Trial 14: Run Away, Far Away - Ashes POV

"Where am I? Did we make it in time? My mind feels hazy somehow. I really hope we...wait we? Ok, calm down! Calm down and think. What do I remember? Hmmm let's see..." I rambled, trying to put everything together.

I was working with Robert like always, trying to scout out the area. Then, all of a sudden, I heard this booming sound out in the distance. The fear in his eyes shook me to the core. Then out of nowhere, Robert started running without looking back. He kept yelling "Run! Run Pamela, they're coming!" and that's when it all went south. It was a mix between a growl and a whine, but the minute I looked behind me, I instantly regretted it.

I'd seen my fair share of Helma in my day, but this one really takes the cake! I didn't waste any time gawking at the large creature, and started running in the opposite direction. I sprinted as fast as I could, in an attempt to evade the monster's clutches. But just as I was finally starting to escape from the Helma, I began to lose sight of my teammate. I tried to catch up with him, but he was much too fast for me to chase. And it didn't help that my main motivator behind me was not letting up.

The Helma was right on my tail, and my legs were getting tired, but I was not about to get caught by the likes of a Helma. So, I picked up the pace and bolted away, as I tried to create some distance in between us. I kept running until I found the perfect place to corner the foul beast. I slowed down a bit in a frantic attempt to lure it away somewhere. While I played the part as the perfect bait. My plan was full proof once I caught a glance of two twisted trees with a small gap in between, with just enough space to slip through the crack. But not enough space for a Helma to get through. I waved my hands in the air like a madman, trying to catch its attention.

"Yoohoo Helma! Over here, ya bush on legs! Try and get me now!" I yelled, sticking out my tongue.

Thankfully, the Helma snarled at me and took the bait. Running directly at me as I continued to taunt it endlessly. The foul creature was just inches away from me, until I blew my last raspberry, then threw myself out of the way. Causing the Helma to crash face-first into the twisted trees, still snarling at me once more. The monster yelped and thrashed its body around, desperately trying to set itself free, but with little to no luck. It seemed to be stuck in those trees for good.

I threw my hands in the air with glee, then kicked my way back up. I had successfully defeated the monster, and kept myself safe! No thanks to that deserter Robert anyway. So once that was done, I dusted myself off, then walked off alone. Hoping to find something in these woods that weren't itching to kill me. Or maybe I can find someone like me! Someone nice and capable, not wild and bloodthirsty.

"So much for a loyal teammate. What happened to 'we gotta stick together' and "I got your back"? The only thing I got was this Helma chasing after me! Good to see that somebody is here to stay." I whined irritably.

As I walked through the darkness of the woods, the winds howled in the distance. It seemed that night was drawing near, so I needed to get to shelter. I tried to find a ditch to lay in, but there were none big enough for a human. So with a huff and a sigh, I started to climb the nearest tree, only to be interrupted by the whooshing of rushing water.

"No way, I think I found something!" I exclaimed in shock.

I uncurled my hands from the bark of the tree, then slowly approached the sound of the running water. As I got closer and closer, I started to worry that I was walking into a trap, but once I took my final step, I saw something that I hadn't seen before: paradise.
