Fear

    "Help!" I wailed.

"Don't worry, we're calling 911!" My dad called from below.

I was suspended ten feet above ground level, with no recollection of how I got up there. All I could think of if I was going to make it out alive. Occasionally, a train rattled the pillar I was on, reminding me of any instantaneous death that could occur. Then, I heard the sirens.

The policeman was yelling like a madman for me to come down, waving his black gun around. At last, a man pulled up a ladder for me to come down, and that same madman pointed his gun towards me.

"Now stay in that spot!" He ordered, spit flying in my eye.

I nodded, my hands flying upwards. With a sense of doom, I stood on the designated spot. My heart was beating faster than a runner's. The madman pulled his gun to my forehead, the cold metal barrel scraping against my pores. He wouldn't dare to shoot. He turned towards my family, filled with a frightened gaze.

"Now if any of you tries to free her, she dies," He snapped.

I refused to let fear control me. I didn't know if I was fighting or fleeing this situation, instead I put on my typical stoic expression. I nodded towards my family, accepting any fate. The metal barrel was scraping even more, and I could see the crowd of packed police officers.

"I'm suing the NYPD!" My dad roared. "You let her go you bastard!"

The barrel dug some more, as the madman started to dig into my scalp with his dirty fingernails. "She dies if you sue. She's going to jail and that's final."

"Just let it go," I said to make sure the situation doesn't escalate. It was breathless, automatic. I knew my eyes were glazed with the same feature as staring at a math board.

The madman finally let me go, pushing me to the ground beforehand. The other police officers grabbed me gently compared to the madman. They forced me into the backseat of their car, and drove me to the station.

    "Where is she?"

The girl's eyes were glazed with a clear light. "She's in jail."

"Jail?!" His eyes widened. "She doesn't strike me as the troublemaker type."

She sighed, flopping her stomach on the bed. "You're right, she's not. A stupid police officer arrested her for no reason whatsoever."

"Have you questioned the officer's legitimacy? Like, what if that guy was some mentally insane person or something?"

"He was most definitely a police officer. Took my sis for getting stuck on a pillar."

He was close to flipping on his head. "Why?"

"She's a paper airplane enthusiast. She was flying one of her little cardboard planes that she designed, and it got stuck in the pillar. So, she got stuck. And then that idiot officer pulled a freaking gun to her forehead!"

    His eyes dilated. "Too far!"

"I know, what an idiot. He didn't have much love as a kid."

    "Well come on, let's go."

    "Where are we going?"

    "Busting your sister out, duh."
