(y/n), can we talk?
I'm working at the
moment.
Give me 2 hours.
Aidan sighs as he flops back on his bed, running his hands through his hair. It was the same response he would get for most of the time he tried to talk to (y/n). It's been two months in and they hadn't been able to talk to each other as much as they would like. Texts dwindled to only a few words to each other every other week and he hated it.
He waited those two hours and sent a message if he could call and he gets a thumbs up.
"Hey (y/n)."
"Hey, what's up?"
"You're on a train right?"
"Yeah, didn't want to call your name out by accident."
"Then why are you whispering."
"Oh right. Yeah, so how's it going?"
"Not much. I wanted to see how you're doing. We're not talking as much as we used to..."
"I know... I'm just busy. I'm working as much as I can before my uni starts. I'm pretty sure you're busy as well."
"Sure but still..."
"I'm sorry, I... I just don't know when to message you. I don't want to bother you and I don't want to annoy you with boring aspects of my life ya know."
"You're not boring. I would love to hear about your day."
"Really?"
"Yeah... but there's something else I wanted to talk to you about. What do you think... about coming over again?"
"You know I can't. I can't just slack off work to go overseas for a whole month. I need to work."
"I know but-"
"-as much as I would love to, I don't want to get in trouble with my manager. Only reason I could stay that month with you was cause they were shut for the Christmas break. Early in November which is odd yeah, but that's the only time."
Aidan sighs sadly, ruffling his hair.
"It's just costly... the plane ticket alone. I have to work to pay off last time and save up for the next one if I'm going to visit you. But that might take a couple months."
"I understand."
"I'm sorry."
"No that's ok. Forget about it. What did you do today?"
Aidan asks, trying to push down his emotions. He couldn't express his feelings over the phone, he needed to tell (y/n) in person. That's why he was hoping she could visit him but they both were too busy. He would absolutely take a plane to go see her but he was swamped with work for The Umbrella Academy.
Distance truly makes the heart grow fonder.
~~~~~~~~
(y/n) groans softly when she hears her phone get a notification, reaching over to silence her phone and put it back on Do Not Disturb but she was stuck staring at her phone. She blinks away the haziness and quickly sits up seeing the email.
"What did he do!?" she gasps out, opening the email and scanning over it to see flight tickets to Seattle. She switches to call Aidan and he picks up the phone with a lazy hello.
"What the fucks is with the flight tickets!?"
He hears her screech over the phone and he chuckles in amusement, hearing a thud that maybe she accidentally fell out of bed.
"Ah, you got the tickets?"
"Tickets!? Of course, I got them! Get them refunded idiot!"
"Nope."
"JACKASS THE FLIGHT IS FOR THIS LATE EVENING TODAY!"
"Sooner you get here the better!"
"Aidan I have work!"
"No, you don't. I called to ask them if there are any events coming up and they said they were closed for a couple of weeks for renovations."
Aidan smirks in victory hearing her breath hitch over the phone. (y/n) blushes heavily at the thought that he actually checked to see when she was free just so she could see him, and bought her tickets for that fact too! She did miss him, really but this was a bit much.
"Aidan, these tickets are expensive! You shouldn't buy them like this out of the blue!"
"I can and I will. So you coming over or what?"
She knew he wouldn't get a refund and she didn't want him to waste his money like this so she sighs in defeat, fighting back the excited smile on her face. She missed Seattle, it was such a beautiful place and she was glad to go and visit again.
"Yes, I'm coming. Next time, give me a day's notice so I CAN PACK! Oh my god, what do I tell my mum!?"
"So there's going to be a next time?"
Aidan smirks, enjoying how flustered (y/n) got as she groans in frustration.
"Shut up! I'm going to go pack and try to convince my mum to let me go ok! Talk later!"
"Ok bye (y/n)!"
Aidan smiles at his phone when the call ends, running out of his room to tell his parents. "(y/n)'s coming over again!"
"That's lovely Aidan. How long is she staying?"
"A couple weeks. Is that ok?"
"She's welcome here anytime." his father nods, his mother grinning at her husband knowing how excited her son was to see his friend.
"When is she coming over dear?"
"Tomorrow morning around seven in the morning. It's a seventeen-hour flight."
"Let's get ready for her then."
Aidan nods, running off to clean up his room despite it being only two in the afternoon. He was just way too excited to see (y/n) again.
~~~~~~~~
Aidan tries to look over the crowd of heads to find (y/n), making sure to keep his disguise on as he tried to look for her. He was there seven on the dot, standing near her gate and his smile widens when he sees her walk out in her long hoodie. She was bundled up in warm clothes to prevent being cold from the freezing weather since it was still February. He jogs up to her and taps her shoulder making her jump.
"Hi!" she whispers excitedly, still tired and he greets her back happily. He wanted to hug her so badly but he didn't push her comfort zone.
Her friend had messaged him on Instagram and he made the plan to surprise (y/n) with Seattle tickets with her friend, asking her so many questions about the girl in front of him. Her friend had mentioned that she wasn't a hugger and that it takes a while for her to be comfortable enough to hug someone unless they're the ones to initiate it, but he didn't want to make her uncomfortable around him.
"Hey (y/n)! Let me help you with those." Aidan was surprised to see that there wasn't as much luggage like he thought there would be.
"I didn't have enough time to get out all the winter stuff buried away in my boxes. I'm not sure if I have enough winter clothes for this weather..."
"We can go shopping and get some for you."
"Don't you dare!" she hisses lowly, running after him as he carries some of her bags and she carries the rest.
"Let's go, you must be tired."
As soon as they stepped out, (y/n) blurted out every curse she knew. "How the fuck is this weather so fucking cold!? What the fuck is this shit!? That's it! I'm gonna get sick!" Aidan bursts out laughing, gently pulling her with him and helping her into the warm car his dad had kept going. "Thanks for picking me up Mr. Gallagher."
"Call me Rob kid. A pleasure to have you stay with us. Aidan couldn't stop talking about the surprise he was going to pull for you." the brunette flushes and complains to his dad as he gets in after putting the luggage in the trunk. The car drives off and he looks over at his... she wasn't a friend to him anymore... she felt more than that.
Aidan hides his blush as (y/n) smiles at him, adoring how cute she looks all bundled up in her scarf, beanie and hoodie. Her nose and cheeks were red from the cold, shivering lightly and he pulled a blanket around her to keep her warm. She was not used to this cold after being adapted to the heat of Australia. She flushes as when he did that, going rigid from how close he was and her face slowly turns pink while she tried to calm down her racing heart. Everyone managed to get home safely, the Gallagher men taking the luggage inside the house.
"Your old room is just as we left it. Same old same old." Aidan grins, helping (y/n) take her stuff into the room. She smiles when she saw some of her stuff still in there since she couldn't take everything back home, seeing the little trinkets set up on the shelf and the plushies Aidan won for her at the carnival on her bed.
"You got a lamp too. You didn't have to." she mumbles out.
"You should've told us you can't sleep in the dark. I would've gotten it for you sooner." he frowns at her remembering how he found out she wasn't getting proper sleep.
"It's embarrassing to admit I can't sleep without a light!"
"It's cute, not embarrassing." Aidan's cheeks flare at the confession but he pushes through and puts the bag down like it was nothing. (y/n) however, she felt like she was going to combust. "Do you want to do the shopping tomorrow?"
"I'll see what I have. If I have enough winter stuff we don't need to-"
"-nonsense, let's go shopping tomorrow anyway!"
"Aidan." (y/n) warns him and he just grins at her.
"(y/n)... It'll be fun! I'll buy whatever you want."
"No, you won't! I'm not stepping out of this house if you do that."
"Ok, I won't! Come on (y/n)!" he begs her and she sighs in defeat.
"...Fine, let's go tomorrow..."
"Yes!" he hides the crossed fingers behind his back, running out of the room with a triumphant smile.
"That boy is going to be the death of me I swear to god." she chuckles lightly while shaking her head, deciding to unpack later and taking a shower to freshen up first.
Aidan was helping his mum cook downstairs after he changed into his pjs, waiting for (y/n) to come down when she was ready. He made her some hot chocolate and sets them on the counter as soon as he sees her walk down the stairs.
"Feeling better?" he asks her and she nods, feeling sleepy from the jetlag. It would be four in the morning back home for her. "Eat something and you can take a nap."
"I'm not hungry..." he narrows his eyes at her and she sighs in defeat. "Only a little." he smiles and sets down a plate for her as he settles down next to her so they could eat together. They talked about what happened the last few days and what they had been up to.
"I got the script for the new season."
"No way! Oh my god, you guys are filming now!?"
"Not now, in a couple of weeks."
"But I'm with you... Aidan what did you do." (y/n) scrambles to take her phone out to check the ticket.
"How do you feel about meeting the cast?" Aidan coughs lightly when she wacks his arm in shock.
"YOU BOOKED TICKETS FOR ME TO GO TO TORONTO WITH YOU!?"
"Yes, it's right there in the details (y/n)." he snickers, pointing out the email.
"I don't know whether to throttle you cause you're crazy or just crawl into a ball of disbelief."
"Neither would be preferred."
"I can't believe you did this!"
"Believe it! We have the next 10 days to ourselves to do whatever you want and then we're going to Toronto!"
"You-what do I say to your son Mrs. Gallagher?" (y/n) looks to Aidan's mother while pointing at the boy with her thumb, his mother chuckling at the two.
"Just go along with it dear. Also, call me Lauren."
"You're crazy Aidan Gallagher." the girl muses and he looks at her with a large smile.
The two finish eating and drink their hot chocolate while watching a movie together on the couch, huddled beneath a blanket. The brunette looks over to talk to his 'friend' to see that she had fallen asleep next to him, slowly moving her head to lay on his shoulder comfortably to let her take a nap.
I'm crazy about you (y/n).
