Chapter Nine - A Girl Needs Some Fluff... Literally

After the livestream where Milla discussed everything going on, things mostly mellowed out. Of course, like any other internet person, people were still angry, but she’d done what she knew she needed to do, and she was happy. Well, I mean happy in a relatively lonely way. Sure the girls had each other, they always had, and planned to always be there for each other, but the apartment just felt… empty. They loved each other, in a platonic, best friends way of course, but when your home becomes somewhat of the place you work things can feel monotonous.

They had painted their rooms the color they wanted, but didn’t have the time or resources to decorate the way they fully wanted to at the moment, so they went for the next best, drastic thing. A pet. On the off chance that they both had a Saturday off, they took a walk to a nearby animal shelter and walked around.

They interacted with the employees,
talking about the work the shelter does, and that the girls are in college, before they were brought to the cat room. Oh. My. God. The girls were in heaven. Cat heaven. Both girls had cats almost the entirety growing up, and they’re both very excited to have
jovial kitties running around again. They, being the immature, and insensible idiots they were, laughed at the stupid jokes they were making, and scared majority of the cats by
laughing to loud. The employees subtly glared at them, while Milla wheezed, and Ren apologized. They eventually chilled out and started to associate with the cats and kittens.

Not to sound cheesy, but they really wanted to have that “instant connection” with one of the animals.
They had fun playing with a few cats before they both individually went to go play with cats on their own. Ren wasn't sure what she wanted yet, and she was just lightly treading through
the room, careful of the animals that were walking around, when a smaller cat, probably only around seven inches tall when standing, brushed against her leg, looking up at her with adorably wide yellow and green eyes.

“Awe, hi kitty… can i pick you up?” Ren asked, reaching down and scooping it up. The cat mewled and padded at her face, the little bean toes were soft, and pink.

“Aweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee….eee...eee. What the fuck, where did you get the right to be this cute?” Ren had that “instant connection” that the girls had wanted and she knew there was no way she was walking out of that shelter without the little cat. Across the room, Milla was sitting on a little chair, surrounded by a circle of cats. Literally just staring at her. It was a genuine ‘wtf’ moment. She glanced up to see Ren holding a cat... aweee. How cute. Milla, still surrounded by the circle of cats, was getting a bit freaked out. Frankly, she didn't want to leave her chair. A small little grey cat padded over, and jumped on her lap before settling in for a nap. It was truly one of those moments where your body just freezes in the hope the animal wont leave. It had little stubby legs, and had a head almost too big for its own body. All in all, one of the cutest cats Milla had ever seen. She slowly started to pet the little cat on the head, and in it's sleep, it purred lightly. oh. my. fucking. god. This was all she ever wanted.

Ren walked over with her own cat in her arms, who was batting at her hair that fell on top of her shoulders, and Ren smiled lightly at the scene in front of her. "Found em?"

Milla nodded almost non-existent, "Yeah... aren't they cute?"

"Adorable... well I'll go get the adoption lady and we can go home." Ren walked over to one of the workers to ask for adoption papers, and when they were all done and filled out, two kitties in carriers were set in a car and driven to their new, forever home.

When they got home and carfully set the carriers on the ground, they slowly opened the doors of the carriers and let them slowly make their own way out. Ren's new kitty made her way out first, slowly creeping out before dashing to the sofa and curling up in the corner. Milla's little grey cat was still sitting pretty in the carrier, looking up at her with big yellow eyes. For the next hour, Milla sat near the carrier to familiarize herself with the new kitty, and to assure her the place was safe, while Ren bonded on the couch. they'd already previously bought the proper items to care for cats, including food, and unfortunately, a litter box. They were now excited to be new cat moms.

After the first hour was up, The little kitty finally started to slowly crawl her way out, until only her tail was still in the carrier. Once she'd stepped out, Milla swiftly, but quietly closed the carrier and removed it from the room, so the cat would not become attached to it, and instead actually explore their new home. Quickly within thirty-five minutes, the two cats became friends and seemed to forget they'd just had a jarring move, and played around together like they knew each other forever. Soon it was time to get to bed, and the girls fed the cats, before settling them down in their respective rooms. Milla and Ren were exausted from the day, and quickly fell asleep with their new fur babies settled around them on their bed.
