A scroll from heaven unfolded along its way down to earth. Its long tail kept unfurling with a massive velocity. As it carpeted down, on its way teased by the fluffy clouds and mist, the words on its parchment, shone in the sun. Fate of two beings engraved in gold. Their individual sparkling threads loomed as one.
A saga that began roughly eight years ago was going to reach its final destination.
Story that hurled across sways and nays, had at last found its perfect calm.
The beginning of a journey. A start of another dazzling life....
The sky seemed to sleep in peace. Although the sun had woken up everyone from their slumber, sky and the clouds wanted to rest. They had waited long enough for this day. Them and the stars, sun and the moon, birds and the wind .... they had all witnessed the love between Sidharth and Alia.
Their initial days of denial, the first few shy episodes, mustering courage to confess their love, approval from friends, blessings of parents, fighting past their demons, sticking together through thick and thin, being separated from their home, settling abroad with Armaan, the much awaited comeback and now at last, the culmination of their union legally.
The morning had painted itself in a cozy summer mood.
According to some age old traditions, practically made to create rift between lovers as per Ranveer's word, the bride and groom are kept separated from each other until the wedding ceremony. Grudgingly enough, both of them decided to bend a little for this ritual as well. Alia stayed at her parent's home along with her girls while Sidharth and the boys took over his newly purchased farmhouse next to the coastline of Bandra.
Armaan decided to stay with his father since he wanted to be a part of Team Groom, to Alia's bewilderment and Sidharth's amusement. Apparently Ranveer had bribed the little one to join their side offering him chocolates and seeped in him the extravaganza of baraat.
"Where's my hair drier ? And my nail paint collection"
"I can't find my hair pin box "
Parineeti and Shraddha roamed around their friend's home like two ghosts ever since the breaking of dawn. They pretended to be chilled for the wedding day but at last started being more nervous than the bride herself. They threw a little girl's bachelorette previous night for the bride, her cousins, some industry-school friends and her sisters. It helped Alia to calm her nerves and enjoy some quality time with her female friends.
Last night was a blast and they thought so would be the D - day.
As soon as the King of the universe, rose up from his slumber, spreading his rays of light far and wide, both the head bridesmaid, began panicking. Of course they had a bunch of close friends to organize and make sure nothing goes wrong, but as sisters who stood for around ten years and more, they wanted their baby girl's big day to be as perfect as her love for them and their love for the couple.
"There are way too many ladies in the house, don't you think ? This was bound to happen. God, I should have accepted Ranbir and the boy's offer to stay with them" grunted Rahul, the big brother. He got a smack on his head from sister Pooja, who ran around with things for the night.
"I agree Son. Too much of the flock is quite lethal" grinned Mahesh as they hit their palms together in mockery. "Maa look they are teasing us" complaint Shaheen, feeding their pets Edward and Pika.
"Ofooo! Kya haal bana rakha hai sabne. Shaadi ka ghar hai ya zoo ?! Mahesh, please answer all these calls I've been getting since three in the morning. Rahul, go and help the boys outside and keep a tab with Harshad and everyone with the wedding arrangements. Pari, Shra, you both are responsible for Alia's entrance and the entire sticking with her throughout deal so make sure you stay calm and energized okay ?"
Taking a huge sigh, Soni glanced around the large living room flooded with frozen people, looking at her shockingly.
"Okay quit looking like a lost cow! The rest of you all, enjoyyyy" After her declaration, the loud "Lahore" blazed through the big speaker, once again. Everyone who stood spotted to hear from the female head of the home, went back to their routine almost as if nothing had ever happened. Two warm arms firmly hugged Soni from behind, resting their chin on her shoulder.
A giddy smile formed on her lips as she recognized her darling daughter's presence.
"Mummaaaa ... I love you" cooed Alia as she pecked on her mother's cheek with affection. Patting her face gently she replied "I love you too my baby. Oh wait, you have your own baby and are going to be a married woman, again! How exciting." Her words made Alia to re feel the tumbling of her stomach like waves crashing on the shore. She smiled wide and stood in that comfortable position with her mom, for a while.
"I know maa. This almost feels so surreal. I can't believe I'm getting married, although I am his legal wife by paper. We have a baby, that feeling hasn't sunken yet and right now, here we are reunited with people we love the most, ready to unite us again in love. We're so lucky maa. Thank you." Alia blinked back her tears as she gazed around the room, buzzing with her loved's ones, urging to make sure she gets the most promising memory of the year.
As the mother daughter duo catched up on their mini time together, Anushka came running down the stair towards them. Her one hand holding on to a phone while the other carried a load of tissue paper sets and few flowers.
"Aloooo, please come with me for a second. I've got something serious to be discussed" blabbered Anu in her usual jet velocity. Alia watched her carefully since she knew it was a plain lie. Anushka and serious things never went together. "Ya you go with her. Beta sab acche se hona chahiye okay" smiled her mother and took off to see what's cooking in the kitchen. Meanwhile Anushka dragged along a dazed looking Alia upstairs to her room.
Pushing in Alia to her own room, she bolted the door and grinned back at the ladies inside.
The squad girls were all present. And their other halves, grinned widely in the large laptop screen, looking at them with love.
[Alia's POV]
"What the f-"
"Don't say that! Addu is a room away from us" scolded Adi at a flabbergasted Alia, looking at everyone's knowing smile. Except her.
"Oh so this was all planned haan ? This is why you lied downstairs to maa right ? I can't believe" cried Alia, plopping herself in a bean chair, frustrated at them for violating the law. "Whaaaat ? This is so cool. I mean we all get to see each other before the big moment and Alia, it's not like your doing some crime." Ayan had a point but she still wanted to control herself and refrain from seeing her man by completing the ritual successfully.
"I know but yaaa, I wanted to do this the right way. I won't be getting married again so I wanted to partake in just any shit they tell me. Even if not meeting him makes no sense." Deepika massaged my head from behind while the girls observed me like a hawk, ready to help me in any way possible.
They had taken the bridesmaid job too seriously.
"If I tell you to run away with me, would you ?" teased Varun and I fought the urge to throw a pillow at him. "Keep dreaming." Yami fake laughed at her fiancee. "Aye why are you all huddled together ? Have you never done a video call before ?! Reveal the groom to us. We're not here to see your ugly faces" smirked Pari as the boys murmured curses, which earned them a glare from Arjun. "Where's my husband ?" I asked eager now to see his angelic face.
"Oooooh, calm down dear bride. I see your already marking the territory here. And who again was complaining about this set up ? Ya Sid, she doesn't wanna see you man. Koi nahi, tere liye tera bhai aur acchi ladki dhoondega." Ranbir's dialogue made her face go pale for a second. Wtf, she ruined their effort.
"Sorry naaa. Now shooo! Show me my baby's face" I demanded as my body sat straight in the chair, searching for his head in the screen somewhere. "Side hatt na re" entered the deep voice I woke up everyday for the past five years with. The velvet, deep baritone which still creates a trembling in my stomach and my head to go all dizzy. I laughed at his attempt to clear the men of his coast to make way into the screen.
Finally he came with his dimple flashing red. Hair wet after a shower it seems. A towel wound around his sexy neck and ....
No way in hell !
"Close your eyes" I screamed to the ladies who looked back at me in alarm. I cried again "Close right now" and they quickly cloaked their vision in fear while the men behind the screen wolfed at my reaction.
I stood up from my chair and stood right in front of the laptop to point finger at my shameless guy "YOU! How dare you come up like that ..! Have you no shame ? There are so many girls at your place and here. Tumhari shaadi hai aaj aur tumhein body show karna hai, urghh." As I face palmed myself, the boys cracked into splits. Sidharth's face grew pink especially his earlobe and I couldn't help but giggle at his plight.
His face went into a shy mode as he gave me one of his irresistible boyish sorry look. I blushed till my roots and a throat clearing made me come back to reality. "Uh Alia, can we open our eyes now. It seems your too comfortable with the situation. And chill we won't steal your man. He's like a brother" said Shraddha and I impishly gave them permission.
A deep silence later I heard a loud whistle from my room. It was Riya. "Woah there buddy, you've got some hot abs. Lucky miss." I tried to contain my blush but it eventually creeped up on my cheek like a branch. Sid's wet hair was ruffled by Rannu, making him more shy. "Okay stop this. We can't get caught by the elders. So let's quickly do the deed. Shall we ?" asked Deepika in a bossy tone and the everybody nodded at her, looking serious now while I sat on my bed confused.
"How's the mandap going ?" asked Pari.
"Great sir" saluted Adi.
"The wedding planners are doing their job right ?"
"Yes Sir"
"The baraat arrangements should be smooth"
"We know Sir"
"All of you got your outfits ready na ?"
"Absolutely Sir"
"Please behave like responsible friend's of the groom. You don't want to get zaleel in front of a whopping three hundred plus guests."
"Pleaseeee Sir" exclaimed Rannu, setting his hair in a rowdy way, offended by Anushka.
"Where's my baby ? Please take care of him guys. Don't let him wander much. Someone keep an eye on him all the time, especially in the baraat procession. He can get lost in such a wild process. Assign maybe Karan or some elder over him. Or else it'll only add to my list of worries" I sighed. A mother's stress would never end.
"Don't worry Sir. We got him, always" smiled my husband, oops, going to be husband, well who cares - My Guy !
"I am proud of us. How far have we come from irresponsible show off brats to mature, almost married individuals with an addition of a kid ! Let's pat ourselves doston. We did this." Shraddha's speech made us all beam with pride. She was so right. We were legitimate rowdy's back in our early twenties and now as we're nearing our thirties while some of the boys already crossing the mark, it swells my heart to see the way we rose, together.
The pat session went a little mad at the boy's side with them doing half wrestling on Sid's bed while the rest groaned at their childish nature which time could't dare change.
"Okay so now let's give them some room to talk before their much awaited moment. And y'all if anyone suspects, make up some good excuse and someone make sure to guard both the rooms. Chalo, now move outtttt" ordered Yami and soon enough our friends left the rooms leaving us alone, gazing at the screen with a content smile.
We stared at one another like some teenage shy couple. Too coy to speak. All of this felt new to us, it really was in a way. Like the first spring bringing in its exquisite flowers. The opening of a new wine jar. The blossoming of a little seed inside your chest, finally erupting out to become the course of strength running inside you in the form of love.
Every breath, every smile, every giggle, every shy glance .... became new.
Though we had legally joined our names together under marriage, we were now finally going to ritually complete the marriage.
"Are you nervous ?" he asked with a cute dimple popping up on his clean shaven cheek, his bright eyes looking down for a second, blushing.
Awww ! I melted some million times at the way he was behaving all of a sudden. He'll be mine legally in a matter of hours. And I so wanna scream at the top of my lungs from our balcony.
Clearing my throat, I sneakily smiled. "Kind of. And you ?"
He raised his one arm to show, a little, with his fingers. I nodded though I found our flushing situation too hilarious. I mean we were already married and had a kid. Sharam haya had already left the chat!
"All of this feel so overwhelming. Just like your dreams. Our debut, becoming thick friends, developing feelings that scared us to hell, me finally asking you out for a date, coming out clean to our friends and then the scary task of informing our parents. Everything that happened in the middle of our story. The storm and the cloud, the breeze and the shade. Making the hardest decision of leaving forever. Having our baby, coming back to our home and now, reunited with the one's we love, getting ready for our wedding."
As he left a sigh, I closed my eyes to catch a glimpse of our journey in my head. It trained like a flash, making me shake my head in disbelief, at the events that crossed our paths, that made us who we are. It was all too much. But in the end it gave us our beautiful family.
"We'll be fine na ..." he asked with a boyish grin. I looked back at him with a warm smile of my own.
"Yes sir."
"Be on time haan" he warned, trying not to give away too much of his fear. Made me giggle softly. "I'll try ... " he eyed me alarmingly. I laughed at his composure. "Just take care of my baby and make sure he reaches the mandap in one piece. I'll only join you then." A beautiful smile spread on his lips.
"I'll wait for you."
"Okay" my eyes had its own twinkle.
"Alia" he called gently in that body melting voice.
"Sidharth" I called back, making him chuckle and shake his head.
"I love you "
"I love you more."

Malhotra Farmhouse decked like a bride, sprawled lavishly across the beach shore.
Their plush backyard, facing the sea, was given the privilege to host the wedding of the decade.
Salty breeze from the water below, wafted through the air and mixed with the rich scents surrounding the farmhouse. Trees and bushes came alive with the fairy lights. The villa itself was decked from head to toe in a light frenzy. To the right of the lawn, the mandap stood with pride. Velvet red embroidered in little pastel flowers, draped the platform in its glory.
Tonight was all about love and there isn't a better way to celebrate love than the quintessential colour of being - red.
Drapes of blood red velvet material, ran above the lawn from the top of the mandap pillar. It ran along with its own streak of fairy lights. Below the red wonder, a massive seating arrangement sat awaiting the buzz of guests. Clothed in pastel pink, with red ribbon on its side, the chairs gave a soft royal touch along with the exquisite bunch of flower vases aside every row.
A red carpet streaming through its middle, ran its long stride to meet the raised mandap.
Food stalls and bar counters, aligned themselves towards extreme back of the lawn.
The backyard's strong haze to the terrific sea roaring its wave across the big boulders below, the extraordinary splendor would make one sigh in trance. Such was the beauty of their landscape and this is where the wedding would blaze to life.
It was decided upon a heart beat that this place would be the perfect venue for wedding. Although the Malhotra's and the male friends of the couple stayed at the same farmhouse before the main event, they shifted along with their outfits and necessary essentials to Sidharth's apartment in the morning itself. So that they could start their procession from his place to the venue in a better order. Meanwhile the bride along with her friends and family would reach via their vehicles later.
At Sidharth's residence, things weren't as cool it should have been.
It was past five in the evening. And they had to reach their farmhouse by around seven. Although the guests would start pouring in from six pm onwards. The family had gone wild with the rush. "Where's my joota ?! Whoever finds it please return back" yelling match had already began and so did the quest to find personal items.
Varun walked around the cozy compartment, pushing past little children, old grannies and chubby aunties. "Why couldn't we dance our way from the farmhouse itself to the backyard ? This place can't afford all of us at once" squirmed his sister in law, placing around hampers of fruits, nuts and gifts to be exchanged. "Harshad please iske baal set kar do" their son wanted to play with his friends but her mom had strictly warned him to groom first.
"Bhai, mera joota dekha ?" barged in Varun into their room which was again packed up to the hill with hampers stacked in one huge corner, pooja items, sari's thrown over the bed, open wardrobe's and a constant beeline of relatives. Harshad groaned while setting his son's stubborn hair. "Tu iske baal sahi karde, main teri life set kar doonga" his pleading face earned him a laugh from his aunties and a comb throw from his wife.
"Addu, baby where are you ? Come here na. Daadi will dress you up." Armaan loved his time with his newfound family that apparently existed in only photo frames. Therefore he found it amusing to make his dear grandparents and elders run behind him.
"Siddhuuu, beta I'll comb your hair" called an old frail voice. Sidharth who had finally caught hold of his lost phone and his son, screamed in victory. "Yas! Finally. Baby now go and let daadi dress you up okay ?" nodding at his dad, he ran out to seek for his granny. Meanwhile Sidharth's old grandmother had flew from Singapore (where she stayed with her youngest son and family) to attend her favourite grandson's wedding.
Watching his daadi walking up to him with a glorious smile, made him both smile and be scared. As a kid she used to forcefully make him and his cousins, sit in their wide courtyard, their ancestral home in Amritsar, oil massaging them. Making all their hairs glisten and shine under the crazy sun glare. It was both sticky and smelly. He hated it way too much. Even though he loved his daadi and her own weird ways of showing love.
He couldn't permit her to ruin his hair at least for today. Not when he would be getting married to his love in few hours. Their friends would laugh at him for years. Shaking his head at the nervous thoughts bombarding him, Sidharth hugged his granny, catching her of guard. She hugged him back with equal love. "Daadi have I ever told you how much you mean to me ?" he asked, still hung up around her weak little self.
"Nahi bataaya. Haina, daadi ?" walked in the mischievous Ranveer with his usual prank mood. Daadi found his friends rather too adorable. He loved Rannu the most followed by Arjun who became too sanskari all of a sudden around her. "Then please don't make my hair for today na. I beg you." His plead made her smirk and giggle loud. "Badmaash! Chal nahi karti. Jitte bhi ho tennu wadiya dikhna hai" (however be it, you should look the best)
Ranveer hugged her from behind with saucer eyes "She's sooo me bro! Can I kidnap her ?" Daadi's face turned crimson. "Itta besharam pra tennu kitte mila ?!" (where did you got such shameless brother from ?) Her question made the room break into loud guffaw.
"Hayee, tennu main love karda, bematlab karda, baahon mein aa soniyeeee ..." before an already high Ranveer could complete the song, Arjun closed his mouth with one hand, glaring at him. "Excuse me ... meri koi aukaad hai iss ghar mein ? Kya kisi ne mera joota dekha hai ? Help or I'm switching my team." A frustrated Varun sat on the floor with a single piece of footwear in his hand, dejected. Fubu smirked at his condition "We gotta save Sid's joota today and not yours. You ain't that important for tonight. Okay bye."
VD made a pout seeing which groom's mother sent her search party to fetch his lost pair.
"Maa how do I look ?" asked a perplexed groom. He had never felt this scared and confident less ever in his life. A silent gush ran across the room as all the ladies barged in to have a look at him. Sidharth looked every bit regal and handsome. His broad shoulders and his bulged muscles gave him a towering yet enriching masculine outline. His mother wiped her tears already making him groan. "Now please don't start crying. Come on, she's coming to our home. Bidaai Alia ka hai, mera nahi." That wouldn't stop her sob.
She glanced at him with so much love and awe, it made him gulp inaudibly with his own emotion flying all around the place. "Sorry beta. Bas yunhi .. You look like my baby. Beautiful and all grown up suddenly" she giggled, stroking his face fondly. They share a quick hug which suddenly shifts the atmosphere to a sad tone. "Mummy ko dekhke yeh haal hai toh biwi ko dekhke apna Sid is gonna faint !" Karan's loud comment earned him a thunderous laughter.
"Okay guys, attention please. I think it'll be perfect if we leave by now. The dancing and all the thumkas will take time especially if we're all hell bent with the ghoda system. So what are we waiting for ? Let's get him on a horse !" Sidharth had his eyes gauge out at his mentor's announcement. So they had finalized a horse instead of the car ?!
"Maa, you had promised we'll go by car" he groaned covering his face. "Blame the boys. They have decided to give you a majestic horse ride while we dance around you in stupid circles" cleared Karan, ending the discussion. The boys winked at him and ran with the pretext of being busy when in actual they wanted to run from Sid's groom swings.
At last with the help of his father and brother, the ladies and the entire groom's party were pushed out of the home to begin with the journey. An impressive band of wedding procession waited for them on the main road. Posh vehicles were parked on either side of the gathering. When the groom's side joined them, the size increased and it almost felt as if they were on some religious hike. "Bhai saab! What is this ? Teerth yatraa ?" whispered Abhishek who had just joined the group.
"Where's Sid ya ?" he asked looking around through the crazy crowd. "My friend, that tall thing you see in the air, almost as if suspended ... that's him." Ayan's explanation cracked them to fits. True to what he said, Sidharth's tall figure amidst the packed crowd, was slightly visible. The boys crawled their way towards him and at last they could see the sight of him on a horse.
"Ah! What a marvelous sight. Take his picture re, Alia would love this." Sidharth's face crumpled like a withered flower at the way everyone kept staring at him. He was way too embarrassed to pose for pictures. "Here" someone handed him Armaan, to be seated along with him on the horse. It is a cute tradition of having a male child, sit alongside the groom. "Sidharth and Alia had done poora jugaad for this wedding, don't you think ?" teased Ranbir signalling to the fact that they didn't had to search for a boy, he had his own blood, his son !
He blushed at their nonstop leg pulling and focused on his son who was clearly smitten with the entire chaos. "Daada, can we ride this ?" he asked, trying to take rein, his mouth in an o shape. "Yes baby, that's exactly why we are on top of this. I hope at least you enjoy this ride." He couldn't bring up to be joyful when it actually looked like a joke. I hope Alia doesn't sees me like this, he prayed.
Karan took up the microphone from the team and pretended to lead the procession. "Attention everyone. Uncles, Aunties, children, elders, friends, family and the horse ... oh and the boys on top." The crowd clapped and laughed at his introduction. "We have finally reached this auspicious moment where we would lead the Baraat procession to the venue. Let's stick together, no running, no pushing. Keep your hands to yourself and dance as much as you want. Nobody's gonna judge you, I promise. But Ranveer you better behave."
Ranveer showed his tongue to him while the rest seemed to enjoy his sarcasm. "And we have enough time to reach the destination. The roads have been cleared so today is our day." Snatching the mic from him, Ranveer stepped next "Aaj hamara din hai, hai ki nahi ?" he asked, getting in to his Gully boy mode. As the families chanted yes, Sid became even more restless and embarrassed in his horse seat.
"Its my day, you donkey!" he cursed under his breath.
"Okay so repeat after me everyone"
"When I say Alia, you say Amar rahe .. okay ?" The families looked at each other with a slight frown. What the hell is this dude speaking, they thought. "Guys its a slogan we made exclusively for the couple so please, co-operate" exclaimed Adi on another mic. "Same goes for Sid. When we say Sid , you say" as he began to repeat the same shit, Sidharth interrupted him loudly from behind.
"Haan haan samajh gaye."
"So are you ready ?" they asked.
"Yesssss" screamed everyone including Armaan. He thought of it as some carnival show.
"Sidharth"
"Amar rahe"
"Alia"
"Amar rahe"
"Terrific Ten"
"no thank you we're not that interested " Karan cut through their insane energy, taking back his mic, making a weird face. "Sorry for that inconvenience Sid." He eyed a face palmed groom trying to hide his face behind Armaan.
"Shall we begin the procession ?" he asked this time loud enough for the entire road to listen.
As the claps and whistles arose, the band men began their magic. Popular hindi grooving beats were played as the procession began moving. Families and friends in the front, the groom and his ride sandwiched in between with the band walking closely behind. There was also a special speaker vehicle playing out loud music alongside. The entire procession was protected by security teams specially bought for this occasion. Media vans followed them as well, hurrying to tape the entire celebration.
As the family elders began their desi dance moves, the boys started clicking selfies, some videoing the entire thing while they moved along. "Take as many pictures as you can. Ladkiyon ko bhi toh pata chale, ladke waale aa rahe hain" smirked Varun as he proceeded to send exclusive clips and selfies to their whatsapp group.
"Mere bhai ki shaadi hai, aaj mere bhai ki shaadi hai" sang the boys as they updated their instagram stories with all of them, hand in hand.
Upon request, the music changed into the ever green wild song - Taare gin gin. This time the boys took over the centre, creating a huge circle with the horse and the groom in the middle. As the music took over its reign over Team Groom, the energy in the air multiplied. The boys grooved their best to the iconic song . Sidharth couldn't help but cheer for them and clap.
His face glowed under the light shade of sun. His eyes twinkled with the promise of a brighter tomorrow.
As he watched his family and friends enjoy themselves and dance without any worries, his heart leaped out of his chest with the amount of joy fluttering within him.
This is what they needed. Their families rejoicing in their celebration of love.
Unapologetic and pure.
His soul longed to be with his bride. His heart, his wife.
With every step they took, he desired to reach her sooner than ever. To be finally called one.

The beautiful edit is made by my dearest friend Suchita. Isn't this pretty ?
You'd see more beautiful edits in the last chapter that would hopefully come around by August end :)
The song in the media section is my current sad obsession. And it kinda fits perfectly with this almost bitter goodbye.
This would be one of my last NOTE! Ughhhhhh this is soooo hard yaaa
I've added more Hindi slangs and dialogues since those are more comical and suitable to the context. So apologizing in advance.

So bloody overwhelmed by the love you've shown for the past five years. Hanging on to the book even when I lost all hope to complete this. Pushing and encouraging me to write and update. Reminding me everyday of your love for DWB and myself. Every time I thought to scrap this journey midway, y'all held me and made me walk through those sad days. Told me to go on. To not give up. And I'm soooo grateful to have seen this day where I am this close to completing my baby book.
I've immensely grown as an author, thanks to DWB. This book was my teacher. I owe my everything as a writer to this journey and all of you, my dearest babies who read and appreciated my work. Know that I'll always stay grateful.
