Schizophrenia Essay
Schizophrenia is the life on a threshold of fantasy and reality. You sometimes can't tell what distinguishes reality. Living in it is like living on a bridge between what's real and what's not— and you can never leave that bridge. Your brain traps you like a fly in a cup, and slowly drowns you. That's if you don't get help. Getting help is tricky— how can you know the people in reality are there to help you? How do you know if they're not just conspiring with the voices that have trapped you in that cup? Your journey is a lost cause, forgotten. Some people give up and stop fighting themselves. Because the voices are there for a reason, right?
You see things normal people cannot see, hear and smell what they can't sense, and live through a much different life than what meets the eye. Take an ordinary everyman who has never heard of the illness before and place him in a supermarket. A delusion-experiencing schizophrenic is beside him, squeezing cantaloupes for his children who crave the fruit— the everyman looks at him, selecting a butternut squash for his dinner, wondering why this man has been whispering random things under his breath.
He wonders with a smirk— does he think he can talk to ghosts?
