Its all a Game Until its Not
The was a lot of running. Not just running, but parkour and hiding type of running. The whole time there was a officer chasing me (to be clear it was "me" as in my point of view, but I think the girl was physically someone else.)
I never got a clear reason why she/I was being chased, but I don't think it was because of a crime (not what we think of as a crime anyway). It's more likely that she either A) was being hunted because of something about herself she couldn't control, like ethnicity or a disability (couldn't tell about either but if it was a disability it wasn't major), or B) was part of an illegal rebel group or something similar. Personally I think it was the ladder, but there was no indication of one.
Both the girl and the officer (blond male) were young, college age, and the shocking thing was they seemed to be very close. I suspect they were a couple before the organization started hunting her. The officer seemed to be the only one on the case, which was strange, but dream logic. They didn't act so much as hunter and prey; more like middle schoolers playing an intense game of Hide 'n Seek + Tag. Neither would draw a weapon on the other (though I don't think she had one) and they were almost constantly laughing.
The Chase started in a large ship on at the top and they worked their way down. Or maybe it was the bottom and they worked their way up. I don't remember how they got from floor to floor. The chase mainly consisted of finding and sprinting between elaborate hiding places until her found her. When he found her there would be a brief "Gotcha" moment before she would manage to get away. He would just roll his eyes and smile at her.
Eventually she dove into the water and got up onto the dock, he followed. They ran through the forest briefly, until they came across this building (Some how they jumped down onto the top of the building, idk) and went inside through the stairwell. The inside of the building was a school, and some rooms were in use and some weren't. They wouldn't disrupt the classes, but any (mostly) empty room with an open door was fair play. Occasionally they would run in on a parent teacher conference, but they would mostly be ignored by anyone they came across.
From this point there was a time skip. Maybe it was a week, maybe it was a year. Idk.
Maybe it was a holiday or maybe she found a loop hole that gave her a 24hr head start, but he had stopped chasing her. Instead of using that time to actually get a full head start, like any other person running for their life would do, she she chose to spend some quality non-chase time with the officer, who was definitely her lover. There was another short time skip to the next morning. They had been in bed together. While he was still sleeping she realized she still had a few hours left and got her head start, leaving him a note. The note said something almond the lines of "I love you, but I fear them more. It's not that I'm scared of death, but that I'm scared of what I'll leave behind." So basically she didn't want him to be the one to lead her to her death because she knew what that would do to him.
Another time skip! This one was about 3 months later...
(Please note that I was slowly becoming aware that I was dreaming at this point and writer me may have taken over. Also, I was no longer the girl)
Ever since her head start she had become more desperate to avoid getting caught. That didn't mean it got harder to catch her, just harder to find her. Physically being slower that normal was one thing that had happened to her. But he finally did it, he caught her.
He caught her in an old train yard. Her legs had finally given up on her and she just sort of... collapsed next to an old metal crate, the red paint chipping off. He rushed over, she clearly wasn't going anywhere, but that's not why he was worried. She had begun crying. Now that he thought about it, there hadn't been any laughing recently.
"Hey," he said taking out the hand cuffs, "You were easier to catch this time. What's wrong?" She let out a sob. "I can't do this anymore," she cried, folding in on her self. "I've got to take you in," he said, reaching out to chuff her. He too was holding back tears, for he realized what this meant. He chuffed her hands over her head and shakily grabbed his walkie-talkie. "This is Officer ————-, I've got-"
"Please don't do this! They'll kill us!" she sobbed, cutting him off. He stopped and looked at her. "You mean they'll kill you," he said shakily. She shook her head, "No I mean us."
"Officer ———-" the talkie said, "What's going on?" They both only barely acknowledged it. "False alarm," the officer said into the talkie, "Just some kids playing a prank. I'll handle it." He shut off the talkie and crouched down beside her, in locking the chuffs.
"I don't want to die," she whispered, almost out of tears. He placed a comforting arm around her, but didn't say anything. What was there to say? "They'll kill me. And they'll kill my baby just because it mine."
I woke up at this point, which was rather disappointing because I didn't get to see his reaction, but yeah.
