"Are you studying?" the girl asks Aidan.

"Yeah, but homeschooled to pursue my higher studies. It's more flexible considering filming and my music career. But I'm on break at the moment too."

"That's cool! Are you travelling anywhere else?" Aidan shakes his head, brushing back his long hair.

"Just staying here for a couple of weeks and then heading back home."

"Just here to relax I get it." the girl relaxes in her chair to imitate that before sitting up straight. "Unlucky for me though, I'll be working. Getting paid." she rubs her fingers making cha-ching sounds and Aidan chuckles at that.

"Where do you work."

"Well, I currently have two jobs. Might get a third."

"Three jobs!?" he gasps, wondering how on earth this girl is able to have time for herself.

"Yep! One I work at a government-owned events company. Focused on exhibitions, conventions and concerts. But I work there in Food and beverage, unfortunately. Second, I work at an events and security company where thankfully I am in the events team but the jackass of a job doesn't give me shifts! And the third, I'll be working at the airport in security with a friend of mine."

"Damn..." Aidan couldn't wrap his head around all that. It just sounded like a lot.

"It's not crazy, it's really flexible. I get to choose the shifts I want to work for. Any day, any time." before Aidan could ask more, the girl in front of him gasps when she turns her head. "Found her!"

Oh, her friend.

"Where is she?" the girl points to her friend who was on the dance floor making out with a guy. "Does she know him?" Aidan winces.

"Nope. She comes to clubs and makes out with random guys." the girl shrugs like it was normal and Aidan furrows his brows in concern.

Why would her friend leave her alone like this?

"It's ok, I don't mind-well maybe I do. I just keep an eye on her and make sure she's okay."

"What's your name?" Aidan asks, finally getting that question in that he had been dying to ask.

"Oh! It's (y/n)."

"Well (y/n). Nice to meet you."

"It's nice to meet you too Aidan Gallagher. I didn't butcher your name, right? Sometimes I have a weird accent." the brunette laughs heartily, shaking his head.

"No, that was completely fine." he smiles at her, the two talking for what felt like hours until the girl felt better and more sober.

"Do you want a drink-" (y/n) gets cut off by the guy her friend was making out with before, tapping her shoulder and the two sitting at the table look up at him.

"Uh, you're friend isn't ok."

"Shit! I keep my eye off her for a second." she mutters under her breath, quickly getting up but she stumbles on her feet again. Aidan jumps up and helps her, holding her arms gently and following her to where her friend was laying on the couch. "Girl..." (y/n) sighs in annoyance, walking up to her friend and asking how she was. Aidan stood by idly with the guy, rushing off to grab a bottle of water that the girl he was talking to asked for and passed it to her. "Thank you." she nods to him, standing up with her friend and holding her tight. "I'm sorry to cut this short."

"No, it's alright." Aidan glares at the guy who just walked off leaving the girls alone. "Do you need help?"

"We're ok. We'll call for an uber home. It was nice talking to you Aidan. I hope your stay here is as relaxing as you hope it to be." (y/n) beams at him as she walks away, the brunette waving idly with a smile.

"Goodbye (y/n)..."

Aidan sighs out, his stomach rumbling as he sat in the large meeting room with other people, his father busy listening to the speaker. As an ambassador, he had to go to conventions like this. It was important but sometimes they were long and tedious. He looks around and decides to get up to get a breather, quietly exiting the meeting room as he loosens his tie and brushes his hair back.

He was about to walk off but quickly stumbles back when one of the workers quickly pushed past him with a trolley of food. He tilts his head, recognising the same dyed hair and glasses but he couldn't tell since they were wearing a mask. He watched as they put out the hot pots of food efficiently, setting out the food on the buffet table and fixing everything out. They looked around and leaned back, groaning softly about their back before pulling down their mask.

"(y/n)!" Aidan gasps and the girl quickly looks up, a panicked look in her eyes as she looks around for someone. She shakes her head at him, pulling the empty trolley back to where she came from in the back kitchens and he follows her.

"I'm working." she says shortly. "My supervisor is around here and I can't talk." he nods in understanding, watching her walk away. He was surprised to see her again, bumping into her a second time. He waited for her and saw her coming back with equipment and more food for the other buffet table around the end. Another worker takes the trolley from her and she moves to go back to the kitchen but he stops her.

"When do you go on break?"

"I don't." he furrows his brows in concern.

That's not right.

"What time do you get off though?" She takes out a piece of paper from her pocket, checking over the schedule.

"What time does your convention end?"

"Around 5 or 5:30?"

"I finish an hour after so 6 or 6:30."

"We can talk after then?" Aidan asks and (y/n) was surprised that he wanted to talk to her. To be honest, she just wanted to go home but she could spare some time to see what he wanted to talk about.

"Yeah sure. I have to change out of my uniform. I get out from the back of the building but I'll walk around to the front of the stairs by the fountain?"

"Yeah, I can meet you there." Aidan nods with a smile and he sees (y/n) go rigid as she pulls her mask up.

"Sorry sir, the buffet is closed at the moment. It will be open in another 10 minutes." she acts professionally and Aidan bites down his laughter seeing her supervisor walk by.

"Good save." she shrugs with a smile. "Are you hungry? We have fruit." she nods to the buffet table, taking him to it.

"Anything vegan?"

"There's some salad and cucumber sandwiches. There's also stir fry with vegetables and mushrooms. Also pumpkin arancini."

"Does it get tiring, setting all this up?"

"Not really. It's ok. It's the cleaning up that's a hassle really. Shit, I shouldn't be complaining." the two chuckle softly, hiding around the corner away from anyone that would catch them slacking off. "What's this convention about?"

"The next step to help the environment. There are other ambassadors here giving their presentations and analytics of how their plans will work for certain disasters."

"That's good. I'm not one to see through meetings. They make me feel sleepy." Aidan laughs softly, agreeing with her. "Oh! Times up! Buffets open. Go get a plate before everyone gets out. The food runs out real quick." the brunette nods, going to the buffet with the girl who flips over the plates and stands by.

He was amused as she rolls her eyes, plating up and eating on a cocktail table. The two talked to each other until people filtered out of the convention rooms and (y/n) had to go back to work. Aidan watched at how diligently she worked, strolling out new batches of food every few minutes and walking around cleaning up the plates. He had to go and mingle, networking with people but he would put coffee cups in the bin as he walked around just to help her a little. The lunch buffet was over and the convention starts up again, everyone heading inside. Aidan went inside to listen for the rest of the presentations, taking notes before he checked the time on the digital board to see that it was afternoon tea.

Must be running late.

He snuck out again to see the buffet tables all cleaned and with cookies and cakes spread out on display. "This looks good." he smiles seeing (y/n) jump in fright as she sets down the cake slices.

"Yes but unfortunately not vegan." she walks over to a table that has a bowl of cookies, throwing them to Aidan and he catches them with ease. "Vegan cookies."

"Thank you." he nods to her in appreciation. He lets her work again, rolling the trolley of empty pots and equipment back to the kitchen before coming back out with the proper utensils to grab the cookies and cakes. "Lunch was very busy." he follows her around as she cleared up the leftover dirty plates and hides them in the trolley to take to the back.

"Afternoon is almost as bad. Everyone is craving something sweet to eat and we don't usually have enough." (y/n) explains, looking around before taking out a muesli bar to eat.

"Did you even have lunch?" Aidan asks with worry as she shrugs.

"Don't have time for it. I eat when I get home."

"Do they not have lunch for the employees here?"

"They do. I just don't eat it. Can't eat in the middle of working. Makes me feel sick." before Aidan could say anything else, people stream out from the convention rooms. His father comes up to him and asks if he would like to leave but he shakes his head.

"I'll stay here a little longer." he looks over at the working girl, waiting out the hours of the event until he was free to go.
