarters, a dime, and three nickels. I rolled the cold metal around in my fingers. Maybe I could buy some candy or something from the dispenser in the convenience store.
Huge, wet, sad sniffles jerked me out of my thoughts as I looked up to see two kids plodding down the street. They obviously were homeless as well. Filthy hand-me downs from Good Will hung loosely on their skin as they hugged each other for warmth. The little girl was crying as she pressed what looks like a wet sock to her brother's eye. When he removed it I could see a huge bruise blackening his eye.
"Hey." I grunted, my voice rough as I glanced up at them with half-lidded eyes. "what happened?"
"Some people mugged us." The boy muttered, tugging his sister along. "Preppy school kids wanting our dinner and money."
I chewed on my lip. There was only one group who would do that. "Darkley's?"
They both nodded. Of course. My old chums were preying on homeless kids. Sighing, I scooped up the pitiful coins and dropped them in the girl's hands.
"Here." I said gruffly. "It's not much but it's something."
They stared wide-eyed at me. "Thank you, mister." The boy said.
I gave him a small, tight, smile. "No problem," I began trudging away, glancing back for a moment. "You stay away from those Darkley's kids."
"Will do! Thank you!" They called back, giggling and running towards the shelter.
I bent at my things and bundled them into my pack, hoisting it over my shoulder and glancing warily around. My hand instinctively slid to the small cylinder that hung on a chord around my neck. It looked like a simple necklace with Greek writing on it but if a monster turned up it could turn into a katana in no time. Thankfully months of homeless stench masked my half-demigod smell as I trekked down the road. Unfortunately, I hoped too soon because a loud skitter made me pause.
I was on a small road downtown. Not a single person in sight. Perfect place to prey on a weak, hungry demigod. I glanced carefully around, dropping my pack as my hands slid to the small charm on my necklace. As much as I needed the stuff in that pack it would only hinder my ability to fight if a monster came out. Besides everything I needed was zipped up on the pocket of my green hoodie.
"Trying to scare me?" I challenged into the quiet, empty alley. "Or trying not to be scared."
Silence. I glanced at the road the kids disappeared down. They should be fine. Unless they're demigods too. I pressed my lips in a thin line as a shadow detached itself from a wall. I could make out a person. As they drew closer I could see they were dressed in dark clothing, but there were small red details dotting their outfit choice. They wore a mask that covered their face but I could make out two narrowed amber eyes in the bundle of fabric. They drew two long katanas, spinning them impressively, showing off his obviously experience with the weapon as they strode down the road. Skittering made me glance slightly to the side from the corner of my eye. Obviously, they had friends.
When they lunged, I tightened my grip on the charm, focusing as I mouthed the incantation. A long sword of my own formed in my hand and I blocked the first attack. They were holding back, I could see it. Probably doubting my fighting abilities. My eyes narrowed, I'll have to give them a challenge then. It was a dance, swift feet moving quickly, blades clashing in a symphony. They were very skilled and obviously a master with the blade so I needed to focus. This wasn't just some monster I could slash my way through. I studied their fighting style, they moved quickly but a little too aggressively. More on impulse than precision. I could use that to my advantage.
I rode with their blow as they pushed my blade to the side before rolling and sweeping the leg. They stumbled but recovered quickly, their gaze dangerous as they began to really fight. I began to push harder, getting dirtier, soon I was starting to get the upper hand when someone else dropped in. Wearing blue they bore nunchucks as a weapon so I had to dodge their swing.
I knew they weren't Darkley's kids, they worked too well together. But I they weren't from the Sons of Garmadon because they didn't work that well together. I watched they stumbled and got in each others way. I quickly made work of ducking in and out of the two of them.
"Ow!" The blue one yelped when I managed to weave around the person so Red smacked him with the hilt of his blade.
"Move out of the way!" Red growled, nudging him.
"You move!"
I stumbled when Blue tripped and smashed into me, the move was completely unintentional but Red took advantage of that and they knocked me down. A third party jumped down, completely dressed in black and kicked my blade away.
I grunted as Red pressed down on my rib cage but what sparked some anxiety was the growing heat beneath their fingertips. A child of Hephaestus.
Many demigods sought people like me out, usually for revenge. The revenge wasn't very pretty. I needed to act fast. In a flash I kneed them in the crotch and they released a little tension on my hands. Before the other two could step in, power had already started, the green energy swirled in my palms before I released it in a blinding emerald light. It knocked them back and I scrambled to my feet.
"I thought you said this was a minor god's kid!" Black yelled, a sharp male voice as he got to his feet, kicking my sword away.
"I must've miscalculated." A calm voice replied.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Four of them?
This one was dressed in white, huge unblinking eyes fixed on me as they pressed their hands to the ground. I stumbled when my feet slid on something. Ice. I was getting defeated fast and my hopes were severed when Blue lit their hands with electricity. They were one of the big three. I could tell from their blows that they weren't aiming to kill. Maybe I'd get lucky. I sucked in my breath, hoping and praying this wasn't a stupid idea as I paused and raised my hands in surrender.
"You got me." I admitted reluctantly when they stopped attacking. "Now what do you want?"
Red slid his swords back into their sheaths before a hand reached up and pulled down his mask, revealing a head of brown hair. A long scar ran over his face but his face bore a smug smile. "We don't want anything. But our master's been pretty insistent on us finding you."
Hands grabbed my arms and pulled them behind my back.
"Whether you like it or not SOG you're coming to Camp Half-Blood."
Note*****
I love Rick Riordan's stories so much. He's such an amazing writer and the songs from the musical are AMAZING! I went a different route at one point for this one-shot. Making all the elemental masters gods and goddesses but I really wanted to do a sort of crossover.
The one shot has a lot of hidden backstory that I didn't reveal so sorry about that I guess XD. I'll let your imagination enjoy that for now.
It was a little tricky finding who would be their godly parent and I hope you like the choices I made.
If you can think of a better one than feel free to comment it! I'd love to hear your friendly opinion!
I hope you liked the first part of my song shuffle challenge! Next up is a depressing cat song!
