"Has anyone seen him yet?!" Two-bit yelled running up to meet the rest of us, we've only been looking for Johnny a few hours but in our small neighborhood, it's worrying we ain't found him yet.
"No! But we've looked everywhere where could he be?" answered Soda. Wait, what is he went to..? shit.
"Guys I think I might know where he went." I said quietly, everyone turned to look at me.
"Well where kid?" Dally snapped, I think he's taking this whole thing the worst. Pretty sure he blames me for it too 'cause those where the only words he's said to me all day.
"Windrexville." After hearing the name of the town Johnny and I had run of too for a few months, everyone looked about as scared as I felt. And before I knew it we were all bookin' it toward the trains.
We all pile into an empty cargo car on the nearest train, hiding ourselves behind boxes while the cops shine lights in each car. They reach ours and Two-bit falls straight onto Dally's foot.
"Ow! You lil shit!"
"Guys shut up!" whisper- yelled Soda.
The cop stop at our car and pokes his head in, I swear he looked straight into my eyes and I nearly had a heart attack. He ended up continuing to walk though he looked suspicious.

We arrived in Windrexville near 1 in the morning. Darry and Steve had stayed behind at home, so Two-bit, Dally, Sodapop and I all jumped out the train and Dally lead us up the hills toward Jay mountain. Memories of being here the last time kept coming into my head. Just thinking about all that happened made me feel sick to my stomach, but now that I was in the same town I almost lost my best friend in? All I wanted to do was run straight outta there.
"How 'bout we just stop an sleep somewhere and continue lookin' in the mornin'? I'm exhausted man." said Two-bit falling behind.
"Yeah okay good idea." agreed Soda. They all took a place under a tree, even Dally.
"No way. I'm not going to stop looking till I find him. Y'all can sleep but I gotta find Johnny." I said shoving my fists in my sweater pockets. I started walking up the hill, thinking someone was gunna try and stop me or come with me, but they were all asleep already.
The mountain air was thin as it is, but considering snow was still on the ground I was freezing cold. That wasn't gunna stop me though, this was my fault, I gotta keep goin'. I see the ruins of the burnt church come into view, I used the energy I had left to run up to it.
When I got in I was panting. I looked around, boy did it look different in here. The roof had collapsed on the floor and almost everything was turned to cold ash. All that remained really was the smell of smoke and the hard concrete floor I used to sleep on.
"Johnny? Johnny you in here?" I called out.
"Come on Johnny you've got us all worried sick! Please tell me you're okay." no answer. Damnit.
"JOHNNY! Johnny please where are you!?" I continued frantically looking around the church, opening every door and look behind every chair hoping to see Johnny Cade's shining brown eyes meet mine. I check the back steps we watched the sunsets on. My vision started to blur with tears and I felt a ball wheeling up in my throat.
"Johnny!" I yell as loud as I could. But all I couldn't hear was my heaving chest. This is all my fault! Johnny's dead. I killed him it's all my fault! I lost my best friend! I try sitting down on the stone steps but end up collapsing instead. after everything me and him went through, this can't be how it ends. My head hits the ground but I don't even care. I curl up into a ball and cry my heart out. All I want is to feel his arms around me one more time. My head is throbbing, my heart feels shattered. I can't do this without him. I try to sit up, but my vision is taken over by black spots slowly getting bigger until nothing is left.
