Trial 16: Three's A Crowd - Ray's POV
The arrow flew with a twang as it sailed its way to the target. Tearing its way through Ray's scarred shoulder.
"Ahh!" I cried.
"Ray?! Ray no!" Joe screamed in shock.
"What did I say? Hunters are always ready for battle! And don't you forget it!" Pamela taunted viciously.
"Enough of you spewing nonsense! You just shot my friend! That's all I see! And I don't know much about you Hunters, but I don't go around shooting people for target practice! Let alone someone innocent and unarmed." Joe
Once Joe sent a snarl her way, he quickly turned his attention to Ray. Crouching down towards her wounded figure.
"Ray! Talk to me Ray! Are you okay?" Joe screeched in a panic.
"I'm fine Joe, just fine. It's just a flesh wound, nothing too serious. There's only a little blood, you see?" Ray assured while wincing in pain.
"Yeah right you're fine! You're bleeding 'only just a little'. Well, a little is looking like a lot! But we can't take it out because the wound will bleed more. Ray, can you stand?" Joe asked in concern.
"Yeah sure just let me ge--"
But just as Ray was making it to her feet, she felt a wave of pain wash over her open arm. Causing her to fall back down into faded bloody grass.
"Gosh, what did I tell you? Just lay down for a while, and I'll figure this out." Joe scolded.
"Uh, you told me to stand! But it looks like I can't because I'm kinda injured right now! And there's no way I can't just kick back while you figure things out, when there's a crazy lady ready to shoot us any moment now!" Ray ranted endlessly.
"Ok that might be true. But still I–"
"I hate to break up the happy couple here, but you know that I'm the one armed here right?" Pamela chimed in, with her next arrow ready to be let loose.
"Oh yeah, very aware." Ray replied with a small smirk.
"Yes, you're very much armed and dangerous. So, let's get the heck outta here!" Joe screamed.
"No wait! Get back here!" Pamela shrieked in anger, as she ran towards us.
However, it was already too late. Once Joe said those words, he grabbed me, focused the energy into the palm of his hand, then transported us both away. Far away. Just in the nick of time to escape the Hunter's lethal rage. When he opened his eyes, Joe saw a town full of people and shops galore! He almost seemed to shake with excitement at the wonderful sight of safety. However, he forgot that they were outsiders in this town. And I did not look like I was ready to see the light of day.
As excited as he was, I couldn't help but notice the tiredness of his nodding head. It seems that Joe had used up his powers, and its usage had finally gotten the best of him. Unfortunately, he wasn't the only one feeling tired. Getting shot by a flying arrow doesn't bind too well on my scarred body. Let alone keep my eyes open. I haven't a clue where we've gone off to, but wherever we are, I'm glad that we made it out alive.
Joe snapped out of his wowed mantra, ripped a piece of his shirt off, and wrapped it around my bleeding wound. Once he was done, he sludged my unharmed arm over his shoulders, then trudged through the street. Tugging and twisting his head over and over, aimlessly looking for someone to help.
The minute that Joe found a doctor willing to treat me, I had finally started to lose consciousness. Black dots painted my vision as I began to close my eyes. This seems like a nice place. A safe place. But knowing the two of us, I doubt that comfy feeling will last for long.
