Aidan looks over the spam of messages he was receiving from (y/n), smiling at the flurry of emotions mood shifts from excitement, to nervousness, to terror and relief.
She messages him about how excited she was to leave Australia, packing her luggage weeks in advance. Nervous when she got to the airport and had to go through security and just travelled for the first time out of her home with her friend. Terror to flying on a plane and begging not to die on the trip. Here messages had gone silent after that but she immediately messages him again when they landed and she expressed her utter relief of being alive.
My friend and I are
heading to our hotel
now to just settle in and
everything. It's so
different hear. Everyone
is completely different.
Are you catching an uber?
Yeah
Make sure they don't
turn their counter off!
That's how they scam
you!
Omg! Thank you!
After you're settled in, do
you want to come over?
Aidan hesitates to send that last message, closing his eyes and sending it. He watches the three dots appear and disappear multiple times, nervousness eating him up inside.
"What did you do!?" He gasps out, throwing his phone on the bed but rushes to grab it when he hears her ringtone.
Can we do it tomorrow??
I'm pretty wiped
Yeah! Tomorrow sounds
good.
What time??
Come around for lunch.
At 1.
Ok sounds like a plan!
My friend isn't coming,
she might sleep in
tomorrow
That's ok. But if she's up
for it, she can come over
as well tomorrow.
I'll let her know
I'm gonna catch some
sleep
I didn't think jetlag was
going to hit this hard
Aidan smiles warmly, buzzing at the fact that (y/n) was so close now.
Catch up on your sleep
and settle in.
I'll see you tomorrow.
Goodnight!
Haha, goodnight (y/n).
He drops back on his bed, a wide smile on his face until it falters. "She's coming over tomorrow... (y/n) is coming over tomorrow!" he yells out, running out of his room to tell his parents.
"What's with the yelling?" his mother asks with confusion as he jitters on the spot.
"I have a friend coming over for lunch tomorrow."
"Well, that's fine dear-"
"-what do I do? Like what can I show her? Do we go for a drive or take a walk? Do I show her around Seattle or-"
"-Aidan, easy." his father chuckles seeing how nervous he was. "Hang around in your room, show her around and maybe go for a walk tomorrow. Make it simple and sweet."
"Thanks, dad!"
On the other end, (y/n) was freaking out to her friend, shaking her shoulders. "What the fuck do I do!? He asked me over to his house tomorrow! I've never done this before!"
"You're friends right? Then treat it as going over to hang out with a friend. Like we do."
"I need to bring something! I can't go over empty-handed!"
"(y/n) calm down. Everything is ok. You'll be fine. You guys are cute so I'm not worried about anything bad happening. We can go to the shops tomorrow morning, buy some flowers and some vegan cake maybe."
"WHAT DO I WEAR!?"
"Are you trying to impress him?" (y/n)'s friend raises a brow, a smirk growing on her face when she doesn't answer her. "You are!"
"I have to look presentable! His parents are going to be there!"
"Just wear something simple. Something you can wear outdoors if you want to go for a walk."
"Ok..."
~~~~~~~~
Hey, what's your
address again?
Aidan tries to calm down his racing heart as he types away on his phone, sending the address of his home to (y/n).
Cool. I'll be there in a
few minutes
The brunette was about to combust, looking around his room one more time to make sure it was all clean and presentable. He spent the morning cleaning the house as well just in case while his mother and father made everyone lunch. The few minutes of waiting felt like hours until he heard got another message.
Hey, can you come
outside?? I don't know if
I got the right house
"She's here..." Aidan takes in a deep breath, telling his parents that (y/n) was here as he runs out to the front door. He fixes his appearance once more, opening the door and walking out into the clearing to find a girl looking around in confusion. "(y/n)!" he calls out to her and he chuckles when she jumps, turning to face him with a sheepish smile. They walk up to each other, meeting halfway.
"Hey."
"Got here alright?"
"Yeah." she nods, the two falling silent again and Aidan leads (y/n) into his home. He holds her flowers and cake as she takes her shoes off, setting them outside before walking into his home. He catches her before she could slip on her socks but she assures him that she was ok.
"You must be (y/n). My son has told me so much about you." Aidan's mother greets the girl who immediately goes shy, hiding behind the brunette and he silently coos at how adorable she was.
"She gets nervous around new people." he tells his mother quietly.
"I-uh... I got some flowers and cake... I tried to make sure it was vegan too but I'm not sure..." (y/n) whispers almost inaudible.
"Thank you! We can all have a slice after lunch!" Aidan's mother takes the flowers and cake, leaning down to her son to whisper to him. "She's a peach Aidan." he flushes, gently taking (y/n) away.
"Do you need anything? Water, juice?"
"Nah I got my own. I'm ok." she takes out her bottle of water she takes with her everywhere and the brunette chuckles knowing she was always organised.
"Let me show you around the place then. We recently moved houses so it might be a bit of a mess"
"That's ok. Just proof that people live here."
Huh, I like that.
He leads her around the house, showing her where everything was while apologising for the mess. "So this is where I record. At the end of this hallway." he opens the door to his recording room, trying to hide the cords that he was yet to put away but she just chuckles. "Sorry for the mess. I was planning to do a room tour and at the same time clean."
"Hey smart, two birds with one stone." He lets her admire his live set-up and his equipment storage room with all his guitar stuff and amps.
"So just out here is where the bedrooms are." They walk away to the doors next to the hallway, opening the first door near his recording room. "This is my room." he opens his door, his heart flipping seeing the awe in her eyes as she walks in.
"Your room is very aesthetic. It's so cool!" Aidan lets (y/n) walk in, the tips of his ears turning pink at how pretty she looked. Especially more when she turns to smile at him. "Look at your Five figures!" she gasps, leaning down to look at them standing on his shelf. "I have the first two season pop figures for Five. I'm still mad they're not making a third for the third season of Umbrella Academy."
"Do you collect figures?"
"Kind of. I collect figures of the characters I love the most. Which is Five Hargreeves and Loki."
"Loki?" Aidan chuckles.
"I have a type ok." (y/n) muses.
"The psycho type apparently." the brunette jokes and she rolls her eyes playfully, admiring the string of fairy lights strung up in the corners of the room and one of his acoustic guitars displayed elegantly.
"Wow..." she looks at the guitar, knowing not to touch anything since it was common sense to not touch what isn't yours. "You game too!?" she gasps, looking at the PlayStation and Xbox. "Oh, I missed playing Halo!"
"You used to play Halo!?"
"Like years ago. My dad had a friend whose son recently got the game and every time we go over, I would play it with him."
"Do you have any console at home?" Aidan asks and (y/n) shakes her head.
"Not that I play with anymore. I have the Wii, an old PSP and a couple DS'. I just grew out of gaming. Didn't have the time for it."
"Want to have a round then?" the brunette asks, excited to play with her as he sets up the box with two controllers.
"I'm going to be shit at this. I need to relearn how everything works."
"That's ok. Just have fun." the two sit down on the couch, settled down next to each other. "Sit up, be as comfortable as you want." Aidan notices (y/n) shuffling and she flushes in embarrassment before taking her bag off and setting it down on the floor, moving to sit cross-legged on the couch. He leaned over and showed her how to use the controls and how to move her character, explaining what each button does as she listens to him. He was not ready for how competitive she got once she got used to the controls.
Holy shit she's good.
Aidan gaped seeing (y/n) go on a full-on massacre, cheering on loudly and yelling out with adrenaline as she destroys the aliens. "Take that!"
"Leave some for me!" he gasps, trying to get back into the game.
"Sorry!" the two game together, playing different games and switching every now and then until the parents called out for lunch. "Oh, I've been sitting down for so long." (y/n) stretches and Aidan chuckles as he puts everything away, turning off the monitor.
"Wanna go for a walk after lunch?"
"Yeah, sure!" he grins happily, taking her out to the dining table.
"I hope you're ok with vegan food dear." his mother asks and she nods.
"I'm down to try anything!" there was a sense of relief for the family, everyone sitting down to eat. Aidan showed (y/n) what was what and she tried everything as much as she could.
"Everything was delicious Mr and Mrs Gallagher. Thank you!"
"No problem dear."
"So (y/n), how long are you visiting Seattle?" Aidan's father asks.
"Um, maybe a couple weeks? Not too long, unfortunately. My friend is returning back home after the first week."
"So it's only going to be you here staying here?" Aidan looks at (y/n) with concern.
"I was thinking of going back with her too since it might be a little hard to find another hotel after she's gone... I'm not sure."
"You can stay with us. Stay for a month even. As long as you want. Aidan can show you around as well!" his mother suggests and the two flush.
"No, that's ok. I don't want to intrude-"
"-you're not intruding kid. It's completely fine with us." his father says. (y/n) looks to Aidan who was waiting for her answer, him shrugging as well but deep down he was hoping she would say yes. "We'll pay for your return ticket home too."
"Oh no, that's too much. You don't need to do that."
"Will you stay (y/n)?" Aidan asks and her cheeks flare red at how softly he asked her.
"I... if it's ok with you..." his heart jumps happily and a beaming smile grows on his face.
"We would love to host you!" he explains in excitement. "I can show you around Seattle, my favourite coffee shops and stores!"
"Are you sure? What about the paparazzi?" Aidan's smile quickly deflates, forgetting about that. He didn't want (y/n) to be thrown into the wild stardom life, there was no way he wanted to jeopardise her.
"We can disguises. They usually help."
"Ok. Sounds good. Can't wait then!"
