Based off of Avatar the Last Airbender

"Someone's at the door." Kai felt his hand slip on the sword he was currently trying to polish. It clattered to the ground as he exchanged a worried look with his sister.

Kai quickly grabbed the red cloak from the hook and threw it over his sister. Nya tucked her water tribe style clothes under it and pulled her hair up as more pounding sounded on the door.

"I'm coming!" Kai masked his anxiety with annoyance as he rushed to open the door.

Kai was expecting soldiers of Lord Garmadon's army. Or maybe even someone from the fire nation trying to rat them out. Kai has hoped their remote area would help hide Nya but you could never be too sure. But to his surprise an old man stood there, an Air nomad by the looks of it, with a long white beard and large rice hat.

"Who are you?" Kai's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "Why are you here?"

The man calmly didn't answer but elbowed Kai with unexpected strength and entered the blacksmith shop.

"I'm here for a weapon. I'm aware you should be open at this time." The man said calmly.

Kai's eyes narrowed. Was this guy crazy? "You must be a fool if you think we're going to believe an air nomad would causally go walking on a fire nation black smith shop."

"Kai?" Nya steppes out from behind the back room . "Who is it?"

The old man raised an eyebrow. "But this isn't just a fire nation blacksmith shop is it?"

The siblings reacted fast, with a few quick blasts Kai had shot fire at the strings that held boards up. They clattered over the door and covered the large windows. Nya moves fluidly, Water rising from the innocent looking vases and wrapping around the old man's neck threateningly.

Kai grabbed the old man, picking him up by his robe and pinning him against the wall, amber eyes glaring into his soul.

"I ask you again," Kai hissed. "Who are you?"

The old man blinked like he didn't have an arm against his wind pipe. He suddenly heaved in a deep breath before releasing a gust of air that threw Kai backwards and tossed Nya off balance. They hit the ground with a grunt as the old man stood proudly.

"I am Master Wu." He said pleasantly. "I believe it is only polite that you both invite me for a cup of tea."

"What do you want?" Kai glowered as Master Wu sipped his tea like everything was normal. "Money? Information? Because believe me, we have neither."

Wu promptly ignored him, instead turning to the water bender. "Your mother was a water bender named Maya, is that correct?"

Nya hesitated before smoothing over her composure and giving him the evil eye. "How do you know that?"

"And your father, Ray? He was a fire bender." Wu continued cryptically.

Kai sat up and exchanged a look with Nya. "Did you know our parents?" Nya whispered.

"Are you hiding in the fire nation because you do not wish to be recruited for Lord Garmadon's army?" The words were less of a question and more of a statement.

"Yes..." Nya said slowly. "I didn't want to be taken away and forced to destroy innocent people."

Master Wu hummed, draining his cup before placing it back in its saucer. "Do you have any more of this?"

"Enough tea!" Kai slammed his hands on the table. "What do you want?"

"I do not want anything from you, Kai. Nor Nya. However the I need you to help me with something." He set his steady gaze on the two. "I'm sure you've heard of Lord Garmadon's legendary power to harness spirit energy."

Kai nodded. "He's trying to force more water benders to help him."

"Correct. And with it he will bring chaos to all of Ninjago." Wu said gravely.

"Why is this important? What do you need us for?" Nya questioned.

"I'm about to ask you to do something very dangerous." Wu warned. "Something I never would have believed I'd need to ask of benders as young as you are. But it is crucial that I gather as much talent from people I trust as I can."

"What are you talking about?" Kai, inched back in his seat. "Are you...are you sane?"

Master Wu frowned, giving the fire bender a scolding look as his fingertip ran along the rim of his cup.

"Have you heard of The Avatar?" He whispered. As he did the candle flickered, the air seemed to pick up and Nya watched in amazement as her cup of tea rippled.

"An master bender of all four elements." Nya recited off what she knew. "But that's just a myth. There hasn't been an ear of any avatar in centuries and who knows if the ancient scripts are telling facts."

Wu's eye seemed to twinkle. "What If I told you the myths were true?"

"That would change everything." Kai breathed. "If the Avatar is still around they could help defeat Lord Garmadon!"

Wu's face crinkled into a smile. "I am in need of two bender's to help me get something very important from a school across Ninjago."

"The Darkley's School for Bad Boys."

I am seriously considering making this an actual book. As you can see I have it a very different plot instead of placing the ninjas on the roles of the gAang.

I wanted to create my own story and I think it went very well! I'm placing Garmadon in the role of a water bender because I decided he found a way to manipulate the spirit energy in a dangerous way. Wu is a airbender with a strong connection to the spirit world. I won't dive in to deep in case I end up making this into a real book but I'll probably try and finish another one of my work's before I start another book XD.
